  • In this video I will show you how to easily render and filter raw honeycomb into a clean cake of beeswax! Bees produce this beautiful and useful substance, don’t let it go to waste! In other videos we will talk about how to use beeswax to make candles, lip balm and skin cream. Stay tuned!

There is no hobby that is better then taking care of yourself. Mind, body and soul. You and your husband do it well. Thanks for putting these videos together.

Thanks again! I hope to show how to harvest honey from our hives sometime in the spring assuming the bees are doing well. :)

Another great vid there, The candles you make your self are way better then supermarket ones in regards to the smell etc . Good info there on filtering. If you get one of them milk saucepans with the pourer thing on you can tip directly through a straner .
This video is especially useful for any one that does Bee rescue jobs. I still have a barrel full from under peoples floor boards and attics from cut out outs. I try to reframe as much as possible for the bees.

Thanks, I was thinking about getting a larger strainer. The cheesecloth is fine but I don’t like having to always buy more. Thanks for watching!

Be sure to heat the honey in a water bath. Not directly over the flame. 👍

I agree, it's a natural substance with lots of uses. I have made soap, furniture polish, creams, as well as candles with beeswax. Much better than products loaded with chemicals! Thanks for watching!

@@idamandahomestead4221 Hi. Have you a How To Make / Shape those "Candles" Video ? Love those Tapered ones you showed here ? Really nice. 😉
      Tip :
Here in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Fruit & Veg (in the Grocery Section)^ Sell Mesh 'Draw Sting' Bags to Weigh / Buy your items : (so to lessen Plastic Bag use.) Cheap and easy ! And most Stores have them instead of rolls of impossible clingy baggie types. These Mesh Bags are about 30p / 50cent each...
And, make great Reuseable Wax Strainers ! You can also hang them up to drip into a Container below. Simples. 😎
Guess it's the same concept as making Jam and Fruit Jelly Preserves.
Or use a whole Pillow Case, way easier than a Scrap that stuff slips out of.
Ps. Any Drips and Blobs of Wax about the place : Warm with a Hair Dryer, blot with Kitchen Paper and 'use to light your Beek Smoker with.' Easy Clean Up and Smoke on hand. 👍
      Hope this helps.

      Happy Beekeeping 2023.
      🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Wax Melting is messy, so watch your Stove and Kitchen for drips etc. Been there !
      Warre Hive : Prep for 2023 :
Been making DIY Bee Frames for my Warre Hive.
Using Scrap Timber (Strips) Glued and Nailed. Even a Queen Cell Holder one. For DIY Wax Cups for Egg Grafting.
[Need to get off old Top Bars and into Frames.] Local Bee Inspector Regulations don't like Top Bar so much as much harder to Inspect if issues arise.
So hopefully, coming Bee Season fits remit. And, I can add my 'Homemades' into my Honey Extractor as they are Wired too, come Honey Harvest. 😎
Bees work way to much to make precious (reusable) Comb, to just Mash it Up and Strain in a Honey Mesh Bag ! 🙄

Thanks for the great advice! The reusable bags for produce would be awesome, hopefully we get some here in Canada! I do have a video coming up on making the tapers. Just made some this weekend! Hope your bees are well!
