I think you would find an advantage if you pass a line through the clew of the mainsail and tie it under the boom, to hold the boom up. Also you might want to have a better way of tensioning the clew (like an outhaul), as a flatter sail is better if it is windy. Great sailing with your youngster.
@@bigpistol2 Hi Paul. Yes there is an outhaul but no means of tying the sail clew down to the boom, so the boom sags. Usually the Mirror has a little piece of track used to attached the clew.
@@bigpistol2 He let off the outhaul at 0:33 which dropped the boom uncomfortably low. And, yes, it would be simple as Mirror Cruising observes to have a loop through the clew to hold the boom up whatever the outhaul setting is.
