Such a shame that they never let Arthur and Merlin adventure in good old /proper/ sword and sorcery. Could've been a great dynamic for a season to show the change when Merlin can more overtly use his magic to help Camelot, perhaps still having to keep some subtly because of the populace at large's views on magic, but just the ability for the two to really go at it together properly on adventures.

A lot of shows make the mistake of staying on too long and making people lose interest just because they've watched it for so long. The creators ended it well and faithfully. As much as us fans miss it, at least it stayed strong till the end.
Yes! For example Supernatural, its perfect ending was in season 10 and if it had ended there it could have wrapped up so nicely just like Merlin did and everyone would love it till the end! Although it did go on for 10 years the fans never lost interest haha but after that, it feels like its now past too long....
Natalie Carstairs I feel that ending it after 11 would have worked too, as the antagonist was the most powerful thing the boys have faced. But having 11 seasons would have bugged me xD It should wrap up on a number like 12 or even 13. I just hope they end it well. I want to see the boys at peace.

Yeah its gotta be on an even number for me, for me its 14 instead of 13 but 15's okay cause its in the middle ahah.. but i thought season 11 really downgraded from 10, i bawled my eyes out at 10 and its the perfect number and 11 didnt phase me or seemed a bit useless to me (its almost making the same mistake by having me lose interest before the show ends) *cough* vampire diaries did that. I feel like Merlin knew exactly how to end the show while making it as memorable as possible, and no one ever got over it after 4 years. these shows should take notes, but its all about money blah blah
Dude I would recommend investing in the DVDs. I don't normally buy DVDs, but Merlin is a fantastic series which always lifts my mood on a oppressive day! But yes apparently season 5 is the final!

Arthur was only a fair and just king because Merlin was there to beat him into shape...without him even knowing. Remember what an arrogant prat Arthur used to be? Had Merlin not come, he would have remained that way, because there would have been no one brave enough to show him that just because a servant's life is worth less than a prince's, it's not worthless.
I have the first two seasons in DVD (I'd like the next two, of course) but I don't think I'll be able to wait until they play the whole season in the UK, THEN in Canada, THEN until they put it on DVDs. The whole thing will be ruined from spoilers by then :P Mixed feelings about how its the final season. Good that we finally get to see how Arthur reacts when (if?) Merlin reveals his magic. Bad that, well, it's the bloomin' last season!

Because it had Arthur and Gaius to influence Uther's decisions. It wouldn't have survived if Arthur or Gaius hadn't been there because Uther is making a bad choice by outlawing magic and killing of everyone he suspects of being a sorcerer. Arthur is a fair and just king

By far the best soundtracks of merlin are "Merlin Lost" and "Gwen and Arthur's theme" search them up, they'll make you cry!
