I'm 21 and love Limp Bizkit. People need to understand that they're not gonna play like Trivium, Slipknot, or Gojira; their music is made to have a simple, hard groove, and be a good way to get out some anger. Plus, they have amazing guitar (the legend Wes Borland), and they're really heavy in a lot of their songs

@Alex Hefner. *Alex. 3 years ago or so, you didn't even know there was a band called Linkin Park, Evanescence, and others. You discover this culture around 2018! That doesn't even give you the right to be an amateur. You're an upstart. You're a novist, a newborn. You were absent, lost in a space-time hole...You just dropped in. You just woke up or came out of a long coma, or a cave..., you don't "know" Chester or Limp B for example, come on man !?...but you allow yourself to judge with your newcomer's approximations, and to play the connoisseur. But to know it, you must have fallen into it too early. You have to have been immersed in it for years, to know its history, to develop the right musical ear (yes, it's an ear, not neck muscles to nod for business! )...It's a whole process where there's no room for improvisation or false pretenses...You judge, for example, teenagers who discover Linkin Park or Slipknot, etc., while you yourself discovered these bands when you were twice the age of these teenagers! It's not even the same as them, it's worse, because at least these kids have the excuse of being born too late! What is your excuse ?*

It's funny that these kids will never truly understand the impact limp Bizkit had back then. This band was massively huge. Fred used to send us free merch all the time back in the late 90s and early 2000s. I remember going to 2nd and 3rd grade wearing "I did it all for the nookie" shirts. I remember my great grand parents having his platinum album significant other hanging on their wall he gave them. God this band ruled back then. Those days were the best lol

Yeah they needed some background history on shows like TRL on MTV and how limp bizkit songs would be #1 beating out nsync/bsb/britney spears which was a pretty big deal back then.

It's so weird to me that they didn't know this music. I wasn't a teen during the late 90's early 2000's yet I still am familiar with this music. The radio station I listen to at work mostly airs newish pop , rap and rock but will make an exeption for limp bizkit and a few other bands. I regularly hear Break stuff, Rollin, My generation or Nookie on that radio station.

Ah, sweet memories of my teenage rebellion against my music teacher mom who was into classical. I went to my first opera when I was four and a half years old. At the time I was already playing piano...
Well, so, when I got older I found stuff I assumed would make it clear to her that I was done with going to the opera with her.
One day when I was blasting LB, she comes into my room, sits down and starts asking questions.
Like "what's that song about" "what do the lyrics mean" (we're German. Her English is almost non-existent).
Can you imagine how embarrassing it is to explain to your mom, what "I did it all for the nookie" means? 🙈
But it actually got worse. We live in a small town. I looked like her mini-me, all her students knew who I was.
You don't want to know how often I was approached by kids my age in town with "Omg, your mom is SOOOO cool! We did Limp Bizkit last week! I wonder how she knows about them..."
Uh... You... WONDER? Take a fucking guess who she might have gotten that from!
Not one told me something like "Ey, I like your music taste. I guess your mom got it from you."
And that's the way it continued for a couple of years. How delighted her students were over being introduced to Deftones, Linkin Park, etc. by her.
    *sigh*
SHE STOLE MY TEENAGE REBELLION AND COOLNESS!

    • @Fillardmillmore
      @Fillardmillmore ปีที่แล้ว +4

Ironically, metal and classical are super compatible! My mom isn't a music teacher, but similarly, I've been taken to operas frequently since I was super young. Her favorite genres are classical and metal (she doesn't really like nu metal, but I'm talking Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Meshugga (and these are all just concerts she's gone to within this year))
And I'm frequently her concert buddy (went to Lacuna Coil, Jinjer, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Sabaton, Gojira etc.)
So it used to be a punchline to say those were her two favorite genres because I thought it was so dichotomous, but once I actually got into metal I understood the overlap really is there. I mean, symphonic metal is an entire genre. Apparently even evanescence counts as metal (honestly I don't really understand genres) and that's very operatic (along with Jinjer and LC- female vocalists, I guess.)
So yeah, it's interesting to see the overlap! (Also this was just an excuse to talk about music I like)

I'm an 80s child, so came properly into music just as hair metal gave way to Grunge, Offspring, and Cypress Hill; and saw the rise of Body Count, RATM, Judgement Night OST, and eventually NuMetal. Like any other genre, some was great, some was awful. It's interesting to see how a generation raised with a predominance of RnB/HipHop see NuMetal/RapMetal. I always liked Rollin (especially the WuTang version) and Take a Look Around

I enjoy Limp Bizkit, and this kind of demonstrates the power music has over people and how skill is not everything, They were not the most skilled band but they put SOOO much energy into their songs, you can feel it, why a lot of mainstream songs(not all) are dead 2 weeks later, they put a fake, hollow, core where the soul of the music should be. Like the man said..."you gotta have FAITH!!!!!" p.s Alex was maybe just a tad too harsh on some of these kids, but I get what he was saying.

I was a teen then and saw them playing at a festival in 2000, so it makes me feel old watching this, hahaha! I'm glad the one girl really got it! I had a cringe at the Slipknot one so the reaction to Limp Bizkit I guess reflected the fan bases at the time with far more fans of Limp Bizkit than Slipknot (I think that switched around though). I think I roll my eyes at the same kids you do too 🤣

Saw Slipknot here in Ottawa, back in May 2022. With Cypress Hill. Was my 3rd time seeing Slipknot. Saw Korn once, but never saw Limp Bizkit. Oh well. the thing about LB is fred isn't the best vocalist but he's a sick front man surrounded by people like wes borland who is a master of hook riffs catchy ass riffs. and john otto with insane groove.

I blew out the 6x9’s and 10’ subs in my van back in 99 as a teen to Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit in the high school parking lot waiting for first period with my boys.
Those were the days. Had the time of my life.
Oh, and discovered back then that listening to Slipknot on the freeway increases your speed by 10mph, this was off their first album, before they blew up.

Duuude, the ones dancing to Rollin' were BTS, amazing artists sadly mostly know for their pop tracks, but three of them are incredible rappers and their discography is really diverse pop, rap, latin, r&b...but I'd say most of their music is hip hop based. They also have some songs that I'd say are rock influenced. Basically they do fusion music. I don't know if you'll ever be up to do a reaction to them, but even if it's in your free time, I really recommend you check out Run BTS live and Dionysus live. They really know how to deliver an amazing performance. They were the ones who made me discover Limp Bizkit and honestly made me appreciate a lot of different genres.
Loved your reaction btw, you have a new subscriber and sorry if I made any grammar mistakes, English is not my first language.
