- What if we have another way to have moss than from just buying them?
Forests, river banks, and mountains are some few places where you can find different Varieties of Mosses. Bringing some few home and propagating them systematically can provide an everlasting source of Moss (if you don't use all of them at once).
Reminder:
Most of us love to have FREE things. Mother Nature provides us things without her asking in return. But we must be careful on how much we take from her.
Collect Moss moderately

Remember to harvest sustainably so you can come back next year or other people can also harvest from that patch, don’t take more than 30 percent of each patch and smooth down the edges. Moss grows very slowly so if you need more moss just spread out you collection to multiple patches instead of taking a lot from one so all of the patches can grow back and not destroy a patch of moss.
I’m wondering what to do with these big patches of cushion moss I found on my neighborhood Because I know they will die by summer as I live in Southern California. The majority of it already is brown and it’s still winter. But they seemed to have grown really big due to a lot of recent rainfall last month. I want to save the moss and put it in controlled environment until next winter and put it back, but don’t know if it’s the right thing to do. I had a bunch of moss growing in my front yard last year but the entire thing died by summer so I know this will happen for sure with the moss I found in the landscaping. Also I think it’ll be destroyed by landscapers when they come to maintain that area. I live in suburbia with everything looking very manufactured so wild moss isn’t a thing here which is why I want to save them so badly. Seeing these huge patches all brown makes me so sad
honestly moss is hardy, it can hibernate until the rain comes so removing it will do more harm that good
@@stancexpunks Brown moss isn’t necessarily dead moss. It is acclimatized to its environment, so I’d recommend leaving it alone.
NOT THE MOSS BOSS KIT you’re an inspo
Boppin to the tunes, I appreciate you mama
I collect moss, add some water and buttermilk, spin it in a blender, and then paint/spray it on a surface and let it grow. If it's in a dry location indoors or out I spritz it a few times a day until it is established.
Is this fr
@@Trust-the-news-get-vaxxed69eryes, for real. Aquascapers have been using this technique for long time for dry start their moss.
Some used yogurt, some use water.
Does it mould ir grow algea?
Yes it is@@Trust-the-news-get-vaxxed69er
@circa134 as long as it has proper drainage it will not mold or grow algae
lovely variety of mosses. thank you for sharing
Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Do you need to let the box stay open a bit for air or would it dry out too fast if you left the lid on but not closed tight?
Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of going out to see some mosses in the wild for a while now
I’ve had a lot of fun watching this
Fantastic video!!!!different types of mosses.....got 5 different types just around the house. Great video...keep rockin.

What the hell is a bright shady area
A bright area without direct sunlight!
Great video!
This is so amazing! I am excited to get to that next level! Have you had to deal with any pests due to collecting moss from nature? I have a coffee table-sized terrarium that I would love to introduce native mosses to (as there is an abundance to collect from here in the PNW) - but I am afraid of bringing pests inside. Please and Thank you!
check out the video: How to Propagate Your Own Moss by SerpaDesign. This person using that persons method of propagation, that video goes into more detailed explanation and he does address pests and how to sterilize the moss. I'm also in the PNW and I've got quite a few moss boxes going and looking to get most of my yard covered in moss! Moss is also so easy to plant in-between! You can make moss slurries too, some people use beer or buttermilk or yogurt, things with yeast and probiotics!
I love moss🥰
Moss is life!
Hello! I went moss hunting today with one of my little sisters to set up a mason jar terrarium. Will moss grow with a little bit of dirt and will flowers also grow with the moss there?
Amazing,
But i can’t see fern collection 😁
Waiting for another video.
Isama moko sunod boss!😁
we got the same corcssssss!!
Hi, is it necessary to cover it up after watering?
Are these moss can survive indoor without sun?
👍👍👍
where did you get this container?
Hi, may I know u r from which country? Where to get this kind of moss?

Namo Buddhaya 🍀
haha even the nerve plant got so much grown 😍😍🤍🤍
⭐👌♥️
No entiendo que efectos hace la piedra grava en el fondo del contenedor, dado a que el musgo no necesita de nutrientes al mismo nivel como si lo hacen las plantas vasculares. Podrías resolver esa duda?
Support drainage: The gravel layer helps the moss planting medium to drain water better, avoiding waterlogging and potential harm to plant roots.
Create permeability: Gravel helps to create a permeable layer, allowing the plant roots to have space to grow and absorb nutrients.
You filled the tray so i could not judge its growth.
Ngayon ko lang natuklasan na may iba't-ibang uri pala ng moss/lumot dito sa Pilipinas. Di ko kasi sila pinapansin. Tsaka, nakakatakot naman yung mga scorion. Diyos ko.
What tropical paradise is this where you were collecting?
can u find sphagnum moss
Unable to find the quote used in video, who said it ???
Can I use these moss for aquarium?
No
Is the cow okay? 🐂
Did you watered everyday?
I only opened the tub once in 2 weeks. I wanted to try what would happen if I would just let it alone as much as possible.
@@MigoRuiz and what were your results of doing it like that?? Love the video btw thank you for listing some the moss species names!
🌱❤⚡🔥👌💨💨
You from philipines bruh?
bro san yan? haha
Where do you live? That place is beautiful
I liked seeing si many varieties. Unfortunately is been difficult to watch. The names of moss are not shown for more than a second. I will highly suggest to leve them more. I really annoying to go back several times or needing to stop every time the video just to be able to read the names. All on super speed here. I do appreciate the information, but....
Why propagate moss? Its everywhere 🤔
Sadly this video wont help me.. living in the middle of Europe. Only mosses i can collect aren't good for rainforest ecosystems like closed terrariums. sad.
I have a problem with your channel sir. I ran out of videos to binge watch here. I am setting up a petition to force you to employ umpa loopas to make videos faster.
And here I am trying to kill moss in my yard. It took over my lawn. 🤬
You did NOT succeed to propagate anything in the end. Why the misleading title?
Sorry but your “meowing” music in the beginning and then in the middle is very annoying, I had to mute. When you think of moss it automatically sets you in the mood for beautiful nature-something zen and tranquil, and you had that partially with piano music, so why ruin it with electronics and not to have the piano all the way ?
F***ing irritating music so switched off
really good thanks

Fortunately for you, in Europe they have diverse plant shops compared to other places in the world.
Then adjust your terrarium set up. Im in North America with 4 seasons. My moss grows. Collect various ones and put them in your home and see which survives. Its best to replicate their growing conditions. For example I have sphagnum, haircap and thyme moss that grow near me. Spagnum is boggy and acidic, I found haircap nearby under a vociferous tree which probably means acidic, if I collect haircap, I can probably propagate it with the sphagnum and very humid. The thyme grows under trees dappled sun, soil moist, bits of limestone and concrete and lots of decay wood. I would place it in a container that would be more neutral or alkaline.
It won't help anyone! He pulls all the moss in a patch, which is a big no no. You suppose to only take half, so it can grow back quickly. The moss he took, now will take a few years to grow back
Honestly when I harvest moss I onl take a small coin sized piece if it’s a relatively small patch or under 10 percent if it huge and smooth it down
