You, or at least your son, appear to be carrying no weight so did you use a bag forwarding/taxi company to relieve you of your weight? I know from many previous visits to the Outer Hebs how much in demand accommodation is so just wondering where you stayed? I'm guessing you used a taxi to get back to the Castle Bay - Oban ferry? Any information much appreciated.
Hi Pete - our taxi company was essentially my wife and daughter who met us at the end of the day in a wee camper van. Our original plan had been to camp but when they decided to come with us it made the logistics a lot easier as it was awkward to get back to Glasgow from Ullapool with the bikes. It all depends on how much time you have. We had a pretty limited schedule and wanted the kids to enjoy a bit of the islands off the bikes too. I wouldn't have wanted to do the Barra crossing twice either (if we had relied on a taxi service taking us back south for the ferry)! It was quite rough.
