I really believe Randy's playing hadn't even come close to his peak when he was killed. Such incredible promising talent that never had a chance to be realized.

No kidding he pulled this stuff off when he was 23 years old easily and wrote it. It was a mastermind genius to know all that at that age what makes it as he pulls it off with such ease so it shows how much he can do and new

Grew up with Posters of Randy on my walls. When he left us, i was devistated. Sad part is, so many people weren't even aware of what we lost on that day. Please take the time to appreciate people while they are here. We are ALL temporary.

When ozzy does the iconic lift that we've all seen for decades when he's holding Randy while he plays my eyes well up with tears you can see the love he had for him so much more then a friendship something I'm sure the Ozzman has never gotten over, and I totally agree with the comment above Ozzy was so proud of Randy when he got that award all of this is so sad and tragic and heartbreaking to watch he was one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived but not long enough,,,, 😔 RIP Randy Rhoads ❤️

OZZY OSBOURNE: THURSDAY MARCH 18TH 1982: RANDY RHOADS LAST SHOW AT THE KNOXVILLE CIVIC COLISEUM: DIARY OF A MADMAN TOUR:
Upon entering the coliseum after buying my tour shirt and ticket 🎫 stub processing: I noticed the stage was set up like a medieval castle with arches and bats 🦇 flying around the top of them. There was a staircase leading up to Tommy Aldridge’s Drumkit. The top left of Tommy was where Donny Airey’s keyboards were set up. Stage right and left had to cages with which Randy Rhoads would appear from the floor stage right and Rudy Sarzo stage left. OZZY had a throne of which he would appear out of to start the show to Over the Mountain. Tommy had his drum tech dressed as an Executioner stand beside his kit with his arms crossed. The staircase had a small section that would open and a small dwarf named: Ronnie (after Ronnie James Dio the new singer for Black Sabbath-replacing OZZY) and hand OZZY towels and water between songs. Little did we all know that later in the show: the executioner would bring the dwarf out to be hung from the rafters and later he would cut off his head using a guillotine! At the end of the show OZZY climbed onto a giant mechanical hand that OZZY stood on top of and launched unspecified meat 🥩 🍖 into the audience! Of course it was all an a theatrical act as the dwarf appeared to take a bow with OZZY and the band. When OZZY smiled we noticed he put vampire 🧛‍♀️ teeth in! We laughed hard! I went to the show with my friend Richard and his older brother Greg who was 18 at the time. We were 13. Greatest show on earth! Richard and I were both terrified and thrilled at what we witnessed! Unfortunately the next morning all that excitement and energy was gone as we learned that Randy Rhoads perished in a plane crash in Florida. Richard and I played drums but Greg played guitar 🎸 and he definitely took it the hardest! One of the greatest guitarist of our generation and had just won the new guitarist of the year by Guitar Player magazine. Rest In Peace Randy Rhoads your music lives on!
    Sincerely,
    Gary Lagstrom
RONNIE THE DWARF: PLAYED BY JOHN ALLEN:
    HUNG DURING GOODBYE TO ROMANCE
HEAD CUT OFF BEFORE LAST SONG: PARANOID

I don't mean to be a buzz kill but Ozzy did that "pick up" thing at almost every show on the DOAM tour during that part of the guitar solo. I seriously doubt that was the exact show "the picture" was taken. Sorry to be a downer but that's the facts.

Nope, the story is that everyone knows Randy had classical tutors to learn from while touring and one of his teachers was showing him Leo Brouwer's "Estudio Sencillo No 6" or Simple Study, a series of classical guitar progressions written by Brouwser.
Anyway, Ozzy heard the piece and said "That's mine, I'm stealing that" and that became to classical/acoustic meld as the intro to Diary of a Madman. The pedal point used as the main riff however could be derived from a Mozart piece

I remember hearing it was just a pedal point riff one of his teachers on the road had him do... Ozzy heard it and told him to remember that and use it in a song
Though between all of the baroque through classical through romantic periods, I'm sure that particular pedal point was used by someone, but I don't think the instructor purposefully took it from a particular piece

ALZ / NYC I agree with yah bro! all the places that Ozzy played along with Randy usually had video tape rolling. We need those tapes to be released. I do not understand why Osbourne is hanging on to this footage, he would make a bundle. For us fans we could careless what he makes as we want to see the footage plain and simple. Clear the clouded mind and get your damb ass in gear and put the footage out ASAP! plus lets have a great Doc Movie on RR before his sweet mom passes..
    now!

The intro was originally a Mozart piece, but with some extra shit mixed in, it became Diary of a Madman.

I feel very much that what the piano masters were to piano, Randy was to guitar -within his genre of music. The solo in crazy train is a 'tour de force' hands down. Along with may other works we all cherish, he has created many un-repeatable-heart-felt-solos and riffs. R.I.P. Randy.
