  • I wanted to finally try out a No Till Drill for my foodplots and so I rented this unit from our local Co-Op and this is my review on it. Keep in mind, my point of view is from someone who hunts and plants foodplots as I am not a farmer, so my goals and opinions will differ because of that.
I used the GreenCoverSeed Fall Release blend and I loved how it performed!

Planted the summer release with the exact same drill this spring in southern TN. Plan on drilling directly into that in September. There are some weeds in my plot, but I don’t plan on spraying, and won’t crimp until the spring when I plant next years summer cover. I hope you keep posting updates on this!

I wasn't able to get done this summer what I needed to unfortunately.. Life has been busy and I've let a few things slip through the cracks.
I'd love to hear how your plot is doing!

I have 3 of these 107 we have seeded at least 15000 acres over the last 12 years. They are almost indescribable. No plastic parts.Everything is very durable. We have done work on mines here in Nv and shoulders on highways

Oh wow that is really impressive! Hay buster should reach out to you for a client testimonial because that’s awesome!

Before you get a crimper for just a few acres of food plots, I'd suggest you watch the video on TH-cam called: The 12 April's Dairy.
Watch how he terminates prior to planting with the no-till drill. It seems to be a very simple solution.

I’ll give it a watch! I’m probably going to be broadcasting for a few more years until I can afford a drill, but I’m always interested in termination methods. Thank you for that!

I got suggested this video after watching Kasco plotters choice no till drill. Have you looked into that ? Supposed to be less expensive. But yeah broadcasting may be best in your context. Not sure a cultipacker would help germination while broadcasting.

I haven’t heard of those but I will check them out! I definitely had the best germination I have ever had with the No till drill, but I can’t justify the expense and ultimately the time it takes to plant my smaller plots with it.
I have a cultipacker but I really would like a crimper for termination purposes mostly

I have a RTP no till drill and love it. I plant my fields and others with for a fee. It originally came 3 point but I upgraded to a draw bar because it just didn’t feel safe on hillsides with it.

I definitely think I would like that brand based upon what I have seen on TH-cam. I do believe the safety on hillsides would definitely be a concern. I’d probably try my best to go up and down the hills rather than side to side when that is an option.

hello have you looked into the seeder meter? they are a great tool for calibrating your drill when planting poly cultures. I highly recommend it to get your seed rate correct without guessing.

I had never heard of that. I just went off of the graph on the seeder and split the difference based upon what seeds my blend had it in. That would have been super handy tho!
