Good comparison, but you really should compare the Dino mode articulation as well. These aren't car that just roll after being transformed. They have all new joints and points of articulation not seen in bot mode. Like the NA version having a more articulated tail compared to MS, but the knees bend the wrong way. Also, you missed a step in my MS Grimlock transformation. Actually, a lot of people missed it. You can do more to transform the arms so that when they become the knees in Dino mode, the knees can bend over 90 degrees.
NA has a flame sword that you can remove from the hilt for fire breathing Grimlock. They both come with the fish. Accessories are a tie for me. MS for the crown and NA for the fire gimmick.
One thing I find scummy from NewAge is that to get certain accessories you have to buy multiple versions. I know MS are questionable with repaints but honestly having to shell out for another figure to get an accessory is equally not customer friendly. I know you use a local retailer for price comparison too to keep it fair, but jeez the markup/higher price that the US based companies are putting on these figures is insane. Grimlock is $58 on Magic Square's site!
Just curious, Which accessory were you looking for on this one? They were identical to the cartoon version just different colors. Yeah the US retail are getting marked up a lot by their distributors, Toydojo is actually not carrying new age anymore because of that issue.
@@TMReviews Ideally I'd have liked a flame breath effect. I think all of them should have come with that and the 'proper' sword rather than the inconsistent some have flame some have a proper sword. The fish is another notable difference for Grimlock specifically but it's not essential. I'm a believer in redecos should have the same accessories :)
@@TMReviews besides the different swords for different versions of Grimlock jiturnha mentioned Sludge comes with different guns depending on the version you get. The toon NA Sludge comes with his missile launcher (which was used for his gun in the cartoon) while toy Sludge comes with his toy rifle. No way to get both without buying different versions of the figure. How much one cares varies from person to person. I hadn't noticed until this video (I never bought any NA dinobot for various reasons) it looks like they did the opposite with Grimlock, the toon version coming with his rifle and the toy version coming with his rocket launcher. So if you want the standard gun and normal sword you have to buy the toon and toy versions.
Interesting that you gave the point to Magic Square for engineering and then immediately complain about the poor engineering meaning the legs splay out in Dino mode.
Will skip this ms grimlock because those that knows how they operate they'll release a toon color/painted version later that will fit better with na dinobots regular version

I kinda feel like MS is gettin crazy with their prices. Pretty brave to charge almost the aame as NA on grimlock

I really like these figures, couldn't bring myself to pay what they are charging for either of these figures. Saying that, I do prefer the N A.

If someone can get the top half of the Newage one with the robot legs of the magic square, thats my perfect Grimlock.
Great VS.✨️😃
Thanks G

Yeah they work in robot mode but don't work in dino mode, was a bit torn on that one.
Man, that MS is straight out of the happy meal! Their painted should look better, and the paint will stiffen up the joints

I really hate the toon deco for dinobots. It just looks silly and cheap.
I really like these, in person they don't look like stickers, but I can totally understand the vibe
@@TMReviews toon* but year the tampo is nice
