I am going into my 5th oil change with this and, it really is great In my 2016 3.5 Ecoboost Explorer. It's much more quiet, smoother and not as dirty during 5k oil changes
My experience with this oil has been unlike any other. Beats Mobil 1 in price and engine runs smoother, quieter, and marginally better mpg/power. I'm sold on Valvoline. They got a ton of new customers.
With all the dainty/low tension oil ring designs OEMs put into vehicles starting in the late ‘00s, they’re going to make an absolute killing on this product. Everyone else will be playing catch-up. I hadn’t used Valvoline since the early ‘90s. This has actually made me remember how much I trusted their brand.
Here’s my 6 month testimonial for VR&P. 2012 Prius V I’ve owned since new. Oil changes at dealership or quick-lube places. Lots of HWY miles for the first 85K. Oil change interval average ~7K. After that, from 85-127K, almost all short trips with oil change interval average ~4.5K. Model year falls under TSB for low friction rings oil consumption. No noticeable oil consumption at 124K but was smelling fuel dilution in the oil. So my original intent was to switch to VR&P to hedge against possible future oil consumption. I had originally thought about changing the first use of the VR&P out at 1K, or at least the filter, but it looked so good on the dipstick checks I ended up going to 2.5K. Oil filter looked normal upon change. I could have gone out to 4K on the first change I think. That fuel dilution in the oil was to the extent that I could smell it in the garage after the car had sat a bit. I now have 3K+ miles on VR&P and no longer smell fuel dilution in the engine oil. Can’t speak to why and how, it’s just my observation. The other thing that has really pleased me is how quiet/smooth the engine sounded immediately after switching. I mean the very first start had noticeably reduced engine chatter. I’m probably going to use this oil for the rest of the vehicle’s serviceable life. Oh… and if you’re thinking about switching to this oil check out the YT channel The Motor Oil Geek. Last spring he put out a video where he went to the Valvoline testing facility. Very interesting video.
@ Gen 3? Was it burning a quart in a couple thousand miles? Honestly, if all the accolades prove out completely true in a year or so, Valvoline should get some kind of environmental/conservation award. I have a friend with an ‘07 Scion TC with that trouble Toyota engine. It’s been burning oil like mad for the last 15 years. I gotta get him to try R&P. Just to see.
@@EvzenKovar-i5p I can't tell you why but it does work, I was actually pretty surprised because most stuff is snake oil. Every 1000 miles or so I would have to top off the oil and when I did the regular top off check it was fine and its never been fine for 50k miles.
Oil Wars happening now to be number one on top,, totally impressed changing to this oil how quiet my engine stays even when it gets miles on the oil,, compared to other number one top brands...
Still $29.99 at Walmart everyday! This is a great innovation well worth the extra $4 over my Pennzoil high end oil. Oil consumption is gone on my 2009 Toyota Camry after four drain and fills with VR&P oil. I have 220K on the odometer. VR&P only addresses sticky oil control rings on each piston.
Just put it in my daughter's 2009 pontiac vibe (Toyota matrix) with the oil burning 2.4L. Keeping my fingers crossed. Previous burn has been about 1 qt every 1000 miles
