Wow..... I was just thinking how much I'd like to see good coverage of this match with JesseM commentating...Dreams do come true lol
Glad you enjoyed! You must have manifested it 😂
Thanks for the great commentary, Jesse! Note that near the end of game 1, if it came down to it, I saved an Earthquake and could have used that to get the Enchantress into Vile Imp range. Though Zalem mentioned Chaos Twister, there’s a chance that it fails, and Earthquake is more of a sure thing. Either way, this was a very close match! Thanks for taking the time to do the commentary, and thanks to Chase for the great editing!!
I love how close the matches are at times. These were really cool to watch.
I wish when you were talking about the decks you showed the cards as you talked about them. I don't know all the cards yet and that would help me learn. Thank you!
That's something we can do in the future!
Awesome stuff Jess! It's good to see great Australian Sorcery talent get recognition for great work! 😁
Excited to finally see this match as I missed it in the discord!
Glad to see such a healthy meta around this game. Lots of viable builds.
Would love to see more content like this on the channel as well as key strategies or deck tech. This will help people get more comfortable about the key mechanics of the game and the approach they can take. One comment: on previous sorcery championship videos hosted by Ira most key cards were presented and introduced on the side of the screen, we could also see hands from both players etc... A number of things that made the video much more appealing for new players. Just some thoughts.
Just in theory: Is it possible for the Deathspeaker to cast Selfsame Simulacrum from the Cemetery, use its ability to summon it as a copy of a minion with Genesis (for example a nearby Titan) and use this Genesis ability before banishing?
Thanks a lot for the great game and commentary!
I’d like to see an errata to limit the play on the philosophers stone that Ira is using. You shouldn’t be able to use unlimited free actions to “hand off” artifacts in order to take the same discount over and over. Particularly in a space that has enemy units and is resolving combat… it’s kind of a minimal play that is technically correct but I feel that the stone should only offer one discount per resource per turn. That’s powerful enough.
17:44 - Ira ended up cheating here. After playing the Highland Princess and fetching the Onyx Core, he didn't Shuffle (unless there is something not visually reflecting this in the game).
I feel like deathspeaker will be significantly less powerful once we have more card draw options that aren't attached to gensis creatures. Zalem playing a wizard then having Ira cash in on the card draw after killing it is just too brutal.
A bit difficult to hear clearly with the overlayed talking but great deck breakdown and commentary regardless.
What are the rules on take backs?
Been watching the league and seems like there is a far few take backs.
Cheers
Hmm I don't know if there is an official rule but I think it depends on your opponent. Like, if you're both cool with it. Probably a good idea to ask before the match.
I think at casual events even store comps etc.. Sure. But at high comp play.. I don't think it should be allowed.. It just becomes a grey area 😅.
My understanding is that the players are chill about takebacks so long as they aren't excessive, and likely not after the opponent makes moves on his turn. From what I have seen of Ira play, they aren't super competitive in that sense.
Jesse your content is awesome, but this video is irritating due to your obsessive use of plural pronouns. Ira doesnt even have his "preferred pronouns" listed in his appearances on sorcerytcgs channel. You can refer to him as he lol
