holy god, okay i don’t usually comment on videos (i actually have a few extensions to disable them on desktop, i’m doing this from my phone), but the kids aren’t alright is actually in my top-5 of fall out boy songs. and i was a little worried the intensity of teenagers was gonna overpower the Soft Angst of the kids aren’t alright but. as soon as i got to the chorus i just fucking melted. this is such a gorgeous mashup and brings in the best parts of each song and it’s incredible and i’m so glad it exists

To me this sounds like a little brother watching his older sibling battle through high school and depression, while only just being a teenager himself. He watches from the crack in the door as his brother comes home from school after getting bullied again and again, just falling on his bed and sobbing. The little brother is torn between feeling scared for his brother and trying not to fall into the same sadness (Kids vs Teenagers). Eventually, he looks at his brother as he tries to commit suicide by pills, rushing into the room to stop him, but his brother's already weak, and he's desperately calling for help and hugging his brother. The brother is rushed to the hospital, where he survives just barely They hug each other, crying tears of joy this time, and his only brother just keeps whispering "thank you. thank you. thank you." inder his breath, but his little brother can't respond because he's overwhelmed with love and fear and relief and just a sadness that anyone would hurt his brother. And they get better, after so long, and it's beautiful just like the mashup.
