There is so much Django in this. Is not music THE greatest human creation ever? It is just joy as sound. And this is what these enormous talents share with us. Thank you.
Bucky Pizzarelli is the elder statesman on the group. Awesome player, used to be in the tonight show band. And he is a class act, father of John Pizzarelli another great guitar player.
Yes! Thanks for the informed note. Left one of my own this day (04/02/2020) -- same day Bucky's death was announced -- on Tommy's Facebook page. They were best friends for a long time.
I never really cared for the guitar because I would only hear it in "rock and roll" music ( and I love all instruments ). To me the way B. Pizzarrelli & J. Pizzarelli and Joe Pass play is THE WAY this instrument SHOULD be played. It's the songs, too, of course that they play. All so soothing and yes they make it look so easy. SYLVIA - FL 07-14-2018
Yes. Well put. Especially the "so soothing . . . they make it look so easy." The great ones always perform artlessly -- you watch and think, "With enough time, I could play like that." Oh no you can't.
I was so very fortunate to have seen Bucky Pizzarelli live, at Disney Worlds ""Top Of The World Lounge"" way back in 1980! Clark Terry was there, and Marion McPhartland on piano! What a session!!! Also went there a second time, and saw Bucky again, but with his son, John Pizzarelli! It was fantabulous!!!!
Thats just plainly stunning. I would love to be just like Bucky. Charming old man that plays guitar with a smile on his face. This is what music is about - expressions :)
What a perfect comment! Mind you I'm 73 and a Gibson Northern) Southern Jumbo is my weapon of choice. A glorified J-44. But you knew that. Thank you, Jonas Baltrūnas . (Just left a note of my own on this day when Bucky left us. -- Mark B of the frozen North
Bucky is amazing with anyone esp his Son John. These 4 put a smile on anyone’s face. This was prob performed on the East Coast. Audiences love them. Guitarists who gig just get better and better. Some of the best.
I awoke today to a dozen tiny birds in my backyard. It snowed overnight and I'd spread some birdseed on the green grass yesterday. The 12 quickly became 20, then 30 . . . now more. I said to my wife: "Someone we love must have died." It's a coincidence that this only happens -- a dramatic number of birds instead of only one or two -- at the death of someone dear to us. My best friend's Mom, our parish priest. "Let me just check online." Last night I'd shared a note with Australia's greatest living guitarist Tommy Emmanuel. And first thing there this day: "Rest in Peace Bucky Pizzarelli. Thank you for all the music, your service in the War, your friendship and encouragement, and your divine love of playing the Guitar! Have fun with Django and Les! love Tommy x" Such videos bring out the best in guitarists' "comments" Including this informed answer to the question: "Is Tommy playing a Martin 00-15?" Benjamin Velte 3 years ago It's [a] 00-17 but from the 30's. It was given to Tommy by Chet Atkins who got it from Arthur Smith, who recorded the original "Guitar Boogie" with this guitar!
That’s what I love about. Music isn’t a great! These these guys… I mean, they’re also completely different. From different countries, different generations, different different languages. But sit down in a chair and put a guitar in their hands and it’s fucking magic. Just imagine that you go out in the woods, you cut down a tree you turn it into a guitar and put some cat guts on it at 400 years later music is better than ever.
Hello Tommy :) Years ago I lost my left hand movements in a motorcycle accident ... In fact, at the same age as Django ... The joy and pleasure that you and Frank transmit when they are playing made me learn to playing with my right hand ... Today I have my group of gypsy jazz and we pass on to people the same joy that you and Frank transmit ... Thank you for everything and God bless your musicality. Greetings from your fan in Brazil :)
For reasons I can't express -- my favorite comment here is YOURS. Thanks for sharing Vallério Wiz I see you hail from the most musical nation on earth. They named their international airport in Rio after someone I always call 'The Cole Porter of Brazil' -- Antonio Carlos Jobim. Life long guitar heroes hail from there -- Luiz (A Day in the Life of a Fool) Bonfa. His 'Batucada' Chet Atkins and Lenny Breau included on their Standard Brands CD. Just as an aside both men, Chet and Lenny told me on separate occasions (in 1971) that they considered each other "the greatest guitarist in the world." Oh yes, and Laurindo Almeida. Playing solo accompaniment on Sammy Davis Jr's album of Broadway standards. And accompanying Sinatra on my favorite Sammy Cahn / Jimmy Van Heusen song, I Only Miss Her When I Think of Her -- but you knew all this. Left a note of my own on this day when we learned of Bucky's passing. 4/22/20. P.S. Brazil's latest gift -- maybe my favorite living finger-style virtuoso -- is Walter Rodriguez Jr whose versions of standards have attracted millions of views. His chord sequences are artless perfection. I told him recently the word that springs to mind is "coherence" -- everything flowing perfectly. Walter makes it look so easy. Check him out, you may agree he is the best ever from Brazil.
That’s the best Gypsy I’ve heard Tommy play So heart warming to watch his journey from Sydney pub band to cross over virtuoso playing with these jazz legends
I'm Brazilian, I always watch you on TH-cam, I have several albums of yours on my cell phone. I'm your fan, evolves a lot studying the way you play. Congratulations, Tommy Emmanuel, come to Brazil soon.
Buck so naturally Genius ❤ Make it so easy Perfect sound My music ❤ 1950 /60 Before that time we had the best classic Thanks tube for this video My tube ❤time machine ❤ Instant choice ❤
Few people know that Bucky pizzarelli is the root of whatever they are playing . He is a legend . Jazz legend revolutioner . At this age .....come ooonn Bucky
What I love about Bucky in particular is that he's 91 now and still playing and loving it. Still has the enthusiasm and love of playing he had as a youngster. I'm sure Tommy will be the same way. Tommy if you read this I'd love to see you do a rendition of "An Affair to Remember". It's a beautiful tune but sadly gets overlooked in the guitarists's repertoire. There's a lovely version of it by a Japanese pianist on youtube.
Yes. By my second-favorite composer, Harry (Salvatore Guaragna) Warren -- who still holds the record for the most No. 1 hit melodies -- 21 (correct) for almost as many artists. You'd know dozens of them. And given your appreciation of great, overlooked melodies, I just know that you love my favorite of his THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU -- my go-to song when I take a Gibson down from the wall at the guitar store. All this, triggered by your informed note, Jazzerson. Thanks for sharing. Left one of my own this day -- the day of Bucky's death. -- Mark B of the frozen North.
Bucky pizzarelli is,a great improviser. Tommy Enmanuel is one of most best acoustic guitarrist of the world. The group is fantastic!!!,
Bucky's choices are SO just right, including those sliding partial chords and half-diminished moves on the center strings.
the old dude is the bomb
Mr Pizzarelli's awereness of jazz harmony is beautifull... what he has shown in that few notes was outstanding.
buckys solo is simply the best. the way he finds melodies in his playing is legendary
RIP
Agreed, he blew the rest of them off that stage.
Yep it’s not how many notes you play
It’s how you play the notes ❤
He's such a master that he hardly uses any effort
Does anyone know the tuning on his guitar. Is it BEADGBE?
There is so much Django in this. Is not music THE greatest human creation ever? It is just joy as sound. And this is what these enormous talents share with us. Thank you.
Amén!
Love it when Tommy shows his sublime side, makes it more notable
RIP Mr Pizzarelli. What joy you brought to jazz guitar.
What a joy! And in my mind I have visions of Django nodding his head knowing his legacy is in safe and loving hands.
These 3 can’t be beat! Awesome playing
Bucky's chord solo is amazing
Bucky Pizzerelli .... great to see him again ... and of course the other great players
Bucky is 91. One of the great 7-string players. His son John ain't half bad either. Saw Bucky sit in with Les Paul about 14 years ago.
Had the pleasure of seeing Bucky , John and his brother at Nobody's Inn in Mahesh NJ ... A real treat for the ears .
I saw Bucky with Stephane Grappelli many years ago in Toronto at Massey Hall. Pure magic...
Dan martel
Bucky Pizzerelli! What beautiful colours he painted with his tones! A good reminder that you don't have to play fast. Less is more!
This was a perfect track to listen on my birthday. Mr. Pizzarelli is beyond comparison !
He was wonderful. May he rest in peace.
My nemesis….overplaying. I’ve fought it my whole life.
I absolutely love every second of this, and it's a special treat to see Bucky lay into the jam with all the finesse of the master he is.
Bucky showing How It’s Done!
The best meets the best ..and we all win.! thank you !

Excellent version Joe. Bravo!!!. 👏👍
Rest in peace, Bucky. Thank you for colouring people's live!
Damn … so glad I accidentally fell upon this 🥰✌🏼

Absolutely first class. Such a show of individual character and mutual respect between these world class artists. Very moving.

Musician never gets old. RIP Bucky.

First time hearing Bucky and his playing is unbelievable. Never seen the guitar played like that, and so effortlessly too. Wow!!!!!!!!!
Who knew real guitar music
That old Bucky, so nice!
Tommy Emmanuel and Frank Vignola make music just sound good. I dont think they have a bad song.
Bucky is amazing with anyone esp his Son John. These 4 put a smile on anyone’s face. This was prob performed on the East Coast. Audiences love them. Guitarists who gig just get better and better. Some of the best.
More Tommy for the guitar god!
MAGIC !!!
Bucky Pizzerelli ... bop till you drop ! :D
Love Bucky,so cool
Absolutely spectacular! RIP Bucky ...

What a combination. Tommy it's a treasure to watch you playing with these magnificent musicians.
Juuuuust one of the most gorgeous performances I've heard in, well, a while. Two in particular killed it, and they had grey hair
this feeling is so unique and great, subtle
such Great talent all on one stage WOW
I'm in Jazz guitar heaven
Of course Tommy he is amazing
Love the way he makes it look so easy.
Such a treat to hear musicians at this level of talent playing together. They all improvise so well.
These fellas are heros at the guitar
How I wish I would have been there to witness this 😊
Awesome,very cool!
that made me cry so beautiful.
Buckey's comping is sublime.
So _this_ is the power of jazz guitar. I don't know how to describe it, except that I seemed to hear almost every cool genre in there.
Wonderful mutual appreciation. What a lovely jam.
Une belle brochette de vrais pros...quels talents réunis !
I love this tune because it shows that you just need a good melody and lovely single notes. A good tune with less speed.
Wow, this brought tears of joy to my eyes.
This shows real guitar craftsmanship at its best..because it has heart at its root ..
Frank and Vinny are awesome.. saw them when they were touring with Tommy
