This video was recorded Novembr 3rd (with a bad lens so don't mind that). I'd encourage you to listen to it if you can't watch it. Alot of great conversation happening and questions being answered. Enjoy!
Fantastic conversation going on. What really built my confidence in my hair was becoming passionate about learning. Learning the anatomy of the hair follicles and cuticle, learning what products affect vs balance ph, learning WHY some ingredients and tools work better than others. For example, I was about to buy jbco for a diy hair oil but forced myself to keep doing research, just to learn that it’s entirely too alkaline for sensitive scalps, and I have eczema on mine! 💀 Every new thing I learn directly builds my confidence because I not only know what I’m putting in my hair but also why, what exactly it’s gonna do, and what I need to avoid or save for certain scenarios. There needs to be a trend of chasing knowledge in the community instead of feeling obligated to try EVERY new product launch and trend, hence why channels like yours and Curly Chemistry and stylists like Breanna are so invaluable. We LOVE y’all 🤍🤍🤍
Loving the suggestions from the stylist!!! 1. I clarify honestly like 3 weeks to a month but it really depends on the products in my hair. When I’m only using my shampoo, deep conditioner, and gel combo I’m using my all purpose shampoo. When I decide to give wash n gos a rest for the sake of doing 2 strand twists and such I will clarify after because of the build up of oil I’m applying to my scalp and hair from keeping a long term style in. 2. The sugar scalp scrub again is like once a month like the stylist said but again that’s with protective styles in. Gives a nice cooling relief and acts as a pre poo scalp treatment.
Omg what a wonderful conversation! I wish I was there too 😂 . To add to the convo.. I'm like you and your stylist. Sometimes I find my hair is fine and I don't need any clarifying but my scalp is saying otherwise. I found out going to a dermatologist that I have contact dermatitis and I need to stay away from fragrances and certain essential oils on my scalp. Unfortunately, so many shampoos and other products have fragrances and essential oils. I'm using the Salicylic acid or the glycolic acid from the Inkey List once a week and it's definitely helping my scalp. I've also deciding to incorporating silicone serums on my ends because winters are harsh. To answer one of your stylist questions regarding chelating, the most common ingredients are EDTA, sodium gluconate, phytic acid... They help remove heavy metals and chemicals like chlorine from the hair. I have hard water in my city so I try to chelate every couple of months.
I really enjoyed everything about this video! 🥰.. Great conversation and she took her time and gave your scalp and hair so much love ❤️… now let me watch Pt 2 😉🥰💙
👋🏾 here just trying to get your thoughts on the olaplex chelating shampoo. I have it and on the fence about using it. How does it compare to the 4c one? You know that I’m a huge supporter 🫶🏾 thanks for sharing your journey✨
ty for this video and all your exploration. maybe i missed it but did breanna suggest a shampoo that is actually an all purpose formula? i also use ag and had been using it each week (followed by innersense hydrating shampoo) but i don't think i need the ag that often. but then i wonder if the hydrating shampoo is cleansing enough. i use a leave in and twisting cream so i don't think those are super heavy products but yeah i'm a little confused
The pree poo when washed doesnt need to feel like its washed fully out it will wash out with one or 2 usual washes but you will over time start seeing what your hair would be like if ur God intended sebum had fully coated the curly strands ..so your hair will feel different for a while because some can tend to prefer having their hair look and feel drier or more set but over time the hair strands will have breakage or splits and more cuts will be needed because whille it looks better style wise health wise with time the hair will become more fragile just have the appearance of being more set... but if it works for you thats ok but just be careful having your hair be too dry even if it looks good..its not just about the look but the health of the strands .. many havent yet seen the true texture of their hair becuase of how they like the hair to feel or look, when if given a chance the hair would shock them of a beauty they never dreamed of..and because of the lack of sebum spread among our hair types we can deprive our strands ... for some people healthy hair becomes like heavy locks and then they see the beauty and health but some wont see this if we choose to decide for our hair what we want it to feel like or look like ..but again i love your hair its just when u said that line i wanted to recommend to you to be careful to not be afraid to let your hair show you its potential and dont keep it to dry and i dont mean only water i mean also oils, sebum, products that that hydrate to set moisture in place etc etc as long as its washed out you will be fine ..but do what works for you as your hair looks healthy ive just seen many hair looking healthy growing beautifully and when waist length they have to cut it all off even tho its styling lovely because the strands are damaged and can take awhile to see in some cases because of dryness.. so just wanted to say listen to your hair as well and not just the feel or look if you get what i mean..many black people our hair becomes heavy not with product overload but with the health of it from sebum coverage or products bringing this in and being washed out...our hair isn't all light weight as other races but we have to let our hair show us which we are because some have light weight hair but some don't its why it was termed as locks yrs ago not just dreads but even combed out hair because some had a weight with it...but society made us think clean feels light and dirty feels heavy and while this is true, for hair when products and oils and sebum is washed and the needed protection remains and surrounds the strands we will then say it feels lighter or heavier being the correct feel toward a healthy journey where we meet the real God meant true texture of our hair if you get what i mean. With protection it wont be the same weight : light or heavy. Because light would mean be careful damage can come soon, heavy means product build up wash out.. but protected hair for us blacks especially wont be the same weight as stipped hair will feel if you get what i mean.. another race can go light after washing because their sebum will coat the hair easier right after ..our hair wants to coat but needs help so washed hair thats unprotected will feel light but protection for most blacks few exempted will add weight and its important to know the difference as product build up is heavy hence i said ad er to both as the balance.. its why caucasian curly haired people add moisture clays and oils to wash on healthy journey and dont do much after because that weightt protects and they grow locks like our hair type because they need such a routine..then u see their hair looking heavy and yet fluffy no product build up but their curls and weight and length is woa and blacks the same woa but with an er to the light or heavy feel .. even the ones with light light hair for the health there is some form of protection even if just an oil thats when growth remains and hair is healthy so the balance is key..its important adding protection for our texture if health is the goal... anyway great video lots of love❤
I like what you wrote. I agree. I prepoo with a deep conditioner or conditioner on dry or damp hair & it changed my hair. I think I like applying it on dry hair results better.
Glad that you posted this! It's really helpful to hear a stylist's like Breanna's pov again. also really interested in seeing how you're channel moves to being more self-care based(?), I really enjoyed your diary-esque type of content already so seeing you go a step deeper would be great. can't wait for pt2!!
Glad it was helpful! I'm excited for the new videos too. I feel like there is a gap in what I want to share vs what I am so hopefully the videos fill that gap.
I currently only put oil in my hair in the morning after it’s completely dry and styled. Sometimes I’ll only put it on the day I style it but other times I’ll add more for the shine and aroma.
We discussed it in the video. I’d asked her to use the Olaplex Chelating treatment because the month prior I was trying Bounce Curl products and they were quite heavy on my hair, and I knew I’d be coming to her so I waited and continued using the Bounce Curl clarifyer (which was more like a gentle shampoo). Once the treatment was done she basically said that I didn’t need it in the first place (this was her first time using the chelating treatment since I purchased it and asked her to use it on me) so she clarified, did the treatment, and used a gentle shampoo to cleanse the treatment off of my hair. It was more so just experimenting on my end. My hair is fine though. No harm done.

@Neesha242 thank you. Yes that works nicely as well!! Blessings to you and yours🙏🌺
I agree with adding oil/ cream thats probably why people who omitted those ingredients grew dry and split overtime
I like your stylist. Conversation is so natural
She’s so down to earth, and just so open and honest. Love her.
Brittany, have you tried the Eden Bodyworks Coconut Co-Wash? You may like it.
I haven’t but I’ve tried their curl defining cream and I love it. Thanks for the suggestion.
hi please can u tell me what olaplex 1 smells like
This is a great video, thanks for sharing. I wish I had heard your stylist’s opinion on a detox about a year ago 😂
😂 Thanks for watching!

quick question, do you put any oils in your hair before you tie it up in your scarf at night or after you take your hair out in the morning?
I currently only put oil in my hair in the morning after it’s completely dry and styled. Sometimes I’ll only put it on the day I style it but other times I’ll add more for the shine and aroma.
@@BrittanyMia Thank you so much for the response, what brand oil do you usually put in?
@@lametime7491 Ouidad Mongongo Oil and AG The Oil. You’re welcome!
I still want that little white comb. Does anyone know where I can buy it?
I don't think it's a comb. It looks like a gua sha tool for head massages.
❤❤
Bree why did you wash her hair so many times and for so long?. I didn't think her hair was dirty considering how often she washes her hair.

Can you please try the Ouai products? 🫶🏾
