@@KJD897 DVDs Don hold nearly as much relevance as they did 20 years ago. Believe me, I was there. I'm old enough to remember when nerflix was a dvd-by-mail company. And I loved it. Back in those days, DVDs were expensive. Particularly TV shows on DVD. And I'll focus more on the TV shows on DVD aspect, more than the movies on DVD aspect. Because movies being available on home media was no longer a novelty. And renting movies on home media wasn't a novelty either by the time netflix rolled around. It was quite commonplace by then. But I'm old enough to remember when a DVD of any given TV show's season was anywhere from $40-$60. Kids today will never understand those outrageous prices. But being able to watch an entire season of a TV show, not recorded from television, and on your own terms, on your own schedule, was quite the novelty. It's something thats just impossible to explain to kids nowadays. Back then, if an episode of your favorite show premiered, and you missed it, then you missed it. Plain and simple. You werent going to ever see it. Maybe, if you were lucky, they might re-air it on an off week. And again, thats a big maybe. They might choose to re-air an episode you already saw. Or they might not re-air any previous episodes at all, ever. Kids today simply can't comprehend that concept. Today, if something airs, there's 100 different methods you have of viewing it. Most of them being very easy, simple, and legal. So, at least for me, thats where netflix played a huge role in my life. Sure I rented movies from netflix, but not really. I usually rented movies from Hollywood Video. I was a Hollywood Video guy personally, not a blockbuster guy. I found Hollywood Video better when it came to niche titles, and you had a better chance of getting a new title. Whereas at blockbuster, the new titles would be gone by tuesday afternoon. But Hollywood Video would (95% of the time) still have copies of new releases on tuesday night, which is when I visted the store. And their new releases were for 5 days, while blockbuster's new releases were only for 2 days. And the late fees were insane at blockbuster. Hollywood Video had late fees too. But they were very reasonable. If you kept a video for 5 extra days, the late fee was maybe $1. And I honestly had no problem paying them. Whereas Blockbuster charged $2-$3 per day, per title. But Netflix was great, because they had no late fees. And thats perfect for watching TV shows. I could now watch them at my own speed. Some shows, I watched an entire disc in one sitting (binging), while others, might take me a few days, or pergaps even a week to get through. But the thing is, with netflix, there was no pressure. I didnt feel compelled to watch it in 'X' amount of time, before I had to bring it back to the store. That was a freedom I had never experienced before. I had rented a few TV show titles from Hollywood Video. Most notably In Living Color, because I had never seen the original run. I was too young. But by the time it was released to DVD, I was a teen. And I was compelled to watch it because it had Jim Carrey in it. And Jim Carrey, by this point, had already become the megastar Jim Carrey. I'm 100% positive that Jim Carrey is the reason why they made In Living Color DVDs in the first place. They wanted to capitalize off of the sucess of Jim Carrey. Especially considering a lot of people had never seen, or heard of In Living Color, or even knew Jim Carrey was on it, since it was his first breakout role. He's not even credited as Jim Carrey on In Living Color. In the theme song, his name is listed as James Carrey. That's how early it was. He hadnt even adopted the name Jim yet. So because I got those from Hollywood Video, I consumed them really fast. Binging at its finest. I probably consumed them much faster than you're meant to consume them. But needless to say, I developed a deep admiration for Jim Carrey (more than I already had with his movies), the Wayans, and everyone else on the cast. I think they are all brilliant, and incredible beyond words. And I think In Living Color has always been a far superior show than SNL. Now obviously I dont know if I would hold that opinion if In Living Color had been running for 50 years. So I still belive it's an unfair comparison. I think Keenan Ivory Wayans is far funnier than Lorne Michaels. But Keenan Ivory didn't run In Living Color for 50 years, like Lorne has with SNL. But had I gotten them through netflix, I probably still would've watched them fast. But not as fast as I did. But the reason I didnt get them on netflix, was simply because I saw them at Hollywood Video, not netflix. Netflix never recommended me In Living Color. And there lies the problem with the algorithm. Stores dont have personalized algorithms, that are specifically catered to you. So the netflix algorithm had no idea that I liked Jim Carrey. I already had seen all of his movies, so I never rented them from netflix. And had I not had a Hollywood Video membership, I may have never watched In Living Color. It's possible that maybe I would've sometime in the future. But probably not. Because my fandom for Jim Carrey fizzled down after the 2000s. And the 2010s is when I learned of The Duck Factory. The sitcom Jim Carrey did in 1984. Now had they released it on DVD in the 2000s at the height of Jim Carrey mania, I definitely would've watched it. But they didn't. And even today, I still havent watched past the first episode. I just don't really care. If I had learned about In Living Color in the 2010s, and that it had Jim Carrey on it. I would've thought "thats nice" maybe checked it out, once. And thought, thats cool. And probably never watch it again after that. Like with The Duck Factory. If they were releasing In Living Color on DVD for the first time today, instead of 20 years ago. I guarantee you that I wouldn't care.

The only one really worth it for me when it comes to the previously released FOP DVDs is the audio commentary on Abacatastrophe I believe, I'll have to try getting a copy of that whenever I order the complete series set.
