I have a 24 year old son with autism he hits me sometimes other times he can be loving . We are in the process of finding a residential . I read your book when bad thighs happen to good people. I pray every day church on Sunday. I ask GOD Why . But when I read this book and hear you speak it helps me understand. So thank you Rabbi Kushner
R.I.P. Rabbi Kushner, 4-28-2023. I knew him from my friends who went to Temple Israel in Natick, MA. A great person and easy to talk to when I was just a child.
I'll take all the Kushner wisdom I can get! I am a non-religious but spiritual, 70 year old guy, and I am convinced that this guy has the answers to most of life's important issues. One of the highlights of my life was talking with him 1:1 at a reception for an event a number of years ago - we talked for about 10-15 minutes - LOL, much of the time, I was tongue-tied, but it was still such a rewarding experience.
I love this beautiful person...I listen to his writings almost every night with audible .com.....he is the first and foremost person that has helped me in my sojourn through life...his works at my right hand and Joseph Telushkins on my left....We also have the same birthday....With love and deep abiding appreciation....A. Solomon Rothschild
Rabbi is a very smart person and I am immensely grateful for his books, I dare to say however, that the crimes that we make to 56billion animals a year are tragic and in our cruelty we show we are different to them indeed but unfortunately the comparison is not in our favour.
I like much of what Harold Kushner writes in his book, but when he says god doesn't personally know who you are, to me this is a devastating statement ! When he talks of a hereafter his ideas are of a vague exsitance that quite frankly doesn't make me feel hopeful ! His idea of a God fashioned in his image of a God is great if you are healthy young and have a college degree. As the late Dr Robert Schuller use to say false hope is better than no hope ! I do believe in his belief of a God that doesn't intervene, but ultimately Jesus seems to offer more hope !
I left the following out, I know Rabbi Harold Kushner doesn't believe in a place called hell, and since his idea of a God that will not ultimately judge each person, then besides the personal pain they endured in life, Hitler and Himmler walks off Scott free ? I think that's B.S. as the farmers use to say in our community ! Even us as humans if someone breaks the law he has to go to jail or pay a price for what he did ! Why should we expect less from God ?
A strange and sad fact about Progeria. More than one individual who has had the syndrome, including Rabbi Kushner’s son, have died either on the day or the day after their birthdays. Most notably American actor, Mickey Hayes who died on his 20th birthday and South African Painter and DJ artist, Leon Botha who died the day after his 25th birthday. Progeria is a sad and painful disease, both for the patients with the disorder and their loved ones, especially the parents, no parent should outlive their child. I would not wish this disease on anybody.
Correction: Leon Botha died a day after his 26th birthday. He was one of the oldest people living with Progeria at the time. He died on June.5.2011, RIP Legend.

Thank you, Rabbi Kushner!
Rabbi Kushner's books have taught and helped me so much. I especially love his class When Bad Things Happen to Good People but this one as well!
Of all the Rabbi's I have listened to this is the one I just love!!! I wish I could meet him in person!!! He is my FAVORITE!!
He is so wise. There are a lot of wise rabbis on TH-cam. Rabbi Terski is also good.
