  • Amazooooon!! It might not be the best, but it can be awfully cheap! The Junkviews, where we pinch the pennies as hard as we dare!
    This is the Junkview of the Hobbysoul "4pcs RC 1.9 Mud Slingers Tire Weight 4.72" which are a unique(?) iteration of the RC4WD Mud Slinger, in that these are a "normal" class 2 size as 121mm tall.

    I have these on five rigs, I might be crazy but they really perform for me. We mostly trail with occasional rock but they seem to do well on most surfaces we come across.

    For those who don’t have 30+ rigs that price might not be as much of an issue! I love the way you talked yourself into being almost ok with these. Just following along with the thought process it seemed to me like you were stuck thinking that the Amazon tire selection has no business trying to break into the upper tier of performance, but isn’t that a good thing?

    Whatever brings enjoyment, rather it's $5 or $1000, is worth it. We only live the time we got, then we're gone and will never get a 2nd chance. I don't have any of that style boggers/swampers/slingers lol, but have always liked those in the full size world and RC too. I had some Imex ones on a nitro Jato way back on like 2004 or 05ish. That thing would shred every tire I put on it. I usually ran proline moabs and had the best luck with those lasting a bit longer.
    When I was a kid and first started racing dirt bikes, in a cross country series, my 2nd season I got a new bike. Was my first or second race with it, brand new at the time, 99 YZ125. During the practice day, I fell over on a rocky uphill section, and a rock ripped the seat cover. When I got back to camp, my dad went ape shit on me. Cussing me out, screaming loud as he could in my face, threatening to whip my ass. Luckily my best friend at the time was also there racing, and his dad finally came and told my dad to stop. That's just part of the sport. Things are going to break and get damaged, there's no way around it. Said we had no business being there if he thought differently. My dad calmed down, and never said another thing to me when I wrecked and something broke. We just fixed it and kept going. It was a life lesson that I learned, the way to see any hobby or sport I do from that point on.

    Can you find a 4.65" tire that would do as well in all terrain types? Sometimes we pay a bit more for that size/perf combo. I don't think I'd buy them, but for a trail rig that can crawl and doesn't require a lift it's pretty good. I think it's in a niche that might keep it from being more popular.

  • @francotarantino982

    I would like to see you go back to Slickrock at the end of the tire test protocol. It seems that, in the beginning, the tires have no break in... Then you drive for a while... Then they seem to do better... But you don't go back to the bean.

    • @FaithSaraG

      The main problem with those is that the front axle has negative caster at ride height. Also the shocks are trash.

    Ok so I know you modify canyon trails so now try cutting out all the small lugs on the mudslingers, it will be day and night difference in grip, “ for the better of course “.
    I can’t believe no one has suggested it yet, because that’s usually the first thing people do with that style tire, even for rocks. If you’re not comfortable just do two of them and see.

    I ran these in hobby soul brand in the 2.2 at 4.94 inches as my very first after market tire. I still have them on that rig. They are shockingly good. I then recently bought them In 1.9 and same quality.
    Hobby soul has been my guilty pleasure since day 1.
    I think they are worthy of a chance by anyone who hasn't given them one.
    Edit : can we see a showdown of
    These vs the holds. To see if the 52 dollars and hobby soul is worthy of no longer being called a junk tire? Or will it stay in the junk view category and over priced?

    • @CrawlerCanyon

      I did a video early in the year where I tested about half a dozen sets of tires in the rain. Not even mud-- just rain. Cleanup took about 2 hours.
      So if you're volunteering to clean all the wheels, tires, and rigs, come on down-- I'll do a whole mud test. Even though I know the results now.
      A mud tire needs big lugs and big space between those lugs. That's it. Compound barely matters.

    It seems like your review on this tires very biased because it's a brand you haven't heard of hobby soul is an up-and-coming Tire Company and rim beadlock designer. I like them particularly because they perform as a name brand what are a lot less expensive. When buying a complete set it is as good if not better than Scorpion jconcepts and other brands that I've tried. I think you need to give them a chance from what I seen the video they're performing very well. And no I don't work for hobby soul I just really like the brand and have not been disappointed yet.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Viewed through the lens of how they did, yeah-- they did well. But at that pricepoint, they're about $5 more than a set of JConcepts Tusks, which is, IMO, just INSANE.
      That pricepoint is basically reserved for tires. You can get Ruptures for the same money, and there would be no competition. If these were even $30 a set tey'd be outstanding. But they're quite literally outclassed by "big brand" tires for the same-- or less-- money.

    If this tire would have scored in the 90's even for a "Quick view" then I don't think it's fair to penalize it so hard just for being an Amazon tire, especially if the inserts actually performed well too. Your normal "Junk view" starts with replacing the foams immediately. I think this is further evidence they shouldn't automatically be labeled junk and It's only fair to consider that with the price of these tires. 🤓

  • @explod329
    @explod329 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Please do not bash these tires! You are using a MUD tire on rocks! Come on man! They are way cheaper than what you paid for these. You can get all four for $45.00
    You earned a thumbs down from me. You present yourself as a fan boy. To all the others, ignore this review! If you are doing trails, woods, logs, mud, water, gravel these things are amazing.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you've personally tested an extensive list of tires, you will have gained the room to criticize. Until then, you're just running your mouth. I stand by the non-recommendation for these, as they COST MORE THAN BRAND NAME TIRES, so it doesn't matter how good they are. If you can get better performance for less money, what's the point in buying these? Do you owe the company something? "All four for $45?" is your defense? Hanlon's Razor hard at work here. I hope.
