How time flies. The shyness, humility and smile of Rafa endure and are so endearing. I'll miss this amazing warrior, but I'll be cheering for him at the Davis Cup ❤
.....where did the time go ?!?!?! Unbelievable and sad, i am 57 and get panic attacks when i think about , I was fine until 49. At 50 i started a slow overall collapse....
This is a true athlete full of sportsmanship. His main quality, in my opinion, is/was his humility. He never was over confident, arrogant, or disrespectful. He made the game better and other players better. We will never forget Rafa. Vamos, Rafa!
This guy was always my favorite tennis player, and I'm not even a tennis fan, but I always liked to watch him play (and sweat profusely, and that routine before each serve) and I admired the way he never gave up when he would get down early and always find a way to come back and win. Guy was a fighter, and a true champion in every sense by the way he played.
Rafa is my all time favorite! Rafa is the reason I started following and watching Tennis. Not only Tennis, he's humble and good sportsmanship. Definitely will miss him ❤
Rafa gorgeous and nice to talk to, natural and shy, and great after all even then. It was easy to think he will be a great champion and a legend. Vamos Rafa ❤🇪🇸
It's funny watching players get interviewed out of context. Nadal looks a little uncomfortable here but what a great representative and champion of tennis he has been.
@@Shankar-Bhaskar Nadal is intrinsically shy and not as extrovert as Federer or Djokovic but a shy person isn't necessarily always a timid one. Take Sachin Tendulkar for example. He is one of the nicest and most courteous cricketers ever to play the game but at the same time hit every bowler in the world at his leisure. Would you call Tendulkar timid? No. Just like that Nadal is one of the greatest Tennis players in the history and no timid player could ever achieve what Nadal did. So calling him timid is just plain nonsensical. As far the irony of an Indian calling a professional sportsman timid. Well, Indians are few of the most docile, subservient and skittish people I ever came across in UK, probably second only to Bangladeshis. So it's like the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm curious how you post these videos so fast after an announcement. He just announced his retirement. I know it's probably automated. But to go into your archives and pull specific clips this fast is impressive.
@@greg.murphy no-one needed advanced word in this case. The whole tennis world has been anticipating this for years. I love the man more than any other sportsman but he should have retired at least a year ago..
The more I listen to these interviews, Dave wasn't nearly as good an interviewer as Johnny Carson. Too abrupt an interviewing style that can sound more like an inquisition rather than a conversation.
trust me, he’s a lot better than this. the difference between Dave and Jay is Dave is a broadcaster. that’s something Carson even said. you’re only as good as your guests.
Such a silly interviewer, why doesn't he ask him serious questions rather than as if he is looking for laughs and talking to a 3 year old. He asks a question, like "how long do you want to play, you know Borg and McEnroe had a rivalry - what happened to the question of how long does he want to play"? What an awful interviewer!
I believe Nadal's other-worldly mental toughness and personal goodness came from the mindset of going into every single match always believing he COULD win but never believing he WOULD win. 100% confidence and 0% arrogance.
Did Letterman do ANY research for this interview? He didn't seem to know Rafa was from Majorca, thought he manufactured racquets, didn't seem to understand the concept of sponsorship for a product, what an idiot.
He would be a good guest for the Barbara Gaines Show, which I hope is back from hiatus soon. Is there a writers’ strike or something? We need more Barbara. And that other lady too. And the chatty old guy. They have chemistry. And I am sure Rafa Nadal would fit right in. Ok I am done now.
He is so shy when that undergarment pic was shown how did he ever do the photoshoot 😅 with federer and him both retired tennis has lost the charm for me i still like to watch medvedev and carlos and sinner but that magic isnt there for me anymore 😢

For his channel, he uploads videos weekly, and if any career or life changes, another video. Nadal retires even sooner than Federer.
