Thank you for this!! My Roomba 600 series started making this god awful sound out of nowhere - so glad the fix was this simple! Heads up to anyone who might try to do it only halfway like I did - it IS the motor being dry that causes the sound. Just cleaning it will NOT stop the screeching. Be better than me!!
Thank you for the video! I have a Roomba 681, with a slightly different dust bin. It turned out the screw holding the motor was under a sticker. I peeled the sticker off and was able to clean and WD40 the motor unit.
Hi! Mine it's just a mess, I cleaned it up but when install the whole thing again the motor of the fan starts automatically, even when it's turned off, idk what to do, help pleaseeeee
Sounds like a circuit board issue. I’d recommend taking a look at the main motherboard. There could be a resistor that’s faulty, and that could be giving the motor power when it’s not supposed to.

Thanks!!! This video saved my roomba 🥳🥳🥳
Hey I lost the spring when I was cleaning my Roomba. Do you know the dimensions of the compression spring for the bin?
Thank you for the video! I missed the spring when dismantled w/o awareness. So it can not attach to the irobot body.
Awesome👍👌
