J/cal is i think a weird unit because j and cal are units of energy ( 1cal≈4.1j )so shouldn't the unit of the constant be nothing. Or is a weird unit like per second per second used to measure the sion rate of a star the first per second is the angular velocity while the second one is per unit time and yes these per seconds dont cancel Edit:typo
Because it essentially is a unit of conversion. J/cal is dimensionless as you might have guessed. But it’s just there to provide a ratio for conversion. As in any scenario there are 4.18 J/cal
