This is a slow experiment so you have to keep patience when the temperature changes because of change in flow. the flow of water should also be controlled with delicacy super slow like an adiabatic process. the temperature diff between two thermometers should be equal for this experiment which generally students don't care but it is the core concept of this experiment Other than this, No leakage and proper connections are just some basic instructions.
I have made a general video on errors in which log error has also been included... For specific cases, it is just a matter of the formula of log error.

Yes it can be but we have to change the value of specific heat. In this formula we have used this for water as 4.2 Joule per K per gram. Just you need to change this value.
If temp diff is more than 10 degrees it means the wire inside is heated too much or the flow of water is quite low. In both cases, the dissipation of heat in its surrounding increases and which as a result increases the chances of error.
@@ritikpawar5893 You set the flow of water in this experiment using a screw based pinch. If you make it tight very less water flows and as a result water gets more time to get heat from the heated wire and hence its temperature increases more at the outlet.
Need patience but not two days. Lee,s is the simplest among other thermal phy experiments. Juat heat it to its max quickly and then note thw cooling curve. And some basic things thats it
Your outlet is free and open so you need not to maintain pressure. It will remain constant by default. and the minute variation will not change anything because the used liquid is not that much compressible. If this experiment would have done with the gases then you this would have been a considerable issue.
generally we believe that the radiated heat is much less than the heat taken by the water coz from outside it is insulated to cause minimum error. 2nd we perform this experiment 2 times for different flow rates but same temp differences and then equate them. This over all ensures that the dissipation part cancels out from both sides of the equation.

Thank you so much...great help
What are the sources of error in this experiment?? Please share
This is a slow experiment so you have to keep patience when the temperature changes because of change in flow.
the flow of water should also be controlled with delicacy super slow like an adiabatic process.
the temperature diff between two thermometers should be equal for this experiment which generally students don't care but it is the core concept of this experiment
Other than this, No leakage and proper connections are just some basic instructions.
Sir, this experiment can be performed with AC SOURCE??.
If yes, what the needy to be done with the apparatus and procedure???
Sir, please🙏 reply.
No DC source so that it is easy to calculate dissipated heat. You can perform this using AC as well but then the expression would bea little different
Why should the flow rate be less than 1 cc/sec written in step 1??
Because it should get ample time to absorb the heat at very first place otherwise the results are not gonna be accurate.
Thank you sir for you reply...I have one more question...what would have happen if we use AC source instead of DC source
@@theimmortal6447 then you have to take rms value of the current which is responsible for heating by definition...
Why do we prefer constant flow method?
Reply plz
Coz we wanna assure equal heat taken all the time and only then the temp in thermometer 2 will be a constant
🙏 Thanks a lot
Why the heating coil in the form of helix?
so that it can heat up the water tube most efficiently
Can you please make video that How to calculate log error of these thermal Experiment which you taught us .
It's a humble request

Can we use mercury instead of water??
Yes but that would be expansive and heavy...
What are the other methods for finding the value of j?
Famous joule,s experiment and there are many can be designed
How can we increase difference in temperature without changing tha current?
By increasing the flow of water
Can this exp be used for other liquids?
Yes it can be but we have to change the value of specific heat. In this formula we have used this for water as 4.2 Joule per K per gram. Just you need to change this value.

Why temperature different should not more than 10C?
If temp diff is more than 10 degrees it means the wire inside is heated too much or the flow of water is quite low. In both cases, the dissipation of heat in its surrounding increases and which as a result increases the chances of error.
@UCsVapi_Iu6vx81_OnCzgoqQ My pleasure :-)

How to find its log error ....?
How do we apply a correction for the law of heat due to radiation?

Is the resistance of coil is same when heat ?if not,why not?
Resistance of the coil increases when current passes from it because of heat. This is because it is made up of metal. A common behaviour...
