    I am very upset about this version of the story. My dad Sheriff Frank Weston gave the FBI the information they had to aid in the arrest of Claude Dallas. My dad worked the entire time with his team from WINNEMUCCA to get Claude Dallas. This film is so off. They would of NEVER found Dallas that day if it wasn't for Sheri Frank Weston. No mention of this amazing Sheriff nor his team that put their lives on the line. If your doing any true story, then get it right!!!

      Dear Jake: If he was such a "loner", then why did a jury let him off the hook two times ? It's because most folks in that part of the wilderness hate law enforcement as much as he did. That those cops were so "surprised" by those verdicts shows how out of touch they are with public sentiment in that neck of the woods. Dallas was no "loner". In Ohio, game wardens do not need a search warrant to enter your home to investigate any crimes related to Ohio wild game

    • @mikemalliski8380
      @mikemalliski8380 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dodge Ram The area sure has a lot to do with an outcome of events. Ohio is of course more populated compared to Idaho and the mentality of people changes with the area. Most of the contact ODNR, Ohio Department of Natural Resources officers have, is usually after the fact. Reported poaching by other hunters, witnesses, of poachers is the most common type of reported crimes of wildlife in Ohio. And, if enough probable cause is found, the ODNR Officers can enter a suspect’s property and his home and search for poached game. Due to the fact if the ODNR officers don’t act quickly, that contraband evidence may be lost or destroyed. I tried to make the comparison of the tent as being the same as a home and that tent was his home. Wild life officers do have a dangerous job in Ohio as well as other parts of this country. This was an interesting and unfortunate story for the two officers in Idaho

    The statement "a 357 Magnum is way more power than trappers would need". Stupidity shines. Most outdoorsmen I know carry a minimum of 357 Mag and many carry 44 Magnum! And, yes, revolvers. If you're hunting and trapping small critters the 22 caliber rifles make sense but the large bore revolvers are for the other critters you might encounter. When I deer hunt I carry a 30-06 rifle and a 357 Mag on my hip. When they were recovering spent casings the only cases they should have found were 22; since the 357 shots were from a revolver they don't eject after firing like with autopistols. He would not have dumped the 357s there. Not sure how accurate the re-enactment is but the revolver recovered from his Jeep was a single action revolver; one would presume he was carrying a SA 357 revolver which supports dumping somewhere else but with the second showing of the shooting the gun is definitely a double action revolver. With single action revolvers you have to eject each case one at a time by manually pushing on the ejector rod as you turn the cylinder. Also, when the cops walked through the shooting with Stevens, the pretend bodies were laying different from the actual shooting scene.

Baltimore drug task force destroyed hundreds of lives and many of the agents are in prison.. however their is always some way out to not result in murder and this is true for police as well... police always have the upper hand and their is many situations were they kill and get away with murder,, Betty shely for example shot and killed a black man with 10 cops behind her and she had cover she just said he was reaching for a gun,,, no taze no bean bag no mace just lead...

    Leave it to the media to not tell the story as it really happened and spread bullshit. All right, Claude Dallas was in the wrong. He was poaching and he did kill Bill Pogue and Conley Elms. I can't speak for Elms but Pogue's son is a friend of my family's. Those who knew Bill Pogue usually do not have good things to says about him. He was a bully! Kinda like someone who couldn't make it as a police officer so he became a game warden. This video depicts Bill Pogue as someone who was rational and he was not. Pogue tried to bust one of my uncles for poaching elk. My uncle wasn't even hunting at the time and he was unarmed. Pogue had his hand one his gun the entire time he was talking to my uncle and being a complete and total asshoie leaving my uncle scared. Intimidating people and showing off his authority was Pogue's way. Claude Dallas said that he felt that his life was threatened and I believe that after hearing what people in my area had to say about Pogue. Even those people including my uncle will tell you that Claude Dallas was in the wrong. But was it self defense? Very possibly. Claude Dallas is not an evil man like the likes of Ted Bundy. He's a man who was born 100+ years too late and would have been perfect in the 1800's American wilderness.

    I was 12 when Dallas killed the wardens in 1981. I lived in Eastern Oregon and hunted and fished with my dad and uncles along the Idaho border. I recall Conley Elms was a nice guy , easy to get along with. Others proclaimed Bill Pogue had a entirely different reputation, not many had to many kind words to say about the guy. Dallas was poaching and as a hunter I despise poachers, they give honest hunters a bad name. Dallas thought the law didn't apply to him, well if as he claimed self defense why hide the bodies and run? Well thats simple he killed those men because he ( Dallas) figured the law would not see things his way, they didn't and he went to prison, escaped went to prison again, he was released in 2005.

    I met Claude Dallas at least 3 times and Bill Pouge twice. It's common to stop and chat for a few when you share a one lane fire road out hunting or fishing and need to get around each other. One time we offered Mr Dallas one of those raspberry filled powdered doughnuts everyone used to bring on these outings and he reciprocated by giving me a rattlesnake skin with 6 rattles for me to make a hatband. I was 13 and always liked him.
    I met Bill Pouge fishing with my dad when I was 9.
    He came skidding up in his truck kicking gravel all over me and then held me at gunpoint to check my fishing license and when my dad came up the riverbank to see what the yelling was about he holsterd his sidearm but never took his hand off the butt. Two years later we were helping a truck stuck in a snowbank and he told us to stop blocking the road, belittled us, threatened us and then gave my uncle a ticket.
    He was a horrible law enforcement officer and a worse human being.
    It's no wonder that in the state that he worked, lived and was known finding a jury that was sympathetic was impossible and they had to try him in a different state

      Public land belongs to the public. When individuals decide to take more from the public lands than can be sustained, they are stealing from everyone else. This is true of grazing as well. If you want to graze public lands you pay a fee which helps manage the damage from domestic animals on the land. It gives you exclusive rights for a certain period. Without this arrangement there might be 100 ranchers competing to graze their herds on a piece of terrain that can't sustain a fraction of that load. The public loses, wildlands lose, and all those ranchers will be shooting at each other.

Clearly there had to be some kind of doubt, for the jury not to fully believe the governments story on the killings of the game wardens & clearly he had proof or some kind of evidence to show his life was endangered in prison by the government.
