I was U.S.NAVY. WE had to pull into portsmouth for temporary repairs.. we ummmm contacted with underwater item.. at the mouth of denhelder bay.. deep water.. we tied to pier there. We lost both sonar domes uss Farragut ddg37. Spent 3 days for investigation review board and stop minor flooding.. we could look out into the bay from pierside.. we noticed then soviet recovery ships.. mini sub attached..2/926 soviet destroyers 1/patrol frigate. We also saw soviet then Mig 23's keeping a combat air patrol..official record stated we hit underwater fuel line... scratching my head. We never saw recovery oil booms at collision site.. smh.. crew was ordered to say nothing. Investigation board questioned everyone.. we as a tight crew never had a bad word about our commanding officer.. then Cmdr Jeremy BOORDA.. who's career took him to highest naval office..CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS.. ONLY OFFICER TO SERVE THERE THAT WAS NOT AN ACADEMY GRAD.. CNO BOORDA WAS A SAILORS SAILOR may he rest in peace.. TIME MAGAZINE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES TRYING TO DESTROY FINEST DESTROYER COMMANDER IN THE FLEET. I HAD PLEASURE OF SERVING UNDER HIM FOR 18 MONTHS..I screwed up and mast in front of him Ordered punishment of 100 dollar fine. 5 days extra duty 5 days no liberty..I deserved it. Later that night came to galley ask if I was ok.. he enjoyed the spaghetti gravy at supper.. from what wardrobe messcooks told me . He ate 2 bowls of gravy alone after dinner with bread.. capt asked for recipes.. capt was told I ask to use family (mom) Recipes.. lolol he asked me very nicely if he could have it.. I told him it's family top top secret lolol During that patrol he asked a few if I give it to them nooool.he smiled. Captain BOORDA WAS A GREAT COMMANDING OFFICER..

And you don’t think his mum was being disrespectful? She was, by putting that sign on his shoes, she was. If a tourist had done that, there would be an uproar on here. But because it’s his mum, I guess it’s alright then. ( not🤦🏼
The thing I liked the most. Even though she is his mother she still confirmed with the attending police officer it was okay to do what she wanted to do. Absolutely no expectation or entitlement from her.
Went through the same experience when on guard duty at the Residence of His Excellency the Governor of British Gibraltar. My mum had her pic taken next to me. It was the proudest moment in her life, especially when a UK tourist commented to her " You're certainly taken by that trooper" to which she replied" Of course I am, he's my son."
Awe, I love that! Thank you for sharing that lovely story with us and even more thanks for your service to the British people, from one of your American cousins (and an American wounded warrior wife)❤❤❤ what you all do/have done in service is amazing and will always have my respect.
Momma is so proud of her boy. He has taken on a very difficult job and does so with honor. He will always remember the day his Momma visited him at work for the rest of his life. God bless and don't forget to tell God that you love him🥰
After two visits to the UK , from Boston Massachusetts, the best memories are the pageantry connected to the monarchy. These soldiers are a credit to England, I just wish the tourists, both foreign and domestic, showed the respect due to these professionals.
Love these "visitor" videos so much. You can see how proud their families are of them... This one really got me as I lost my dad 5/27/2020 and it just being Father's Day.... Trooper, your dad IS proud of you.
How beautiful was that! Even the mum asked permission first his dad would have been extremely proud of his son. The smile on both mum & son was just priceless ❤
I remember my Passing Out Parade in 2Para - my Mother standing beside me; I'm 5' 10" tall, my Mam only 5' "2", & tho' Mam has now gone, that picture sits proudly on a shelf - totally relateable to how this young Blues & Royal feels. Stay proud, Trooper !
Probably is a dumb question from this American...I have visited London and traveled to Paris twice and all over Italy as far as crossing the pond...but can anyone part of the UK or the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as any Commonwealth countries/nations like Australia, NZ, etc; and do they still take former Commonwealth countries South Africa before they became a republic, any other African countries like Kenya or Nigeria, or Cariibbean nations like Jamacia, Belize, Bahamas, Barbados, etc. Thank you! 🇺🇸💓🇬🇧
Hi......I'm from across the pond and wanted to say that I have been binge watching the Royal Guards all day! I am so very impressed with you guys and wanted to say that I have great respect for you guys! Keep up the good work!
@kevg3320 they both passed phase 1 basic all I know. Still phase 2 then they're training starts. One infantry at cattwrick other goes royal marine depot in Lympstone
Proud time for a parent when their children choose to follow their profession of joining the military. I hope they are both doing well in their current assignments!!
The Parents of our Service men and women are absolute gems! I remember coming home from the first Gulf Conflict and listened to how they had to watch and hear every step and detail of that campaign. No matter how proud, that must of been torture mentally for family and loved ones. Something I did not fully comprehend until I became a father myself. Politicians rarely send their kids off to war,if they did, we probably would put more effort into peace negotiations. That is something that is rarely sought and demanded in this day and age? Why are the international community not pushing and insisting on peace talks? Something has gone terribly wrong with our society for us to be so at ease with conflict and never have we been so dangerously close to the situation in Ukraine to go Global. Glad my lad isn't following my footsteps that's for sure! Regards M
Funny how these videos are emotional even for the viewer who doesn’t know the guard, or family, but knowing this young man is making his dad proud, well that’s enough to reach for a tissue. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
I think these guards look magnificent. Such pomp and history. I love how he smiled at his mum. I would never want to have my picture taken next to one of them since everyone looks shabby in comparison but his mum has the right ❤
My condolences to your father your mother is incredibly cute your smile is incredibly valuable your service it incredibly valuable thank you for your service love greetings from Germany❤
Beautiful! He couldn't stop that smile from coming! I wish something like this would make the rest of the visitors realize that these Guards are people - real people doing a real job - and stop pestering them and bothering the horses.
His smile was like a brief chuckle expression as his mom turned away then the next lady stood next to him and it was gone. I almost missed it, having to see the clip a few times til I caught it. How awesome 😂😂😂 his family is so proud of him and he’s happy he can make them proud. 😂

How proud that Mum must be. These guards are magnificent. I get so angry with ignorant tourists treat the guards with such disrespect.
Yes! Thank you for that 👏🏻👏🏻. I’m sure that a lot of foreign tourists forget that these are real soldiers, not actors.
And you don’t think his mum was being disrespectful?
She was, by putting that sign on his shoes, she was.

But because it’s his mum, I guess it’s alright then. ( not🤦🏼
@@46Ashgrove Completely agree. Bang out of order.
What do you expect, humans are the worst parasites on the planet
I’d be making any disrespectful tourist spend an afternoon polishing the guards boots. They’d soon learn respect.
That message “Doing my Dad proud. RIP Dad” with the date! Gives me goosebumps. Such a proud Mum too ❤
God Bless the whole family
Thank you, when the camera FINALLY started to zoom in the note was already gone.
That hit harder than I was expecting. My pops 80th birthday would've been next month. Hug your loved ones, and tell them so. ❤
Well done lad your a credit to your Mum and Dad !
she says this, but I bet she already cheating with a different man anyways.

well jolly good on you !👍🏼
You're comment brought a tear to my eye as my mum passed last year, and I served as well.
A lovely story. I bet however, it was the second proudest moment of her life. The first one would be when she held you in her arms when you were born.
Awe, I love that! Thank you for sharing that lovely story with us and even more thanks for your service to the British people, from one of your American cousins (and an American wounded warrior wife)❤❤❤ what you all do/have done in service is amazing and will always have my respect.
His smile to his mom was adorable!
He’s emotional but he’s trying to hide it. I like this smile. His mom is proud
Fantastic
And justified
Momma is so proud of her boy. He has taken on a very difficult job and does so with honor. He will always remember the day his Momma visited him at work for the rest of his life. God bless and don't forget to tell God that you love him🥰
A proud mum aswell as a proud nation, Thank you to all who are serving and who have served.
Thats absolutely the most wonderful scene to witness. Mum and son ,and both so proud they could pop!!.❤❤🥰
RIP to the Guardsman’s father. It makes you proud to be British. God bless you, his mum.
Nothing ruffles the fearsome composure of the royal guard… except their mum.
His mum is super proud of her son. What absolute amazing moment❤❤
