To think that just 200 years ago, this would've been considered a remarkably fast firing gun
200 years ago they would've used rocket artillery or strapped multiple smaller cannons on the same mount for a similar effect if it was necessary, also breech loading muskets weren't unheard of, but mostly custom made guns for royals or the wealthy in general, some even used reloadable casings.

Not 200 years ago, for the Gatling you'd have to wait for the US Civil War, but things like the French 1871 Mitrailleuse or the American Chambers Gun are other good examples of early fast firing guns too, alongside the Gardner Guns and many others, further back you have Organ Guns and so on

For those who don’t know, this takes the shooter and firearm quality out of the equation. Never moves and never changes. Really shows the quality of ammo

I know you’re joking but this is actually why most things have lot testing. I worked at a testing lab and we would get rolls of tape all the time. If three out of say a lot of 100 rolls passes then they can certify that lot and use it for contracted work.

There are... write shit down at the bench, test with a set count of rounds. Make range clear record your findings down range, write comments up range, test another grain the same way.

@@damienfinnegan8272 Pretty sure it's just an incredibly thick barrel, you'd want that on a test firing assembly to ensure perfect reliability of the gun so all deviation in the result is due to imperfections in the ammo

The cheapest ammo I could find in 6.5 Creedmoor was Sellier & Belot . I shoot an off the rack Ruger RPR but it loves S&B the most with 10 rounds in 5/8 " at 100yds on a bench consistently . I decided not to spend any more money on a custom build because I couldnt do any better by spending $5000 and hand loads.

That's a ballistic barrel on a mount, its supposed to eliminate much of the recoil as the mount is "heavy as fu*k" and the breech is always single loaded for safety and added accuracy. They are designed to carry out tests with "hot" rounds as well - rounds with increased charge.
