Honestly never thought i’d get this. Muscle memory for me now. Hoooow anyone can come up with this let alone pick it apart/reverse engineer it is beyond me
@ you will!!!! I believe in you 🙏 it literally just takes sooo much time, but every second you spend practicing your little nerve endings will get stronger and better at talking to each other
You are on a roll! Your videos really provide a lot of insight into just how amazing Adrianne's guitar playing is, and like her, you make it look effortless! Well done and please keep them coming.
Hhhhmmmmm...this is pretty tricky. I’m not sure if I’m going to really get this down to play it well, but I’m so intrigued! It’s so great to have this video to watch closely how it’s done. Thank you!
thank you for watching and all the best! i’ve said it before but for this pattern, the way i learned it was to learn the thumb part separate from the fingers, then put them together like i did in this video. will be extremely tricky at first. once u have developed the muscle memory it will probably stay for life haha.
Thank you so much, this made it much easier to learn. Been learning all of these Arianne Lenker songs thanks to you, you're the best! Could you do "blue and red horses" it seems pretty simple but i cant figure it out
been trying to wrap my head around this finger picking for a while now and wow it's kept me busy ... i guess this polyrhythm is in the style of 3 against 2? 1st to 3rd string = 3, 6th to 4th string = 2, or am i lost? haha. thank you for putting out all these lenker guides :)
Hi again Rafael! Im having some trouble with the picking on 955 especially and was wondering of you could offer some insight. Are all of the notes played in sets of two (thumb playing with other fingers or is there some variation.) Thanks so much again for your incredible work!
Hi! Do you mean 0:55? Yes, the entire picking pattern is always a series of pinches (thumb and other finger). In sets of two, yes. Thanks for your support!
This feels like impossible! This picking is the biggest challenge I’ve got so far. I could learn any song from Big Thief or Adrianne that I wanted, with time ofc, but this picking is so different from other patterns she uses in her songs. I think whats difficult for me is that I have to combine these two separate parts of picking after playing them separately. Is there any way to practise it all at once??
The best advice I got is to think of them as a series of pinches with your thumb and other fingers since they all play together. Then try pinching other strings just like the pattern. This one is super tricky I know. Anyway I kinda figured this pattern actually came from some of old Fleetwood Mac stuff. Can’t remember where exactly but yeah pretty sure.
ahhh! thank you for this! is there any way you could put the picking pattern in tab? Thank you so much for all of these Adrianne Lenker tutorials. They are incredibly helpful and appreciated.

@@rafaelleafar you're also teaching a bunch of us so much with these videos, so thanks for sharing your journey!
Thanks so much for your support!! It means a lot :’)
For anyones information, if you want it to sound in tune with the studio version it should be tuned at 432Hz instead of the 440Hz standard.
Thanks pal, a big help. You really break it down well
Helping me express her genius ❤️
I like the middle part, it sounds profound and inspirational.
trying to figure this out has tied my brain in knots. Thanks for the upload!
Ah I get it. It will come to you naturally if you keep playing. Don’t think too much about the pattern, it’s just a guide. Thanks for watching! :)

Yup. I get what u mean. You got it. It’s super mind boggling to think of that while playing so I kinda just go by muscle memory.
Not Travis picking?

hiii that’s beautiful. how do i tune my guitar to that tuning? tyy
hi thanks, you would start from standard tuning, then tune "down" (never up) from there

What’s the guitar tuned to? Like the pitches
it's in the description
Broke my high e string somehow trying to tune down. Every time I try weird tuning, I break a string. I have no idea how to prevent this.
it happens to me too. breaking a string while tuning down. could be due to rust, sharp nut, old string, too many wraps on tuning post...
Normal tuning??
Broo please make an actual tutorial please😭😭😭😭

play the picking pattern while pressing each of the chord shapes and you get.
this will apply to 7 7 11 0 0 0 and 9 9 12 0 0 0 as well
1: ---0----------0----------0----------0----------0-------------

4: ---9------9------9------9------9------9------9------9-----
5: -------5--------------5--------------5--------------5---------
6: 5-------------5--------------5--------------5----------------
for the second chord x757000, play the 5th string instead of the 6th string like this
1: ---0----------0----------0----------0----------0-------------
2: -------0----------0----------0----------0----------0---------
3: -----------7----------7----------7----------7----------0-----
