    Appreciated your video. Well explained. Read some of the comments. Mostly appreciative. Regarding the negative comments there will always be those who have a " glass half empty" perspective. Video is great keep up the good work. You are appreciated.

      I really don't see how anyone could leave a negative comment on a free, clear, informative video such as this one. Just miserable souls people would do some like that.

    Should the brake wear indicator be placed at the top or bottom of the car inside caliper?

    Hey Jim, hoping you see this or perhaps someone with the knowledge. I'm a pretty decent wrench twister but I was wondering if you would recommend using lock tite on the 3 screws for the rotors, I know you didnt but I'm wondering for my personal car if its perhaps piece of mind...better safe than sorry right? Thank you so much for this well filmed, well edited, and very easy to follow video, you truly are a life saver my friend. Whatever god you believe in bless 👍💪

      I'm not Jimmy, but with the tire butted up against those Phillips screws, they won't move/budge. Plus lock tite could be an issue removing next time after the heat they are exposed to (just my thoughts as a DIY mechanic)

    Thank you so much for the video, i used to do breaks on my Ford Escape, now i got a 2012 Santa Fe, this looks even easier than the Escape. I have a question, if you are so kind to answer, i just bought the car, used, when i am speeding and push on the break, the driver side wheel wobble a little, i am a strong feeling that is caused by break pads and/or rotors needing to be replaced, what is your thoughts about that? Could that be a correct diagnosis?
    Thank you!

    • @MrSidCharming
      @MrSidCharming 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just a thought: Could be a warped rotor. Does it wobble when speeds of 60+ MPH and while applying brakes?? if yes to both... Possible warped rotor.

    If im just doing pads, would i be able to just slip the new ones on right after I took old ones off at 5:15 in video? Or will I need to take whole assembly off the put new pads on?

    I'm about to do the front brakes on my 2013 Santa Fe Sport...never done brakes before...what about the 'shim' on the inside pad?...don't you transfer it to the new pad?...you did not...why not?

    • @jimthecarguy
      @jimthecarguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. The new pads have the shims bonded to the pads.

    They make a special tool to compress the piston end of the caliber which is the proper way to do it. If you don’t wanna invest in a proper tour, use a C clamp. Prying on it with a screwdriver is doing a hack job, and lacks professionalism.

    • @kilgoretrout3847
      @kilgoretrout3847 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      proper way to do something does not mean buying another unneccessary tool. c clamp also works fine. nothing he did looked like a hack job. hes doing a brake job not launching someone into space.

      He also was replacing the rotor so he wasn't worried about the rotor.

      @@kilgoretrout3847 Well said buddy! Some people have to talk cause they have a mouth, not because have actually something to say. "Prying with a screw driver lacks professionalism" you lack some brain my friend

    • @MrSidCharming
      @MrSidCharming 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, but as [Sitube S] said: he was already replacing the rotor, so why not use it for leverage: BRILLIANT idea, use the unit against itself and gain a good test on the slider bolts at the same time.
