I used to LOVE the real coin machines. Walking around with my big cup of coins was SO cool !!
Ya these new slot machines suck . I love the old 25c slots .
My biggest win was on a triple diamond. I bet 75c and won like 8-9 °hundred!!!
Finally! It's been YEARS since 'Slots of Fun' has actually been FUN! I remember the dirty fingers and the clanging of the coins!
I miss those machines! Nothing sounded better than hearing your winnings hit the bottom tray!
You knew you won and so did everyone else around you :)
I prefer the little red light on top of the machine going off calling for a hand pay !!!!
@@lion5452 unfortunately I’ve never had a handpay yet but one day I will
@@Serendipity11118 it's only happend once . I was broke at the time to with only $130 to play with and won
within 30 minutes of arriving to vegas at the Monte caro paid for my whole weekend and went home with like $120 bucks and great memories.
@@lion5452 I think it’s a little of being in Mississippi playing slots and a little bad luck is all😂my day is coming though I’m still holding out hope!
Played out of a bucket. And dirty fingers! Such memories!
great memories for sure
Yep, fingers were black
Pro tip: When playing quarters, look out for pre-1964 silver coins!
good tip!
100%
Pro tip. Delete and stop telling them. That's a good idea for the rest later this is what time you collect what's left. 2791 was a good time till keep up with too
That's where I got most of my good coinage.
So glad you did this video. Love seeing the old coin machines. Brings back so many memories.
Glad you enjoyed it
Always played out the bucket. ! I remember having filthy fingers after an hour or so !! Good times!!😅
wash your hands and it looks like you were welding or something :)
I also remember saving cups from so many casinos! They were colorful, ordained with the casino names and memes! Lots of memories!
they were easy to snag and free keep sake :)
I’m taking my nephews to LV to celebrate them both being 21, and I will definitely take them here. I can truthfully tell them these are the cheapest slots with the highest return, and teach them how to manage $$ with the smallest gift.
I hope more locations keep offering cheaper options again. They’ll still make plenty of money, and more customers have less than ever.
We can only hope, good luck to you and your nephews!
Growing up in Las Vegas, my grandma had a quarter slot machine in her house. So much fun to see the coins flow on a big win!
Hopefully we see more!!
I'm nostalgic for the inconvenience and the complimentary dirty hand. I still love Blazing 7's & Sizzlin 7's machines.
It’s a pain and a reward at the same time
They have really cleaned that place up! We stayed at the small family owned place next door. The WestWard Ho. They had .99 hot dogs and margaitas. Coin machines are fun. Those magnificent 7 machines you have to max bet to get the 1000. If you do not, you won't get jack! Glad they still have those. Won several times on the dollar machines and a few on the quarters.Wish local casinos had cheaper options like Slots A Fun.Those buckets of quarters and dollars were heavy and look at your hands when you are done. Gross! I also remember my arm hurting from putting in all of those coins! Good times back then!Great video.
Takes me way back! Thanks for filming this Dave!
I played from the tray! I like sweeping my hand in the pile to select!
Run the fingers through the coins :)
Nothing better than hearing coins dropping in the tray.
i remember thinking it’s to loud and they should put a rubber pad down to lesson it , then when they were gone , i just missed the sound
Slots of Fun has really cleaned up! It used to be a little "iffy", like an afterthought. It looks very nice now.
It’s so different from it’s shady and dingy past.
I'm watching this video and smiling the whole time
So many memories of this place as a newly-minted gambler in the mid-90's! I was definitely a 'play from the bucket' player. Half of the fun also was lugging your full bucket of nickels or quarters to the casino cage, watching (and hearing!) them being poured into the hopper of the coin counter, and trying to guess how much you would ultimately end up with!! 😃😃💰💰
Long time ago it was just all coin machines. Would play out of my bucket, sometimes if doing well would need the extra large bucket or 2 of the others. You are so right how much it would slow your play down, and oh how dirty the hands would be. I would save all my quarters for a casino trip and save my can/ bottle returns for the casino
I had a crown royal bag for my quarters :)
Hey Dave, love it, I sure do miss those coin slots, first time playing at Rivera back in the 80's it was so much fun. Just last year got to play some coin slots in Central City, Co it really brought back so many memories, the best part is the sound of the coins dropping. 👍
I agree, the clank clank clank , it was annoying at the time but now it’s very missed
I can remember going into many homes and they would have buckets from all of the casinos they played at displayed somewhere. All Vegas and AC casinos back then. I had one that I would put all my quarters in to save for my next AC bus trip.
No branded buckets just plain white but i do remember the old branded ones
@@GambleSmart All part of the cut backs I suppose. Can't have people taking them home!
Fun video Dave. Brings back memories carrying buckets to the cage. Sometimes, I needed an attendant to help me carry them all, ☺ -- 😘🍀🍀🍀🌹
Memory lane. So cool. It was so much more fun walking around with a large bucket of winnings to cash in. Also, sometimes you would get a machine that was malfunctioning and would pay you when you didn't have have anything, lol. I once had a nickel machine that 5 coins was the max on. I was playing one coin, but the bar was moving to the 5 coin pay line and paying me for 5 lines instead of one., lol.
Coin cups, the sound of actual dropping coins, the blackened fingers from the dirty coins and the moist towelette at the change cashier to clean them off. Good memories. 👴
If you were lucky the lemon scented one :)
Slots of fun, Riviera, Circus Circus were always my favorites back in the day😢😢😢
Cant wait to play coin slots!!!
They are waiting of you, tell them. Gamble Smart sent you :)
I played at the Riviara their last day in business. That place had so much history and should have never been closed down, considering all the movie sets and star power it had over the decades it was running. The place should have been registered as a national landmark.
Oh wow....I remember $1 shrimp back in the day...and walking around carrying a bucket of nickels...lol 😂❤😂
Playing the coin slots is my perfect ASMR.
Mine too! brought back so many memories
@@GambleSmartSeeing you happy going around playing those machines literally made my day. Like when I play Sigma Derby at The D.
@@danielpacheco6120 made me happy as well, the coin op horse racing was also a blast!
I’d play dollar coins and if/when I won there were wooden dollar racks that I’d fill up and take to the cage and exchange for bills. Mostly at the Las Vegas Hilton….which was the old International Hotel where Elvis performed. At that time it was the largest hotel in the world.
Circus circus has racks but they were all in one area and i had the bucket but the racks are there as well
Thanks for the Nostalgia. I played lots of quarter Video Poker in the 90’s that only drop the quarters, no credits. I would challenge myself to fill the tray until the quarters went over the lip. Had success many times. I had several hand pays on quarters in Harrahs Reno. A Royal Flush on Draw Video Poker for about 1300 and a quarter progressive for 1500. 5 coin and 3 coin bets. Those were the days. 😊
Thanks for the story, hopefully you get to fill the tray again!
LOVE THAT SOUND! Miss it, and the buckets and even the grimy fingers afterwards! Glad they’re back in action!! 🎉🍀🎰
It’s like playing down memory lane :)
I am so glad you informed about SLots of Fun putting in all those coin machines. I can’t wait to go!! That was my favorite casino back in the 80’s going to Vegas. They always had all the good snack bar deals and the pre made $1.00 strawberry daiquiris were so good too. $1,00 bottles of Heineken. I miss that time of Vegas. Now it’s so commercialized and expensive. Circus Circus still has the cheap rooms if you want them. Thanks again for you post!!!
When I heard you say you had a video coming on GSGS I said all right he went in. I was waiting for this one. Man does that bring back memories. Quick one, about 60 years ago used to go to Reno with my parents but I was too young to go in but at Harrah's they had the whole front of the casino open to the street so I could just stand on the sidewalk and talk to them. They were nickel machines and if you got a hand pay it was $7.50 and boy would they get excited. Lol. Yes I'm really old.
That sounds like an awesome sight back in the day! thanks for sharing bill!
Nice review Dave. I used to go to Slots of Fun back in the 2000"s when I would stay at the Sahara. They had Black Jack tables right off the sidewalk. Looking forward to checking it out on my next trip to Las Vegas over the Christmas holiday.
there is a craps table , digital screen, deal throwing dice but i did not see black jack
I remember when the hot dogs, shrimp cocktail and Heineken's were .75 cents in the 80 's!! Had my longest dice roll of my life at the crap table that were by entrance!! Love Slots of Fun! Glad they brought it back, Old School Style!!
Going to Vegas in Jun .... Can't wait to check Slots of fun out!!!
Worth the trip!
Thank you for doing this episode.I have been curious, about that place, now I know.
hope you get to visit soon!
I have a two credit haywire that I bought from Marc.
This video sure brought back memories playing coin slots in Reno and Tahoe in the early 90s. Some people would wear a glove to avoid dirty fingers from the coins. Did you see any red $1.00 coin trays that would hold 5 stacks of 20 coins for $100 per tray? It was fun to stack the trays filled with coins next to a winning slot, then make your way to the cashier. Thank you, Dave, for playing and filming the coin slots. We will check that place out in July!
you are very welcome , glad i could take you on a stroll on memory lane.
Back in the 1980's, I remember the change booths used to have wet wipes for you to clean your hands after playing. Washing up your hands was a regular ritual after playing slots.
Love the old classic coin slots
OMG! I played that Haywire game by the window last week! Did well, but it jammed on me when I cashed out…TWICE! Adding to the aggravation the Signal Tower on top of that machine was not working. I had to use the signal tower on Triple Double Sevens machine to get help.
Regardless, I like what they have done with Slots A Fun! Quarter machines RULE!!!
so many to choose from !
That was a fun walk down memory lane! Hey from New Mexico.
Howdy from texas !!
Love me some Triple Stars! What a fun place. Can't wait to check it out. One can go crazy in there. I remember walking around the strip with 2 buckets of nickels in the day. Boy, were they heavy! Do they still have the coin trays you can put your coins in? Loved to fill the $1 ones up!
There are $1 and $5 trays but they are mostly around the old $1 generic slots
Ah, nostalgic times... I love the coin op slots! They're so good!
I loved that place back in the 90's! The bartenders were the best! They had the food area and the Shrimp cocktail was great. We would spend hours in there had such a great time and met such awesome people. We would play from the bucket!! $1 Wheel of Fortune always played.
Absolutely nothing like actually hearing the payout and watching the coins fall. I understand why so many went to those dang tickets, but they really dig take a lot of the fun out of slots when they did it.
Very true, they took so much enjoyment out for faster play and more features.
@@GambleSmart Exactly, they turned gambling into video games.... All casinos need to bring back ol school machines. ❤️
Brings back a lot of memories. I played them out of the bucket
Bucket players unite :)
Played out of the bucket. Can hardly wait to visit this place. Fun!
Thanks for sharing your experience. This place would be the only real reason why I would come to vegas to gamble. I miss the old coin slot’s, the coins clinging in the tray and the dirty fingers.
This video brought back memories of my folks going to Vegas and bringing back cups of coins. Each of us kids would get a silver dollar. So cool. Thanks for the memories!
That is awesome!
Wow !! I really loved this video!! Those coins brought back lots of fun memories. Learning lots of new stuff too about gambling thanks for the info!
I played coin op poker in Vegas near Freemont st and my fingers were absolutely black. Also I hit quad 2's so I got a massive payout that took forever. SUPER COOL!
I liked playing out of the bucket. I would leave the credits on the machine until I was either out of coins, or I was ready to move on. If possible I would slip the bucket under the coin exit slot so I wouldn't have to scoop them out of the tray.
the bucket was the way to go, so you could feel more mobile
Casinoratssociety: thanks so much for this video. You're the best. As a retired slot attendant differently bought back cool memories.
Luv it !
I played from the bucket.
Lots of coin slot memories.
I heard from JacobslifeinVegas these were coming back but I had to see it to believe it. The nostalgia is coming back!
I used to play from the bucket or in case of dollars from the rack.
I need to return to Vegas!! Just to play those slots
You know what’s not fun? Watching someone play 2-3 coins at a time. It really slows down the enjoyment of watching someone play slots.
I have some nitrile gloves.. good way to keep the “fingies” clean 😀
Back in the day before TITO, how many times did you leave a bucket of coins next to the machine? I would usually catch myself before i got more than a couple of steps. Once I left about a half bucket of dollars, probably $100. I felt REALLY bad because it was gone when I returned. I was a naive gambler, so i went to the cage to see if anyone turned it in. The cashier looked at me like I was crazy.😂😂
I held that thing like it was my child 🤣🤣 but that’s cause i am crazy like that
Coins are what makes the game fun. The day I walked into a casino and did not hear coins dropping I was super bummed.
Red White & Blue my favorite 🎉
Loved this video. It brings back so many good memories.
"Bring it!" Someone watches Jeopardy!
Awesome. Smiling watching the first 10 min!😁 i still hav Riviera, Frontier, Stardust & Westward Ho buckets in my game room!! Definitely hitting it up in May!👍
you gonna love it, plus lots of video poker at circus circus :)
I do miss the quarter slots actually putting them a quarter in the machine
I LOVE THAT THE COINS ARE BACK.......
and they are just as much fun as they ever were
Always played my coins from the bucket. So many fond memories but the downside is not knowing how much money you have left in the bucket.
Team bucket , plus i felt more mobile
The casino that's an hour from me has around 40 to 50 coin slots that are on their last leg.
that’s sad to see them in a poor state. which casino ?
@@GambleSmart Prairie's Edge Casino - Granite Falls Minnesota.
@@GambleSmart - It's one of SDGuy1234 favorite casinos, but I don't think he has any videos playing the coin slots.
Quarters we played out of the buckets. Dollars we played out of the red trays (that equaled $100 per tray). Once the wife racked up 13 of them trays while in Boomtown, NV.
Ah man this reminds me of visiting my grandma every summer. She wore gloves to keep her hands clean. 😂❤😢
that was a smart lady , gloves are a good idea
Thanks Dave! was great to see from the Great Lakes!
Glad you enjoyed it
Love it! Thanks for the memories!
happy to help and entertain !
Thanks Dave for a fun video! Enjoy your trip!
glad you enjoyed it!! make sure it subscribe not miss more :)
Years ago - I won lots of pennies in Circus- Circus…
and Reno …..
if you hit the payout button after a play with no coins in the machine you can change to credit mode! Then you can load in a bunch of coins to play games without having to inserts coins everytime!
We used to play at "Slots of Fun" back in 1980. They had a 1# foot long hotdog for $1. It was huge. Had so much fun playing the 5¢ slots.
the current ones are still big but not the old 1/2 lb for 99 cents like they used to have
I’d pay top dollar if you could talk Vegas Matt into playing a coin slot for 4 hours
Omg. I love a haywire or mystery action machine.
Oh my gosh.. I remember getting my hands so dirty with the coins. Cashier window would have towelettes to wipe my hand with 😊
Can it be set to dispense when winning like the old days instead of gaining credits?
Looks like fun. D is the last place I remember having quarter slots. Going for the Derby will have to swing by and go back in time. No doubt it was much slower paced ie your money didnt disappear in a few minutes.
took at least 4x longer to put coins in vs just hitting the button
I’m glad they got rid of that bowling alley
I remember when we first went Vegas we hit all the casinos and we were keeping a dollar coin from each casino.
how fun i'm so jelly
they are waiting for you to come play :)
@@GambleSmart ok....lol
;)
One of the casinos I go to in Colorado in cripple Creek the casino is called Johnny Nolan's they have poker machines that are quarter coin and dollar poker machines that are coin in coin out!!!!
I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!
that’s some good info was just having someone ask me about CO coins the other day
Man I remember carrying around big cups full of coins
When you had to and they were heavy like you were carrying two toddlers , it was a good day :)
No wonder I used to last all day on $100 back in the 90’s…ty for the ASMR 💖💖
You’re welcome 😊
Buckets could be very heavy, that was a good sign
The only time that I have personally played a coin slot was not long after my 21st birthday at Circus Circus Reno. I think it was the last location in the region to have a few before they ended up taking them away.
Progress right? but at least they are bringing them back to enjoy again!
loved coins...miss them too!!
I am going JUST to play Red Hottie! I have been wanting to play that for so long but none of my local casinos have it. And of course I want to play with coins.
It’s harder and harder to find that’s for sure!
And when the tray fills up with coins, and they keep coming and ya gotta scoop buckets out.
It's nice to see a casino trying to make it fun again and not trying to figure out how to get every penny out of us. Slots A Fun best casino in Vegas?
I say YES!!!
Unfortunately people will still flock to the high volatility penny games because they think these games are boring. Apparently being able to spend your bankroll as fast as possible is more entertaining to a lot of people.
Most satisfying video with the coin drop sounds!
Nothing like it in modern games.
I got a hand pay once off 75c won like 8 hundred best day ever !!!
I sure miss the coin slots! I played out of the bucket.
Bucket players !!
If they built an old school style arcade then that would give us something else to spend all those quarters on.
They have those as well at the pinball museum and a few other places
Have to put coins in at right speed or would get jammed. Such good memories. Will go downtown for sure! Dave when silver strike coming back to 4 Queens??
Have not heard only that they are coming back.
@michele5327 wait they don’t have silver strike at 4 Queens anymore???
I don’t miss the coin machines at all. Carrying buckets of quarters were great at the time because you had winnings but overall it’s a pain. Yeah I’ll be avoiding those 100%.
How cool is this👍❤️!
Both...Out of bin, then bucket...
Not many who play both :) thanks for sharing!
The dollar coins..are they CC tokens or actual minted U.S. coins like the quarters were?
The $1 are minted or pressed not sure what the term is , they are metal and have both sides raised.
@@GambleSmart Thank you. Another souvenir.
