But even after the expensive conversion this will still be far less expensive than an MR556, SCAR, or even a CZ bren. Screaming deal for a high end euro rifle. And in my case I'm just leaving it stock due to being in a ban state anyway.
I just bought one here in the US. They are single stack sadly. However i cut the magwell and plasti welded it offset and used an HK g36 magwell adapter and g36 US made bolt head from tommy Built. I used an HDPS stick block with a g36 E stock and a standard g36 lower grip. Closest thing ill ever have to a G36 E

I have a secret love affair with the SL-8 and prefer it over the G36. I was too young then they were out a few years back, but now I'm ready for one. I have an airsoft SL-8 I would take to games for years. I've grown up, own a bunch of guns, and sold all my airsoft stuff except the SL-8. I am absolutely unapologetically ecstatic this is coming back and am going to start saving up for that H&K wallet hit.

Yeah, I'm glad HK is still importing their German stuff but having virtually no accessories/parts available for these weapons is very frustrating. The lower G36 style rail and bipod are almost requirements for this rifle. At times you can't even find magazines for their weapons (even online). I mean, they obviously made countless amounts of these parts for militaries and law enforcement, so why not just offer a few to the rest of us? Also wish they'd re-release the Umarex MP5 22 accessories like the A2 style stock and optics mount they used to have.
I'm very glad these are coming back in, but the magwell+bolt and thumbhole grip are honestly uncomfortable and difficult in an unnecessary way. if the bolt had all the lugs, the magwell was double stack, and the thumbhole stock was form fitting and more comfortable then it'd be perfect even in a featureless way as a precision rifle.
I think they recognize and assume the stock is a throw away piece, at least for the American market as most people who buy them convert them. Like the USC. I personally think it looks awesome in this configuration. Almost a throwback to the psg1

HK doesn’t care about it’s U.S. customer base. They’ve been pretty clear on that for decades. Tommy Built will just keep getting bigger; while HK will need another German government bailout in the future.
I'm with you on that, even inrange did a test between an sl8 conversion g36 and a tommy built t36 and the groupings were better with his then the actual hk ones. I'll stick to my tg36 and to the smaller gun manufacturers that actually care about his clientele.

People may like the hk markings and purity of having an sl8 converted to a g36 and spending the cash, but I'll take quality of branding any day.
That stock was made to comply with a federal law that is no longer in effect, and is illegal in the states that adapted that law too. Of all the guns HK makes, no one asked for this one to come back.
It is still illegal to import with a conventional pistol grip, folding stock. Also the issue of the mag well is a 1997 extension Of the 1989 ban to include the ability to accept “high capacity” magazines

US import laws state "Cannot readily accept high capacity magazines" unfortunately... Ironically the Canadian version is double stack but ships with 5 round mags. The biggest issue for me is that the single stack mags are much harder to load.

If I recall, after lots of testing, it didn't work very well in pistol form, and the MP7 was fairly limited in use anyway so they dropped the idea.

The MP5 22lr was license by Hk to Walther to manufacture them. It would be cool to get an MP7 in 22lr.
There's no point in them releasing the 91 again, they don't have patent rights to it any more and PTR and others are still making rifles domestically.
Right now, since the new gun law, Canada is thrust about this rifle. :)
