Who the hell dislikes this video!? You may not like the finished product but you have to admire the skill and artistry that goes into it. I think it’s superb and off to buy some colour!
I love it when the professional guys like yourself are willing to share the fact that you don’t always get it right first time...it gives us novices a real sense of reality rather than always feeling inadequate and stupid. My professional tutor is exactly the same and puts up with my inabilities! I am sure I can hear him scream in the garden when I am at his place.
Hey Kevin. Thanks for the comment. No-one's perfect, and if I can help people through my mistakes and help prevent them making the same ones, then the job's a good'un.
You certainly came back with a bang mate, that is absolutely stunning. Thank you for taking us through the process you use, and showing the techniques you employ. Excellent video. Take care Mike
Must admit I've never been a big fan of it, but this (and the others you have done) is superb. You may have even persuaded me to have a go. All the best Ian.
Hi Martin, I have never thought about burning just the inside of rim of the platter before. I really like the effect. I also like how you burn the outside and brought it in to meet the interior burning. I struggle with selecting and applying colors. You have inspired me. Thanks, Tina in St Augustine Florida
Martin, that turned out great. I enjoyed watching the process that you took to get the colors just right. Your work paid off, that's a beautiful piece. And yes, you succeeded in making it both interesting and inspirational. @17:21 "Oh, yeah!" Gotta love that feeling.
that looks incredible!!! the more i watch your videos the more i want to give turning a go and have just decided that in the new year i will purchase a lathe :) Thanks Martin :)
Love it Martin!! Especially that you showed the whole trial and tribulations of coloring this stunning bowl, I'll sure try this on my own, now I've got a little scorching and even a little less coloring, under my belt. I'm going to make a series of Cypress bowls and plates to try this on, it's a light colored wood which takes well to scorching and to coloring, I might even mix some alcohol dye instead of water dye... might go crazy!! :) Thanks for sharing Martin!
I love your creative way of thinking about woodturning! I hope that someday I will create something as beautiful as your crafts and I will be able to earn for a living by woodturning. Have a nice day Martin and continue making so great videos!:)
M. Saban Smith Woodturning absolutely always enjoy your videos greatly as you teach me so much with the art side omethings as that fascinate me and excited me
Hello Martin, Your projects are never boring and always interesting, That's another beautiful bowl. I wish I had your artistic flair. Hope the Christmas season goes well for you. Best wishes, Alan,
Martin, thank you so much for the great details, you're definitely a Bob Ross of wood turning! Every time you're about to add something I think... oh man, he's gonna mess it up! Then BOOM- It turns out even better! I'm new to adding color to my wood turnings, but can't wait to try it out :)
I have received "Big Magic - Creative living beyond fear" book for Christmas and your video fits right in! In order to to explore creativity, we need to manage fear (of messing up the work) and you do that pretty well. So this interesting video goes hand-in-hand with the topic of the book. Thanks for the video and the result is stunning.
It’s nice to see I’m not the only one who takes several tries to get the desired look just right. I would be shocked if my finishing ever came out just right on the first try.
Hi Joe. It's never a bad thing to go over something again if you're not happy with it. I play with stuff regularly until I'm happy with it. All the best, Martin
Great piece Martin.👍 Whenever I use blue dyes my kids think I've been squashing Smurfs! 😂 Good use of gloves... might steal that idea.😉 Have a good one!
Just wandered over to your channel from Mike Waldt's and am so glad I did. Am new to turning so I am seeking to learn all I can from all that is offered on YT. You offer a treasure trove of info. Thanks so much and I'm, obviously, on board as a subscriber.

Thank you for your question Larry from the USA. I have added it to my Q&A notes.Martin
It seems something has gone wrong with this video - there's no sound at all. I made sure it's not a problem on my end.
All of my woodworks I made with wood prix. Google and try it.
