Simon Hoggart and Miles Jupp were just perfection. Radio 4 sacking all its newreaders ripped the heart out of the News Quiz. What the hell they were thinking putting Angela Barnes in the hot seat, god alone knows, and as to the Andy Zaltzman interpreptation of the News Quiz; well, I've yet to figure that one out. I listen to classic eps every night, and just enjoy the genius of Alan Coren, Richard Ingram, Perkins, Green, Cass & Sleet, Linda Smith and Jezza, head and shoulders amongst other also rans ❤
The news quiz is no longer funny, the humour being very forced and contrived to the point where I have stopped listening to it. Replace Andy Salzman who thinks he is funny but sorry to say he is not. Bring back Miles Jupp for the next series and the classic news cuttings. Shame on you BBC for destroying an English institution!
This was a delightful giggle. But Coren was frequently guilty of making up his own 'finds' from newspapers. I can't recall if he was in this collection, but if anyone does hear him read a found item, and loves it, be aware, it might not have existed.
if only some one could upload 'The News Quiz: The First 25 Years' with the show featuring Linda SMith and Jeremy hardy. it show how limp and flacid the show has become.

Back when the News Quiz was good. Stopping doing the cuttings was one of the worst decisions the programme ever made.
