As I mentioned in the video, this was really just to test how well the new POV camera mount works but, if this is something you would be interested in seeing the rest of, let me know. --------------------------------------------

Yes please just keep dropping videos! Wetting out your laps is perfection , I normally struggle there!
I struggled with the waterfall for a long time too. I think my downfall was that I was trying to mimmick those perfect waterfalls you see on instagram. In reality, they mix huge amounts of resin because their production volume allows them to do so. For someone like me, I want to mix the perfect amount which makes things a little cheaper resin wise but also more strategic in where you place that resin
@@smallkinedings Nice vid! I finally got more time to go thru your vids and LIKE THEM A LOT! Thanks man! Btw., as I build boards with epoxy only, I learnt to not waste much resin and use as exact amount as possible. What really helped me was finding the technique of wetting the laps by Jack Reeves: th-cam.com/video/r-Ue5UmUAVA/w-d-xo.html which I use for single tinted/pigmented lam jobs or clear lam jobs or the laps wetting technique which works great with epoxy from this vid: th-cam.com/video/8z5yS5N2s7I/w-d-xo.html You probably know that.. but maybe someone other who will go thru the comments can find it helpfull.. so what I wanted to say screw the perfect waterfalling and wasting loads of resin as they are much better techniques :)) Cheers, Milos from Apatyka Surfboards
Self taught or not, very nice job. Keep 'em coming.
Appreciate it!
Definitely keen for the other vids of this build mate, camera angle is sweet.
Raja raja, will keep posting them!
Please keep every thing you do and uploading. Helping me out plenty. Also self taught and these videos teach me loads of extra tips
Chihooo
I definitely learn best with visual examples rather than text or just being told so hoping footage like this is useful for people who learn how I prefer to 🤙
always interested to see more from you🤙🏼 your technique and attention to detail is a step above most others watched on the tube.
Appreciate that, I certainly try to pay as much attention to each step as I can!
Yeewww always good to see a new video!
Chur 🤙
Love it! Let’s see the rest! Definitely I nice shot for doing this kind of work
Pretty stoked on the mount, haven't seen that perspective used before in surfboard stuff. Will use it again and will definitely keep uploading the next stages 🤙
Yes, good video. The POV for this was a great idea. I could see it being a pain for you in some things but in this case showing a slightly closer view of some of those tricky glassing areas was a real bonus. Cheers
Still gotta play with the mount a bit, this step was definitely the smoothest of them all. Filming under the board proved very difficult in the upcoming stages 😂
So clean as always!
Appreciate it, very much been enjoying your instagram stuff. Youre getting very good results!
I think the POV is great we see what you see. Its good for a newbe to see step by step, how the resin flows. It must be difficult to work with the heat with mixing bachers and timing? Great work and lovely to watch.
An interesting angle for me to watch it from as well! The heat has been an issue the last few months, doing most large resin pours from about 10pm til 12pm this time of year to make things a bit easier
Very good, please post the rest
Raja raja, can do!
Please upload more thanks!
Will do!
Looks good
Many thanks!
Here in central Florida it gets very hot. It will be over 110F with 90% humid. I go into my shop around 8pm leave around 11 pm. come back at 5 am work till heat kicks me out. Usually around 8 - 9 am. I get a lot more done and much better quality work. Brain works better when its not slow cooking.
100%, weather sounds very similar to here. I've definitely been doing the late night shifts with a lot of glassing. Much nicer and less interruptions without customers trying to bring boards the second I put my catalyst in 😂
Another very nice job! Remember that the first person doing anything is "self taught" too!
Very true! Would love to do some sessions in a factory one day either some full time glassers though. Seems like a fast track to up skilling
more pls! v helpful for a newbie like me
Raja raja, I got you!
You can tell how hot it is in your shop from how loose that resin looks! Did you use less catalyst so you had more working time?
Was cooking, foolish to do it at that time of the day. Yea, I went with more like 0.8% catalyst on both batches of resin
@smallkinedings I was meaning to ask, do you not get issues with laminating fresh resin from batch 2 with half kicked resin from batch 1?
I don't have issues with the heat (Dunedin never does!) But thinking it might still be a good way to buy myself more glassing time and use less resin
Those little "notches" are tricky.
Was that 16oz cloth, or lighter ?
They are a pain in my ass, haha. The last 3 boards I've done have had them and the next one does too.
6oz layer in this video and a 4 oz patch over each fin box
Another great vid useful thanks. Altho I feel a bit motion sick. Qq4u and cheeky one what are the bottom contours in that board? I wanted to make a twin pin with a little wing and I’ve been going round and round in circles about bottom contours. Thanks
@@awai5600haha, I did wonder if some people would get motion sickness from that perspective.
From memory Justin just put a single concave leading to a flat tail into this one. Nothing overly complicated or special 🤙
How big is that board? 1 liter of resin sure seems like a lot?
6'8 this one at about 22" x 2 1/2" from memory
pov def a smooth natural view
u also use an orbital & camera same time & don’t cut boards in 2
Okay honest opinion. 10/10 pov on the shots. 2/10 on the darth Vader breathing 😂
😂 I did wonder about that. I considered music but then I thought the respirator breathing seemed somewhat immersive
