The real wildcard pull would be to play Washi at 3. He plays at 3 in Ranji and has played at 3 for a long time for TN... He also was one of the better peformers of the previous Aus tour and a guy currently high on confidence... Tall guy, can handle bounce...

1) Sundar has got a batting average of 60 in Test cricket. He bats at no.3 for Tamil Nadu in Ranji trophy. He made his debut in Brisbane and got a 60 on debut as well. He should be given a chance to bat up the order.
2) Harshit Rana might be a surprise for the Aussies because he has got pace and will enjoy bowling on this Perth wicket. He can also bat and has got a first class hundred as well.
3) Prasidh Krishna with his height could be the x-factor on a bouncy pitch in Perth.
I am disappointed with Rohit Sharma not making himself available for the Perth Test.
We take prasidh on the same basis bouncy pitches in SA and their his economy was above 6 and then he was dropped from next match.
He hasn't done much since then even to get selected.

Sundar has made all those runs batting at 7 or 8 when batting is easy plus a lot of not out scores......His FC batting was not always good, had 1 or 2 good years, he did not even play FC for a long time, compared to that Easwaran averages 50 plus almost every FC season for a good decade (if FC is the selection criteria)......also in that case he is playing as a batting allrounder and 6th bowler, which is not ideal for the team structure.....if he has to play, he has to play ahead of Jadeja, that happens only if team India decides to have a tall spinner to extract bounce out of the wicket, or if they think batting skill is more important (even then Jadeja might be better option)....

None of the juniors have been better than their seniors except Yuvraj Singh a wonderful talent compared to Yograj who was extremely avg. It depends, but I don't see them, the hunger and talent and the ability to work hard is not Genetically gifted in sports. Its good for hype but lacks substance.

Quite surprised Nitish Kumar Reddy got selected in the first given his domestic FC record. The kid barely has played enough. Debuting in Australia is going to be quite rough for him. That’s like throwing him in the deep end. They should have allowed him to get accustom to international cricket though T20Is and ODIs. This would have been a good time to convince and re-introduce Hardik Pandya to the format and rest him from T20Is. Hardik Pandya is India’s best seam bowling all-rounder and Test cricket should take priority over T20Is.

Its ridiculous how the media portrays this as an end of the world series if Rohit misses the first test and Gill is injured. WTC final may or may not be possible, but trying to set the narrative like this series will be the last for some players and the coaching staff

On the eve of an important Test series against Australia, it shows the incompetence of the Team & Management, that they are still talking about the playing eleven. So many names are being bandied around. This does not auger well for Team India. Hopefully the Aussies are also as confused as us!!

yes. he is 60 bowler - 40 batter
India would be unwise to undermine the role of a spinner at Perth. Remember Nathan lyon's record is exceptional here due to extra bounce and overspin he imparts. I am not convinced Jadeja will have any impact with bowl, except some handy runs in lower middle order. Ashwin or Sundar better bets than him. However its the runs i am more worried about than 20 wickets.
