    Sometimes a guy just has to get into the woods,to lose the mind and free the soul.

      Amen to that. Sometimes I get home, and within a day I just want to turn around and go right back in the woods. I just quit my job this week, and I plan to make the most of what summer we have remaining.

      @@Martyupnorth congratulations on leaving the corporate working world. Life is to be enjoyed,not survived. Far happier working for myself.

    Pretty cool to see you out on this trail, I was on it myself beginning of July. Missed you by a couple weeks if you were there in June. I see you are still using the Lite AF pack, I have enjoyed mine. Look forward to the video on the rest of the trip.

      You should! It's a great early season area. I go there in the winter a lot. Easy terrain, lots of firewood.

    Thanks for sharing. Which pack does Tikka use? We have a 50 lb lab and use a canine equipment pack. We only make the pack about 7 lbs total. It's not the most stable and likes to get flipped over. What's your experience with dog packs? Thanks 👍

      This one is a Jann Sport, but I can't find them online anymore. It was expensive, but worth it. Go to ruffwear.com/?avad=261861_f2a14d101&leadsource=1162043 they have amazing dog gear.

    Didn’t notice the bear lockers until the next morning…

    Marty thanks for allowing us to come with you on this hike, just a side not, how much does your one person tent weight, as all my tents are tipi tents, as i like to stand up in my tent, Sheldon

    • @Martyupnorth
      @Martyupnorth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Marmot Tungsten UL 1P is just over 2 lbs. I love that tent. I also have a teepee. It's a OneTigris that only weighs 1 lb (if I leave the pole at home). I can put it up by cutting a small tree or running a rope bwteen two trees. I can't stand in it, it's only 5'2" at the centre.

      @@Martyupnorth Check out liteoutdoors in Lethbridge, they do sell a carbon fibre pole, that should knock half the weight of the aluminum pole

    I'm planning a trip mid-august in that area up to white goat wilderness for 7 nights, sunset pass>pinto lake>up the cataract trail>valley of the lakes>mcdonald creek> and back out sunset pass. I was thinking of making that loop you planned from rock lake into NBT up to Wilmore, but ill wait for your video as guidance!

    • @Martyupnorth

      Trailhead is at the Cline River parking lot on highway 11, about 40 km west of Nordegg. The hike in is only 6-7 km.,

      She's getting old. She turned 9 this summer, which if you stop to think about it is old age for a dog. I try not to push her too hard.

    Hi Marthy, got a question for you if you don’t mind. Will be doing a Breazau loop next week but heard about the bridge from Breazau lake campground to Jonas cutoff being washed out. I was thinking of hiking back to the bridge by Breazau river and bushwalking the other side and trying to connect with the trail. What’s your opinion if you could share please. It looks like only 3-4 km but it might be challenging. Thank you for your input.

    • @Martyupnorth
      @Martyupnorth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's going to be more than a challenge. There's a creek that you'll have to ford, that won't be easy. You also won't be able to follow the river because it's a canyon in that area, with steep walls. Quite simply, there's a reason why the trail crosses the north fork of the Brazeau twice. Trails usually follow paths established by animals. If there's no trail, there's a reason why? You best bet is to try and ford the river where the bridge is installed. If you can't do it, just back track. That's my opinion.
