Awakening the Nightmare's campaign is set a few months after the conclusion of the main game's campaign. It centers on the Banished as they engage in a conflict with Flood survivors from the first Battle of Installation 00. The campaign is bookended by prerendered cinematics produced by Blur Studio.

unless they want to lose another carrier (the ship at the Ark isnt a super carrier, was just a normal Assault Carrier Syfon like the one Regret used) they can provoke the Sentinels again...iirc Escharum has a super carrier though i dont remember, they mentioned him owning one in Shadows of Reach.

These are tiny outbreaks.
Mitigated would be a better term. Almost everywhere they've been encountered in the games was a destructible object, with humanity losing half a continent when they landed on Earth.
The forerunners dealt with a Keymind and star roads, the flood was so advanced they captured forerunner ai and used it against the forerunners, and then used star roads to destroy the greater ark

Furthermore, in all outbreaks, the defendants were always on the losing end and only succeeded in repelling the parasite particularly because of the presence of Scorch Earth devices...

I like how some Brutes are just chillin' outside at 13:14 . Shows that though they are different in appearance and behavior, they're just like us.
Gotta thank the Banished for killing off another possible gravemind, otherwise we would've needed to fight the flood yet again in Infinite

Me neither. I bought this game when it first came out and redownloaded it a few days ago and found there was an expansion released. Too bad it didn't come with the season pass that I have.

The fact they colored the flood red like the banished is extremely annoying. Especially since there is no reason the flood would be colored that color.

I really hope the flood are in infinte.... The cinematic with the flood are sooo good in modern day graphics and even the new flood type which binds people to let the smaller forms infect them is a great addition
Would be cool, but highly unlikely. Most likely if we see the flood again it will be on a non-Chief themed game like this or something like ODST or Reach. It wouldn’t make sense story wise, assuming the story continues with its heavy forerunner/AI themed conflict.
@@connermorris7294 Don't see how it wouldn't make sense storywise seeming halo infinite is on a ring and every ring so far has had flood samples stored on them... Halo 1 and 2 only had flood because we got to a ring
slayerr4365 yes but hopefully 343 learned from their mistakes already about having too much going on at once. Halo 5 was a huge jumble of a mess, one reason being the over saturation of characters and no introduction to them. This is suppose to be a trilogy, 4/5/infinite, and introducing the flood now and finishing it off in one game would feel very rushed when we already have cortana, the warden, blue team, Osiris, Halsey, the other AI, the Arbiter, Alaska, and Palmer to deal with. It’s not a good idea to pile the plate too high.
@@connermorris7294 idk for me halo 5 was a complete failure for many reasons but "too much story" was defiantly not one of them. Was no where enough story really. And the time difference they had for making halo 5 compared to infinite is like 3 more years at this point. Think they could of managed to make a longer campaign to fit in more things like the flood by now. Plus pretty sure we are playing chief only so there won't be any back and forth to break the story.
Really if you look at halo 5 it was just trying to copy alot of halo 2 but failed. The arbiter missions were amazing because we were playing an elite for the first time and a badass character. With halo 5 we are just playing another spartan and one 99% of us didn't care about at all. Still if for nothing else I just want to see some flood cinematic in the new engine. Awakening the nightmare ones looked amazing
slayerr4365 I didn’t say too much story, I said too many characters. Halo thrives on piecemeal expansion of lore in-game. We had almost about 10 characters no one knew about unless they bought and read the expanded lore stuff. Halo isn’t an rpg, it’s a shooter. A few characters, a couple main enemies, and you’re solid. It’s been that way with every halo game, or should have been, and they have to work with the mess from 5 to try and iron that out too. Don’t get your hopes up for flood, especially a well written flood enemy

And now Atriox had to abandon his enemies (Human) because two Jiralhanae brothers was a responsible of wasted to whole Banished troops from Atriox hand.. *Best Halo War 2 DLC* i ever watch it on TH-cam. The flood are endless and cant ever be killed not even in a million years so i think thats still makes the flood creepy
@@holysunnydspirit5671 yeah.. But like in terms of the games their presentation is kinda lacking from when the first came up. To me anyway, the flood just aren't what they used to be. Especially in the sense of this particular DLC. Like it's cool they're back and all but like, i find it hard to believe some brutes would manage to actually stop the outbreak. How are they all just okay as if the flood isn't also an airborne virus as well, like if the brutes come back in infinite they should be carriers of the flood virus that they pretty much brought with them to Zeta Halo. Thus making a huge outbreak there at some point in the story. Sorry i just see tons of potential for Halo and it's story including the flood and various other bits of the lore. Kinda got carried away here..

@@holysunnydspirit5671 like from this DLC the flood come off as a minor inconvenience, when they are a real threat to the universe. If they come back then i hope they have newer forms, a creepy setting for the first reveal, and just pure terror from both sides of the fight, Banished and Marines. Lol like make the Flood terrifying again.

Not necessarily, the galaxy or at least those who know of the flood, are aware of what it is capable of, not only that but this outbreak is contained and without a gravemind.

@@devinsymborski5764 that was the tentacles from a proto-gravemind which is killed/destroyed on the end of the game but the Gravemind is still hiding inside the high charity if you read the audio logs

The gravemind died when Chief activated the half built Halo. Only a "small" amount of flood where left. Not enough to rebuild the gravemind. I bet the next Halo saga will be based on the flood. An we will finally get a keymind. A keymind is a million times stronger than a gravemind. An could probably produce ultra powerful pure flood forms.

@@w1ndgeneral226 a keymind is like a fully evolved gravemibd consisting of a planets worth of biomass. Keyminds are so smart that they can compete with contender class ai which were ai used by the forerunners to fight the flood( most notable contender class being mendicant bias )

@AutisticJosh also the proto gravemind was never needed it’s there to fight the banished on the outside while the main gravemind is slowly infecting under the ark making it as a disguise but atriox was able to destroy the infestation below the ark but not the gravemind

Spores are only present when the Flood have enough time to completely terraform the environment with their biomass. The sludge is just dead meat, not gonna do much.
