Jon Snow I highly doubt that is the case. It's 100% choreographed! Do as they please would have been mayhem.
sanauthorised Except for the hook step the song was not choreographed as a whole. Each set of characters decided their steps a few minutes prior and then were completely spontaneous.
Himalayan Glory again, I refuse to believe this. With so many dancers on set and taking it in one shot, there must be direction otherwise they wouldn't know when to do their part and what to do. One mistake would ruin the whole thing. This kinda stuff requires exceptional planning and execution.

sanauthorised It was planned in advance obviously but it certainly wasn't 100% choreographed. Zoya Akhtar had stated that the song was shot in 5 minutes and a lot of planning in advance as to who will do what step and at what point was undertaken with the help of Bosco-Caeser, the choreographer duo. But save for a few steps most of the dance was spontaneous.

This was hands down one of my favourite choreographed songs, it felt so natural and not forced like a lot of songs in Bollywood can.
A rare one take song in Indian cinema. Another one is Chale Jaise Hawaye from SRK starrer Main Hoon Na which came out a decade ago.

This movie is sooo underrated. Amazing performances by the cast and also has an underlying message. Light hearted yet meaningful movie. I wish they would stop comparing it to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Because they are two very different movies. Just the director and producers are same.

People in south India (i've only ever been to theaters in south india, so I can't speak for all of India) go crazy for hype songs and bring confetti and get out of their seats and dance along. Loadssss of whistles and yelling and craziness for either the entry of the hero or a hype song! Going to a movie of a BIG hero (Rajinikanth, SRK, Salman, Allu Arjun) in india is an experience! I love how everyone gets so excited and happy! Definitely go to a movie next time your in India!! All of this doesn't really happen at theaters in the states.

Awesome video guys. I always love your reaction to Indian music videos Jaby. Just for your information : Anil Kapoor (the guy with the grey moustache and hair) acted in Mission Impossible. He's also produced and acted in the Indian version of '24'. Rahul Bose was (as you correctly pointed out) in the song. He was the husband of Priyanka Chopra in the movie. Farhaan Akhtar (the guy who acted in Bhaag Milka bhaag) plays a cameo in the movie and is in the song.
I'm always impressed by Achara and your knowledge of Indian movies and stars. Awesome guys. Kudos to you all !

As a person who has grown up on Hindi movies (squirming and shouting obscenities at the representation of women in Indian movies), I was intrigued to see what does an international younger audience feel about Hindi songs. I was logged on for a long... long.... Long time.

It use to be normal for people to whistle and start dancing in the theatre when a song would start playing on the screen. They also use to have lights around the screen which would turn on when the song would start. Now it doesn't happen anymore. I guess now we are sophisticated bunch of people.
