My general strategy is to use Power-up Hit on setup pokemon so I can increase Kangaskan's attack by 2 stages (Parent Bond makes this move multi-strike, so you get 2 boosts) and then sweep using my other moves. Drain Punch is really good for recovering your HP after you setup. Rock slide is good coverage and has chances (x2?) for flinching. Sucker Punch is good for taking out pokemon that are faster than you. So my strategy against Blaine was to use Power-up Hit twice on the Torkoal and tank an explosion and then sweep the rest of the faster pokemon with Parental Bond boosted Sucker Punch. This is game is impossible to beat without EV training and held item strats, hope you play it some day
I'm surprised you made it that far.. I mean, I was stuck at the battle against whitney (which is completely optional btw) before battling Lt. Surge, I attempted that fight several times (lost count😅) and it drove me crazy! And you know what I did after that? I gave up!
Yeah, I have been struggling wuth this game for a long time. Still haven't beaten it. I guess I'm just used to playing Pokemon games with the intention of making it hard myself that I don't know how to deal with a game being hard from the get-go
I'm not much into competetive Pokémon either, but I appreciated having the additional challenge in a regular Pokémon game and played this. Did a monotype team as well, because I'm stupid (mono ice, btw). I think EV training is basically obligatory if you want to beat it. I actually managed to get through Blaine even with my mono ice team. I quit in the elite four though. (Slush Rush Bolt Beak Arctozolt carried me through sooo many fights. I love that adorable mistake of creation)
Damn we got some normie memes in this video, but i stay for Zwiggo and his mad lad attitude towards one of the hardest rom hacks, you have more balls than me
I was stuck in the Blaine fight for HOURS, i finally was able to beat him by changing the wheater (Rain Dance on a rock-type pokemon). Zard and Plhosion were the main problems, but they both need the sun
I’m still playing through radical Ted but Giovanni in silph co was my biggest challenge thus far. I used a soundproof kommo-o with max defense and a siteua berry to set up three dragon dances on his hippowdon and then swept his entire team with earthquake and dragon claw.

Not only i'm a little bit tired of the normal difficulty rom-hacks usually have, but the part of "this hack looks like competitive Pokemon" makes me want to try it out. Like, i'm not a competitive player, but having battles locked to Set, not being able to use items, and making Pokemon Abilities and non-damaging moves more useful (along with having to fight against actually well-thought teams) seem lots of fun to me
Zwiggo I love your commentary, to help you: -expanding force is boosted by psychic terrain -Cinderace has libero which is protean I just feel bad for u but u did great u did your best!
Thx very much for doing my request I tried this too its so hard and my pokemon its all gen 8 but I beat it Thx very much❤️ Your 1 of my favorite pokemon youtuber.
There's something strangely liberating seeing someone with minimal competitive experience get punted in a rom hack designed with competitive play in mind.
I've never really seen the point of super competitive 'difficult' Romhacks. It's not even that it's like... 'Git gud Dark Souls' difficult either since no amount of skill lets you beat a statistically superior enemy team without a huge amount of RNG involved. You've got to instead get the perfect pokemon, with perfect IVs, perfect EVs and a perfect nature or don't even bother playing this game. That just doesn't sound fun to me. Personally, I just want a game that's harder than standard Pokemon, but doesn't go crazy about it.
@@Syenthros keep in mind that most of his pokemon were normal or flying which makes the challenging game just impossible or stupidly hard. My point is putting a challenge on something already hard wasn't smart.
@@Nitosa Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. I was just talking in general rather than specifically about this challenge. Very bad idea in this game lol

Also, about not being like dark souls, it is EXACTLY like dark souls. No BS like u cant have EVs on ur mons like Kaizo, this game gives you all the tools to get competitive mons. It literally asks you to get good. It's called a "difficulty romhack" for a reason. @@foat765 Now this. This is an idea I can get behind. Drayano hacks and Prismatic Moon get close to that, but I'd like that level of complexity and challenge in a mainline game, not relegated to unofficial hacks of their games.
if you read this there is a super easy way to beat blaine with your team. indeedee, on switch in it sets up psychic terrain which makes it so any priority move fails if the defender (meaning you) is on the ground. Typo's ability makes it have priority on all of it's fire moves, and without them it's overall a dead weight on his team. also some other tips is giving one of your mons rain dance and a focus sash to shut down the sun for a while. you get the rain dance tm to the left of the poison gym, and the focus sash from beating chuck in the training gym next to the fighting gym. also if you look at the docs for this game which is in the radical red discord. you can find where the ev training items are, with them you can ev train a pokemon in like 10-15 mins. your team is also missing a mega, you get acsess to mega lopunny, mega pidgeot, and mega audino before the gym. I've done a mono normal run myself and it's been a blast for me personally.
Is it even possible to beat this game without ev training and without legendaries (Can someone tell me how to ev train)i downloaded it should i randomize it?
u can buy the suppliments like carbos or zinc etc. and also every pokemon gives ev's when u faint them so if you can find pokemon to faint with thr evs u want then u can ev train.
EVs are obtained from defeating Pokemon. You get different EVs from different Pokemon. For instance, Chansey will give HP EVs, while Scyther gives ATK EVs. They effect stat growth. It takes a long time.
I used Obstagoon until the end game with a flame orb, Guts Ability (double attack when burnt) and the following moveset : obstruct, for lowering ennemy defense and setting up my flame orb, then Sucker Punch and Facade can one shot any mon without low-medium defense. Finally I used Brick Break for slow rock type mons. With a Jolly nature, you can outsped a lot of other mons and sweep and a lot of teams, especially with a good speed IV (which I did not look for). Honestly, it's a super good mon and you can probably beat a lot of physical attackers using such set, by re-spamming obstruct on every mon (the AI is really good but not that good). Try that against Blaine, don't even bother with Dig, Facade should do the trick, and Sucker Punch if you are outsped. Beating the Elite Four with a monotype however seems hard, especially the rain/hail team and the champion is incredibly hard because of its legendaries mon. Using only nature, no EV and no IV special training, and no legendaries, I have beaten game without any major difficulties besides the champion-rival team (Dragapult-Obstagoon-Arctovish-Corviknight-Heat Rotom-Aegislash, good items like Choice Scarf and Flame orb). Though, I admit that the Erika-SilphCo-Sabrina part is quite hard and took me some time... and you need a good team for every boss battle.
You could've used Ditto with imposter. Just get to Cinderace and switch to Ditto and BOOM. You've got a Libero/Protean Pokemon at your side. That's how I beat Blaine.

definitely worth playing. Kaizo annoyed me because wild encounters were limited, but this game is super fun. I recommend getting yourself a slakoth because truant was buffed in radical red. Zwiggo probably would have faired better in this video if he used him.
Another Pokemon I recommend is Blissey... but that's only if you want this game to be easy mode. I literally swept Blaine with my Blissey using charge beam + serene grace strats.
@@MidoseitoAkage You still need to know how to use that knowledge. We're talking about the series where you can go online and body kids using hacked perfect legendaries with your ragtag team of trained favorites.
Emerald Kaizo is harder
Hey zwiggo when you are ready to take on this game again just know the stat scanner and nerd in the poke fan club in saffron are needed for EV training and there are specific locations in the game where you can EV train.
I gave up!
This is my favorite hackrom. Its hard but not impossible, and still so reawarding. Once you get a mega blaziken with protect you can swipe most teams
@@ginosogoretic2276 Blaziken has speed boost, after using protect once it gets a +1 speed in the next turn which makes it extremely dangerous.
Git Gud moment
Yeah, I have been struggling wuth this game for a long time. Still haven't beaten it. I guess I'm just used to playing Pokemon games with the intention of making it hard myself that I don't know how to deal with a game being hard from the get-go
Literally I Encounter a Shiny Starmie of Misty in his Gym in Radical Red
Try getting kangaskhan in the safari zone. Additionally, getting its mega stone, it could help maybe
I’m still playing through radical Ted but Giovanni in silph co was my biggest challenge thus far. I used a soundproof kommo-o with max defense and a siteua berry to set up three dragon dances on his hippowdon and then swept his entire team with earthquake and dragon claw.
It is believed that when you comment early, you get a heart from Zwiggo.
It did now
If I can beat the game with 6 Pikaclones, you can beat this game in any possible way.
Fax i was going to do it with an NU team
@@dijonramkaran2s156 i think is more fun than going with some super OU teams and sweep the AI
@@warcriminalyes ik i figured so to in my Original team the only OU mons i had were Greninja and Dragapult
I will use 1 or 2 mons from RU tho like rosarade and mega houndoom
Mega Houndoom is busted here. Dark Aura makes it so goood
Bruh. This would be the Best Rom hack ever if the Difficulty was Toned Down
no- its suppose to be hard. its suppose to make you think outside the box and come up with new strategies and teams. you cant just go "haha level 100 charizard go brrr"
@@DarkXehanort The thing is. Going from Renegade Platinum to this. RP is Hard, Very difficult. But it isnt tryhard. RR is just tiring to play because its just competitive pokemon battling
Literraly could fix this by Having an 'Easy' Mode where all thats different is having normal pokemon rules and Maybe toning IVs down
@@zambiekiller360 yeah but the *whole* point of this rom is to make it hard. If you take that away, you can just play another cookie cutter FRLG rom hack
@@DarkXehanort Not at All. Your really Underating the Features the Creator added
i agree it’s hard, but i don’t understand the emerald kaizo comparison. on EK i found myself going back to the pokemon center after EVERY trainer battle on a route. in RR it’s mainly just the boss battles that have kaizo tier difficulty
Damn, does this Rom-Hack seem fun to me. Not only i'm a little bit tired of the normal difficulty rom-hacks usually have, but the part of "this hack looks like competitive Pokemon" makes me want to try it out. Like, i'm not a competitive player, but having battles locked to Set, not being able to use items, and making Pokemon Abilities and non-damaging moves more useful (along with having to fight against actually well-thought teams) seem lots of fun to me
ZWIGGO I ADDED YOU TO MY POKEMON EMERALD RANDOMIZER NUZLOCKE AS MY SWAMPERT
Thank you for the heart Zwiggo keep up the good work man
Zwiggo I love your commentary, to help you:
-expanding force is boosted by psychic terrain
-Cinderace has libero which is protean
I just feel bad for u but u did great u did your best!
Yeah, Libero is Cinderace's hidden signature ability and is pretty much Protean under a different name.
On my play through Sabrina started with Indeedee and Porygon2 (with trick room) instead of Hatterene. She actually caused me a lot of problems.
Yeah p2 is a lot tougher to take out in one hit
I WAS JUST WANTING TO WATCH RADICAL RED PLAYTHROUGH AND HERE IT IS
"Mega toxtricity"
Me:isnt that gmax toxtricity
There is no Dynanax in this game so most Gigantamax forms were reused for Mega designs.
I like it way more that way.
Eh I was saw Dynmaxes as Mega evolution + Bigger scaling
the dynamax band is replaced with mega ring,
you get dynamax band only for raid den battle
@@Syenthros That is understandable. Many people dont enjoy competitve, and that is something I can totally respect and get behind. However, this game, with all the Quality of Life changes (which Zwiggo doesn't even mention) and how the game is actually fair, I'd say it's one of the best this year.
Also, about not being like dark souls, it is EXACTLY like dark souls. No BS like u cant have EVs on ur mons like Kaizo, this game gives you all the tools to get competitive mons. It literally asks you to get good. It's called a "difficulty romhack" for a reason.
I recommend you check out Mr. Ding Dong games' videos on Radical red.He covers most features in this game better than Zwiggo did.
th-cam.com/video/pCufyVoDtnM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MrDingDongGames is the video if you want a link
@@foat765 Now this.
This is an idea I can get behind. Drayano hacks and Prismatic Moon get close to that, but I'd like that level of complexity and challenge in a mainline game, not relegated to unofficial hacks of their games.
The rival in silph co absolutely destroyed me every time. Might try another run.
I recently started this game, and damn it's hard. I am going to the elite four currently.
Zwiggo : he start with pidgeot
Me: it's a swellow
Zwiggo needs so many more subs, his challenges are so unique
if you read this there is a super easy way to beat blaine with your team.
indeedee, on switch in it sets up psychic terrain which makes it so any priority move fails if the defender (meaning you) is on the ground.
YALL READY FOR MEGA TOXTRICITY
20:51 “He starts off with a Pidgeot.”
*sees Swellow* BRAH
I’m sorry. XD I had to point that; I laughed.
Is it even possible to beat this game without ev training and without legendaries
(Can someone tell me how to ev train)i downloaded it should i randomize it?
u can buy the suppliments like carbos or zinc etc.
and also every pokemon gives ev's when u faint them so if you can find pokemon to faint with thr evs u want then u can ev train.
EVs are obtained from defeating Pokemon. You get different EVs from different Pokemon. For instance, Chansey will give HP EVs, while Scyther gives ATK EVs. They effect stat growth. It takes a long time.
But should i randomize it
Research all the ev values on pokemon in a pesific route
If u like legendaries and a diggersby in route 1 randomize it and if u wanna be a normal person dont
Cinderace gets a hidden ability called libero that works similarly to protean.
zwiggo's way to celebrate halloween is being scared and traumatized from a pokémon rom hack, lol
You could've used Ditto with imposter. Just get to Cinderace and switch to Ditto and BOOM. You've got a Libero/Protean Pokemon at your side. That's how I beat Blaine.
Ditto is quite rare though

also, dual wingbeat is a move tutor move on the isle of armor and plasma fists is normally the signature move of zeraora that does damage and turns normal moves into electric ones. expanding force is also a tutor move that does 1.5x dmg and hits both foes in psychic terrain. 80bp. I noticed that many signature moves are no longer signature: plasma fists electivire, wicked blow drapion, etc. also you are correct zwiggo, cinderace does not get protean, it gets libero which is basically the same thing as a hidden ability. also, if you want a challenge, do a rejuvenation v13 monotype or an insurgence monotype/solorun.
