  • After a failure of getting the Impala running properly, I do a rust inspection of the floor pans, trunk, and body. I also begin the process of checking Vin codes and authenticating the Impala is a true numbers matching Super Sport. More will be revealed about reading vin and build codes in a later video.

I love the 63's . Did they get the floor shifter plate / hole cover screwed down before the cars got painted in the factory?

I am not sure about that, but my guess would be no. Unfortunately, this one was destroyed in the labor day fire and I am unable to verify.

Did you check the dash? 63SS Dash should have swirl pattern in the corners. Only on the 63SS. Just a tip.

Correct the whole dash piece is swirl finish. As well as the body side moldings and the rear trunk and taillight moldings.

Bad thing about all these '61 - '64 impalas showing up on here, it's driving the prices of builders up! I enjoy them though!

Love them too, but unfortunately, I lost this one in the Oregon Fires. It's on other videos.

In my younger days I'd get a dozen cans of primer go to town and drive the wheels off that thing. Restorations take too long probably because I'm not rich and I do all the work myself my 64 Chevelle took 15 years got back in the road 5 years ago and it's still not done.

My 63SS had a built in Tach on the steering column. This one doesn't.

Correct, tachs, air conditioning, power steering and brakes, cruise control, ect. were all options. The tach option was fairly common. The less common options would have been cruise control, air conditioning and power windows
