  • Hello everyone,
this is Part 4/4 of my 1:48 scale Sikorsky UH-34G build from Italeri. This helicopter was part of MFG 5 (Marinefliegergeschwader 5) stationed in Kiel-Holtenau and took part in several SAR-Missions during the 1973 flood on the german coast.
The same helicopter with the S/N 80+73 is part of the exhibition of the Deutsche Museum in Schleißheim near Munich.

Great to see the completed build, it looks awesome! 👍 Seemed like a challenging kit with a difficult paint job but you put a lot of effort and detail work into it and the result is amazing. I particularly like the weathered, faded look and the folded main rotor! You have given me the inspiration that I needed, my next build will be a helo as well! 😃

Thank you very much for your kind comment, Oliver. And I'm very happy that my work inspired you to build another helo. I'm excited which one it will be. I really enjoyed your build of "Helicopter 66" back then and inspired me kinda too to build a helo. 👍
The kit itself was actually kinda nice. But I had my usual problems and the folded rotor set was quite challenging. But nothing one cannot manage with a quiet hand and a little patience.

I apologize for not commenting on each part of the build. I've always loved this 'copter. You did your usual great job!

Hey Owen. You don‘t have to apologize. I‘m glad about your support and your comments! 👍
I also like this helo, although I never saw it flying, because it went out of service with the Bundeswehr before I was born. But I loved the TV-Show ‚Riptide‘ back in the 80s and I loved the H-34 since then. So I had to build it!!! 😁

Interesting paint scheme, when I first saw the thumbnail I thought the orange areas especially at the front were masking tape lol

Thank you very much! I really like the paint scheme, too. It brings a little colour into the cabinet. I actually used a lot of masking tape on that helo. I hope, I removed every little piece of it. 😂

Not a fan of post shading, great save on that. Great model kit!

Thank you very much, Michael. I always try my best and before I'm not satisfied with the result, I don't call it finished. But I have to confess, the Sikorsky was a nerve wrecking one (not the kit itself, but the folded rotors were tricky). But in the end it worked out fine and I'm happy with the result. See you next time!! :-)
