I have a Ryan townhome and my inspection had a few things but overall it’s not a bad home. My appliances all work well after 5 years and it’s a solid home. I’m sure when the most custom places aren’t perfect but I gotta say that I’m happy with mine as are my neighbors. Really exceeded my expectations. Storage yes, it’s an issue but I have an attic storage option and a ladder that really works. I prefer maxed out living space
Thanks for this video. We just began construction in a Ryan community and this is exactly what we needed to hear. The cons were known ahead of time and mitigation plans put in place.
Same for me. We are just starting a build and so far, couldn't be happier with what we've experienced. They've been very upfront with everything and seem to be very transparent. As for storage space, we'll have a full basement, so all our junk will have a place to be.
I just bought a home in North Carolina, I am very happy with the quality of the home. They have a faster build process because they have the inventory, and they preassemble parts of the house in their warehouses. Also, I saw that the workers will work 7am - 8pm for the roof, etc. Nothing is perfect in new construction, that is why you have the warranty.
Wish I’d done more research on Ryan Homes before purchasing one of their condos in Potomac Shores, VA. The furnace did not work initially, they didn’t fix the blue tape items from the walkthrough, they left building materials in the HVAC room, garage was full of dirt and I can hear the upstairs unit TV and walking. Not to mention the hole behind the stove that allowed mice to enter my home. I’ve caught two and think the third got sealed up into the wall. It’s a been a few weeks and I’ve not heard it scratch the walls. Hopefully he find a way out in another unit. 🤦🏽♀️🤬
Hey - I am in MD, and Ryan Homes is consistently building poor, subquality homes; I wish you had talked about it more (time stamp 2:33). The community I live in, and others that were made by Ryan Homes /NVR all suffer with build quality and durability, not to mention poor customer service from the builder when trying to have issues resolved. For example, the products they choose for the homes often fail within the first year or two, i.e., entry doors, terrace or patio doors, cabinets, tiles, flooring, and carpet installations. Things like drywall seams, caulking, and subflooring are consistently poorly done (there is no rigorous quality control in their build standards). Also, the airflow from the HVAC is often insufficient for the top floor in their townhomes. Finally, they tend to install appliances that are either out of circulation or low quality. How do I know this, you ask? I live in a Ryan Home that I bought, and I can't believe this is supposed to be a new home. I live in a community where we all experience these issues with our homes (between 3 and 5 years old). We all share information about what we have experienced with Ryan Homes, and they are consistently bad. I have visited other Ryan Homes communities and asked homeowners about their experience with their "new homes." They all report the exact problems or similar ones unique to their community. You said: "...clients that I've had purchase Ryan Homes, their home inspections have come back with more items in them than most other builders..." - NICE! To say "items" instead of problems or issues, which are more accurate descriptions, diminishes the severity of the "items" (problems and issues) the home inspection may reveal. I wish you had noted the trend in these "items." My fingers and brain is getting tired from typing about Ryan Homes.
He's right about the storage. If brought a Ryan home and there is not storage space. You can pay for an upgrade attic with storage but the price is not worth it. It's easier to get a backyard shed for cheaper.
The same thing here in the 757 Virginia area they I seen them build a whole community in less than 9 months I hear several people including family say they will never buy a home from Ryan homes again after they sold I see them building all over now seeing this video in other states I can only imagine the profit margins
I am a witness of Ryan's homes fast construction. My driveway is cracking after one year. Also , my cabinetry is falling apart one year after the purchase. A mass amount of poor reviews do not lie. I don't care if Ryan Homes has different tiers of homes. Every new home regardless of tier should be built by quality material and contractors. I had an uneasy feeling on the closing date because it was as if I was buying a box of candy. I should have listened to the reviews and my heart. If Ryan Homes is building homes in a community with Bahia grass do not buy in that community.
Im looking at getting a Ryan home and have no idea what to believe. I hear plenty of people living in them in my area say theyre great for 8+ years living in them and have no issues. Then you go online and majority of the world is bashing them
Be careful, I purchased in the Dumfries VA area and they are throwing them together so quick that they’ve forgotten to properly install HVAC systems and not complete repairs from the walkthrough. Heck my neighbor didn’t event get a final walkthrough 🤦🏽♀️
I live on a road with all Ryan throw togethers I'm the only lucky one that has a custom home on a acre plus lot at the end of these cookie cut bed and breakfasts ! my home is custom built and it shows
I have asked my realtor to not ever show me a Ryan home. Looks at what they did to the people at Sunset island in ocean city. They do not fix the issues. An entire condo complex was not built to code let alone spec.
Bro… where to begin… Our home was 6 years old… creeking floors leaking walls when it would rain hollow walls I could hear every word during a conversation from the living room to the back bed room there’s literally no storage space at all the closets were useless the front door frame was replaced after year 4 because the “wood” would swell and prevent the door from closing same with the side door we replaced the doors and trim the middle bedroom widow would leak when it would rain also creating mildew … listen… save your money.
So glad we dodged a fake gold bullet with not buying a Ryan Home. I pulled out just in the nick of time, so now I do not have to experience a homeowners lifetime of pain and regrets! I say no thank you to manufactured vinyl box houses!
I mean a lot of these issues are in all wood frame houses. Imagine having an older house, like me. I have more issues than all these comments combined. Welcome to home ownership, comments section.
Yes every Ryan home starts with the same quality leave it up to the homeowner to fix their bad quality work. Ryan homes has the same mindset as a bad house flipper knowing whoever moves in is ripping it out and replacing.

I’m buying a home from NVR now and you are absolutely spot on right

A home is not cost effective if there are major repairs after the first year of construction. Thank you for your honesty.

Thanks for this information. I was concerned about exactly what you talked about... rapid construction usually brings poor quality

I have clients happy with them as well - I think you just need to be sure to get 3rd party inspections throughout the process
Be careful, I purchased in the Dumfries VA area and they are throwing them together so quick that they’ve forgotten to properly install HVAC systems and not complete repairs from the walkthrough. Heck my neighbor didn’t event get a final walkthrough 🤦🏽♀️
I bought a house in North carolina. It's great, other states it's a case by case basis.

Can’t wait for DR Horton & Lennar, and the others that I don’t know yet lol
Thank you for what you’re doing!
We have NV Homes, Dr Horton, DRB Coastal, Lennar, and KHovnanian to come over the next 5 weeks!

I lost a chunk of change after getting out before I got too deep... Lesson learn. Don't put much "earnest money down" , you don't mind losing...

How much did Ryan Homes pay you to do this video?
Ryan homes did not pay me anything to make the video. As a further point, they barely pay agents when we bring them a buyer
@@MattLunden I just closed on a house with them. By mere observation, you can tell they cut a lot of corners; from cheap materials to poor finishing.
It varies by community & crew here. I’ve seen some great and some eye opening
Walls are not even square
Oh you are handsome in your profile pic
Ryan homes are the worst.
not all ryan homes are the same! speak on specific areas dont say ryan homes at a whole. my opinion
Yup!
Yes every Ryan home starts with the same quality leave it up to the homeowner to fix their bad quality work. Ryan homes has the same mindset as a bad house flipper knowing whoever moves in is ripping it out and replacing.
I live in Ryan Home in Moyock, NC and have no problem 1 yr in! So yes dont say ALL Ryan Homes that is unfair & misleading.
@@williamsolomon9162 wonder how you'll feel about it in another year or two....many people are saying the same thing after the 2nd or 3rd year.
@@msthangndcmetro exactly the same so whats your next complaint?
