This was a very useful video. I was going nuts trying to find a way to "send to back" the tab control so that my fields could be visible again and it was as simple as cut and paste. Than you so much!

Totally agree with you about tabs, yet I sometimes get projects from clients that have tabs, and pages, and sometimes they're even within subforms that dynamically load on the page.

One way to use different background colors for each tab is to put subforms on the tabs. Have each subform cover up the entire area of each tab. Each tab will, of course, have the background color of each subform. If you have an order form, invoice form, customer form, etc., you can put them all on one form under different tabs, making it easier for the user to get to each form. Assign letter shortcuts to the tabs, such as &Customer form, &Invoice form, &Order form, so the user can press Alt-C, Alt-I, Alt-O to get to the forms.

Yeah, I do the same thing but without the tabs. I just use labels to change the SourceObject property of the subform.

I agree working with a database with tabs and they are a pain. Tried dragging a new form into a new tab and it would not accept it.

As for as I understand the use of Tabs is to use Single Form for many Fields/Text Boxes to show all text boxes in a single form.

Hello Richard - great videos thanks. I can see that you use of subforms is better - but how can I refer to a page in a tab control which we currently have on our database? I want to be able to refer to a specific page within the tabs with a command button on another form. Thanks :)

Be careful to use many subforms with a bunch datas in the tab control. When you listing in main form, each subform refreshing data so if you have complex database, it's can produce lags...
If I have subforms in tab control, I set source of record I set the record source only when selecting a specific tab (After leaving, change tab I clean source of record on not active tabs.). This ensures that when browsing through the data in the main form, only the necessary data that the user can see is retrieved. Of course, this solution requires more programming.

Definitely. I cover how to switch between multiple subforms in my ABCD database. If there's enough interest, I could make a TechHelp video on it. 599cd.com/ABCD
