there’s a lot of truth with the African hair braiders doing hair unnecessarily too tight. I’ve been going since I was 5, but by the grace of God I still have my hairline intact and fairly thick hair 😭. and looking back at it, I don’t think it was right for my mother to have me undergo so much pain that young (and possibly damage my hair follicles) just to have me look presentable. I remember crying in the seat while have my thoughts being yanked out of my brain, just redundant. A five year old isn’t focused on the state of their hair. And I think the issue of black mothers having their daughters undergo all this tight manipulation in an effort for them to look good factors on to why a lot of us may suffer from alopecia or hair that can’t grow from a very young age, because our mothers habits (that we may have picked up and continued) prohibited our hair from flourishing. and this is where we pick up the “bad hair” term because our lack of understanding of past abuse towards our scalp☹️
Thank you for doing someone’s hair with albinism . It means a lot! I have albinism and have starter locs. I do not have fine hair but it is nice to see someone treat lighter hair so I can better tell what is going on.
I have very fine hair. I always thought it would be too delicate to loc. I never had braids or weaves, because I thought it would cause hair loss. Good to know!
damn she took it back to the african braiders in harlem 125th street. they meet you coming out the train station, she not lying about fine soft texture hair. too much manipulation it will be on the floor.
Everything in this video is TRUTH! I have fine hair and lost my edges to a braider that installed micro braids too tight about 15 years ago. My braids literally fell out from the root from the pulling. My edges were sore, inflamed and baby butt bald. I stopped getting braids and it took years but I’m seeing fuzzies and I am VERY thankful. I’m trying to get to locs by using Yannie’s tips on my loose hair, I’ll get there. Thanks for these educational videos Yannie! Oh and this young lady is BEAUTIFUL!
Having fine textured locs myself, I can relate to everything you’re preaching right now. I can’t follow the TH-cam hair trends, can’t wash or retwist as often as others, and styles are a headache causing so much traction it drove me crazy throughout the years and this video helped so much!
I had someone braid my hair well over 2 decades ago - never again! I had it done just before going on a school trip with my daughter. The next couple days after the trip, I had terrible backache, from the nape of my neck to the muscles way down in my lower back! I blamed it all on the bus and the "bad" roads. Had to see my doctor eventually, got medication to help with the swelling/inflammation and pain. Long story short, the braiding process was the cause of pulled my muscles! NEVER AGAIN!!
This is how I found you Yannie! Because of an African doing my locs. I lost my hairline. My whole crown hairline was gone. I said never again! I took your pointers and found someone who does things the right way. No clips, dryers, wax... Thank you!❤️
Glad to see someone with fine hair like me with healthy locs! I get a little worried sometimes because I see my scalp so clearly after I retwist my hair and I get nervous because it seems like my roots are so thin, even though I am gentle with my hair and most definitely don't wear any styles (sensitive scalp). But, it looks the exact same way on her. Her roots appear to be thin with lots of scalp but she actually has a full head of hair. Although, the difference between her and I is that my skin tone is the same as Yannie's but my scalp is as white as my palms so I get really self conscious when my scalp is showing 🥴
I also have fine textured locked hair and this video was absolutely the right one to show the health of the scalp and hair. I'm no longer gonna stress about my scalp showing after maintenance 👍🏾💜
Been following you for years. I appreciate the focus on fine hair. My hair is soft and fine. Had locs 11 years. I also have alopecia areata. Yet my locs are passing my butt. I don't do lpads of styles and updos. I use headscarves sparingly as they break my hair if too tight. I don't overly manipulate. I don't over wash nor over oil. Honestly even before the locs i did my own hair. I believe its why I have any at all. Hairdressers is like a nightmare for gine haired people
I'm so glad to see this video. My hair is just like hers, fine and soft. I was hesitant to get locs because of it.. I have not had anyone do my hair in over year and a half. I didn't like how tight they were pulling my hair. Every couple washes I loosely twist with natural aloe Vera. Real talk though, I can't go super long periods without washing. 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks is my schedule. My locs are looking really good and my hair is healthier and thicker. I use to just pull it back in a pony tail before getting loc'd and it was thinning my already fine hair. Seeing this young lady is really encouraging.
Thank you for sharing your client with those beautiful goldy-locks, and included much needed information about fine hair. That would be me all day long, fine and cruly. By listening and watching your videos all the years, I have Locs for 5 yrs now. Many Blessings...🙏💜💜💜✌
Your vibe is what’s missing in hair dressers locticians nowadays! I’m fifteen months loc’d and my hair has never been healthier in my entire life. My hair is fine and DRY with problematic scalp prone to genetic baldness. - the stuff of nightmares but I was about to overcome all of these by getting to know my crown, little manipulation, clean water and light oils. I recently discovered steam/thermal cap and my hair is blooming! I watch your videos all the time for wisdom. Vanessa is just GORGEOUS and her hair is a 🦁 mane! Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for doing this video. I have fine textured hair and your advice is spot on. I do my hair myself because I understand how delicate it is. I really enjoyed seeing someone with hair like mine.
Don’t have locs, and probably never will because my curls are too loose, thanks to my white daddy lol. But I could listen to you talk all day Yannie. You’re so fun and funny and smart. I could listen to you talk about grass growing. You have a new subscriber ❤️
Yannie, Namaste!!!!!!!! I’ve watched a ton of your videos, and I literally just started my loc journey on 10th Feb...my 19 year old son started his 2 weeks before me. We follow your protocol, and we’re keeping it super simple. I spray my hair w rose water or distilled and only oil my scalp w castor oil. My hair is light as a feather I totally appreciate you my SISTAH!!!!!! Looooove Vanessa’s energy and she’s beautiful
The information of the client's strands has increased my, patience to continue decrease manipulation of my fine/soft textured locd hair. Thanks Yannie and client for sharing ✅👍🏾💯🥰🙏🏾
Hey Yannie. You're taking about me and my sister. She finally started her locks and I can't wait till he one year mark so she can come see you! Much love... See you soon in Georgia!!!
Peace and blessings to you Queen Yannie. My hair is fine texture hair and it's been a 7 year journey and my hair doesn't have volume and my locks a almost like sister locs however my hair is very healthy and you have encouraged me to take care of my beautiful locs my hair is like baby healthy hair. I appreciate my fine hair. Thank you so much 💕🙏🏾💕
She's so beautiful! Her personality and her energy is so positive and inviting. I'm sure if I knew her we would be friends. The NATURAL hair color is a bonus! Gorgeous!
Thank you so much for this video. When I first started watching I was very paranoid about my Locs. I to have very soft and fine hair like a baby. I could never wear braids especially the synthetic add on for braids. It just damaged my hair. Most styles would be for 2 weeks and it would damage my hair. I love the fact that since we been in this pandemic I have been focused on taking care of my Locs. I got my hair locked long via interlocking method in Jan 2019. The person who was doing my hair at first realized that my hair could not have a lot of tension. I started getting the white dots on my hair. Just to show you that I did not wear braids and never wear my hair tight on my head. I went to the doctor because I thought I had lice or something. I didn't understand what those white dots were on my hair. 🤔 moving forward doctor told me it was nothing wrong but also didn't tell me that my hair was too tight. So I appreciate watching your videos during the pandemic. I was one of those who got my hair retightened every 6 weeks because of my job. Fast forward to the pandemic. My last retwist was Mar 2020 just before the lockdown and my birthday. To this day I have not been in the chair. I learned from you Yanni to embrace my fuzzy and puffy roots. And use natural products on my hair. My hair has grown so much during the pandemic. Of course I retighten my hair because I needed to keep myself busy during these times but I waited until December to do so. But for the most part I was my hair every 3 months or longer with Dr Bronner. I was already using it on my body. And I use the Rosewater and Vitamin E on my scalp. My scalp and hair always smells good. I feel like my hair grows like weeds without all the products I was using pre pandemic. But this video I loved because I was concerned about how my scalp look when retighten compared to your wonderful thick hair clients. I feel much better. And thanks for talking " good hair". Ive heard that all my life. I can't stand it. There is only so much you can do with fine hair. Thick hair is most resilient. I look forward to seeing more videos with your fine hair clients and maintenance
Peace and love Yannie, you must have heard me putting this out in the universe the past week lmao. I have fine texture hair and I was stressing. I follow exactly as you say, and everything is all good over hear. Sending much love and light your way.
Omg the lady who said she got her fine hair from her grandmother on her father's side, I do too!!! My hair is so fine, when my mom used to cornrow it and take it out it would look pressed after.
I absolutely love watching your videos. You always give each client the care their locs need and you always speak your truth. Please take care of yourself. Many blessings.
This video was for me! Thank You! I started my loc journey last year and I have fine texture. My hairline is now growing back, I even got the corner pieces now, something I haven’t had for almost 20 years from the creamy crack. Bald patches have started coming in too, because of the over manipulation from 10 years of being loose natural. Thanks for speaking about this hair texture!
Her Locs are gorgeous as well as herself. I have her type of fine, I love the natural blonde color. Knowledge is power, your information has gotten me through my Loc journey. Yannie I’m glad you are healing, peace my sister.💖💖💖
I am glad to see you are doing well and thanks for the information on your video about soft textured hair I have two textures soft going around my head and course in the middle again thank you for the information

I experienced this also. I kept complaining to the stylist. I had a headache that was unreal.
@@lakithagoss897 😔😠
She is ssoo Beautiful..her name should be Sun( not just for the bright color of her hair but her energy too), she us gorgeous..
Yesss
Thank you for doing someone’s hair with albinism . It means a lot! I have albinism and have starter locs. I do not have fine hair but it is nice to see someone treat lighter hair so I can better tell what is going on.
The most gorgeous head of locs I've seen in awhile! The way her hair flows over Yannie's fingers is amazing; like liquid gold.
She is literally an aesthetic she is flawless.
She's Beautiful
Amen
She has a beautiful Spirit and a beautiful head of hair. I wish Lonnie was in San Diego!
I love her blonde locks.

Yannie that's so true on coloring her hair, people pay for the color of her hair! So beautiful ❤️
So true. You cannot over manipulate soft fine hair....and the braiders will definitely pull your wig allllll the way back!!! Love your energy Yanni!!
Goldilocks is beautiful.
Yannie you are a love. An absolute love.
She not lyin, they took all my edges. The days of not being able to put my head down to sleep at night. boy if I knew then what I know now😔
Man I swear!!!!
Tell me about it
She is very pretty. It’s funny how people always want something different. Her locs are real nice!
Having fine textured locs myself, I can relate to everything you’re preaching right now. I can’t follow the TH-cam hair trends, can’t wash or retwist as often as others, and styles are a headache causing so much traction it drove me crazy throughout the years and this video helped so much!
This baby is an original "Goldie Locks". She's the Caucasian woman's envy! Blessings Queen! Thanks Yannie!

She is Beautiful and so is her personality. Love the locs and the hair color.

Oh my goodness. Ok hands down that's the worst one I've heard. I didn't even know someone can braid that tight to pull muscles. Smh @ these braiders
@@YannietheLocologist Yeah! Unforgettable! Not to mention the hair bumps that accompanied the tight "do"!
This is how I found you Yannie! Because of an African doing my locs. I lost my hairline. My whole crown hairline was gone. I said never again! I took your pointers and found someone who does things the right way. No clips, dryers, wax... Thank you!❤️

hey, i was just thinking, haven't seen ya in a while. thanks for sharing Goldie Locs!
Totally blessed my soul to see this video. I needed to hear a loctician a perspective of working with people with albinism.
Her eyelashes are gorgeous 😍
"Sweet Baby Jesus in a onsie!" I've got to remember that!!!🤣

I'm soooo jealous of people with long locs, but patients will yield great results
I have to stay calm when I think of all the years I use to cut my locs to keep them short!! LESSON LEARNT!

Lovely queen with a lovely crown and beautiful spirit 🖤
That’s informative… my hair is so soft, and damaged over time. Didn’t know washing was bad too.

Some Caucasians loc their hair. It just takes a bit longer to loc
Your hair can still loc dear
You could get locks. Interlocking would be a good option for your loose curls.
If you listen to her then you’ll hear her say, no matter what texture hair you have, if you don’t comb your hair you will have locs.
You could get them. It just would take longer for them to lock.
