      Anyone remember the mid 1960'- mid 1970's where both African American blacks both men and women had afro's? Very natural and very pretty. But by the 1980's wigs and weaves were popular and that liquid gel for curls was also popular. And nothing wrong with wearing wigs or have a weave once in a while but natural is the way to go, just fix it to your style.

    I don't understand My real hair looks like your crotchet but mine is longer. Just because u replace wigs doesnt mean anything when you're still using. Fake hair. If the point u are trying to make is dont wear fake hair then u need to include all aspects of fake hair. Wearing braids, crochet, sew ins too long or too often can damage anyone's hair. Proper install and proper care is the key. When i pull my hair down. I'm almost waist length. I really dont like the fact that you're trying to convince others to do what works for u. U do what works for you. Stop discouraging people from something that may be working for them.

Your scalp is alive and connected to your brain. You can't cover up your scalp and not expect repercussions. Dedicate your energies and money to NATURE. You will see a whole lot difference in your overall health. HEALTH 1ST always. You can't cheat nature. All the best Hun. 😘

      Yes, this is one aspect of it. Women who have access to wigs, weaves, implants, make up, shape wear etc have already pronounced that their natural beauty is not of natural beauty. Your natural beauty is how God sees you and how you feel about yourself. Blame social media, TV, videos, negative influences or whomever you want to blame if any. At the end of the day, when you take those things off, do you love and accept yourself? God does.

    Wearing wigs is just like putting on makeup. If you don’t take care of your skin, your skin becomes problematic. What’s the difference between crochet, wigs, and weave? It’s all NOT your hair. I would appreciate the message more if it was geared toward taking care of ones natural hair than to disparage the use of wigs. Sounds like your issue with wigs runs way deeper than wigs. And 90% of black women do not wear wigs every day. And of the women who do, many take care of their hair. Protective styling is ONE reason. Others see wigs as an accessory just like jewelry. Just like you take time with your makeup, women do the same with wigs.
    This message is a problem. It’s judgmental, hypocritical and is drowning in self hate. 🤦🏽‍♀️
    Side note: length does not equal beauty. Smh

    • @brendajones5895
      @brendajones5895 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      The 90% idea of women not wearing wigs is a misrepresentation honestly. I say that because ever where I go at least more than half of the population of black women are wearing wigs or some form of weave. It amazes me how wigs became such a popular things considering, how wigs was usually for the dead, Hollywood, and prostitutes. Now society has told women that wigs are the thing to do or consider. I personally think wigs are for lazy people.

    • @imTlyn
      @imTlyn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@brendajones5895 do you know the work that goes into installing a wig? Those ladies could never be lazy. Trust. I’ll say it again, wigs are an accessory just like everything else you place on your body. You weren’t born with clothes on but you wear them. You weren’t born with fragranced lotions ans deodorant yet you use them. Let people live. It’s their entire prerogative. 90% of black women do NOT wear wigs every day. Maybe 90% of the people you see do. It’s trendy. It’s stylish. It’s expressIon. It’s. Their. Business.
      Why do people who don’t do care about people who do do? 🤦🏽‍♀️

      Girl stop LYING to yourself. Y’all keep telling people you are wearing wigs for protective styling! Girl you are wearing wigs because you Like the look, length and texture of the other hair compared to your own. You are also wearing wigs because it’s takes a lot of time to care for your own. I’m a black women and I wish you/we would just admit that we like the texture of other races of women’s hair and stop lying and saying you are protecting it. From what. Cause trust and believe if half of y’all’s hair was down your back you’d be wearing yours. And if your hair was that texture you would be wearing yours. Those wigs are hella uncomfortable, they itch, you cannot wash your hair for periods of time. They smell, the lace irritates your forehead, the glue irritates the the forehead, the combs press into your scalp, the wigs wear and tears on your ears and the back of your neck. And you go through all that to say that you are wearing it cause you’re protecting your hair. Girl bye!

    So much of what you say I relate to, but I have to tell you, cornrows can look super sexy too! There's a woman I knew who use to rock a simple, short cornrow style (straight back) which would really enhance her pretty face and bone structure. I've also seen some stunning females sporting buzz hair cuts. Length isn't everything, but i appreciate diversity and preference and that short hair isn't for everyone. It's just a refreshing change away from the frequent observation of women wearing wigs of a similar texture and length and looking the same, but that doesn't take away from the fact that wigs have really come up and females are looking fab!! Enjoyed. Thanks for sharing...
