Frankly, I don't think D12 would have become even remotely famous without Eminem. I don't know how they sounded before Devil's Night, but that album, to me, is an extension of the slim shady persona. They copied his formula to try and make it sound more like the slim shady LP. Fans loved the slim shady stuff, so it was only logical for them to want more of the same, which was Devil's Night. If they had to do it without Em's star power and industry connections, they might have remained unknown.
@@krasiomilchev160 yeah I agree. I think without Eminem attached to D12 they would not have been as popular as they were. I think this still a good chance they may have been popular locally. There's no question about that. Proof was right behind him. But once Eminem started to get more popular and didn't have as much time to spend working on D12 and having proof die. Because Em tries to blaze paths. He raps pop. Rock rap. Hell, even traditional Arabic tunes. This is perhaps something that remains of Shady. The Shady he's been trying to bury since When I'm Gone

It's nice that he laid this one down for his friends. I hope he puts any regrets on this topic to bed now, it isn't his fault they didn't blow up. If anything, they wouldn't have likely made a fraction of the money or impact they were able to without him caring enough to allow D12 to happen at all. His talent gave them more exposure than 99.9% of aspiring rappers will ever get.
Exactly. Without Eminem they would never even get a chance to rap anywhere outside of a few Detroit spots. He pushed them, gave them a chance to earn money, gave them exposure.. he owes them nothing. They were simply never that good to stand on their own.
Kafanska TV And you missed the point Jesus Christ Eminem “Fans” don’t listen to him I swear to god. Eminem feels that if he never joined D12 these guys would have been bigger because they wouldn’t have been overshadowed by his rising star. Regardless of how Eminem fans feel the guys were talented but it’s hard for people to see your gifts if you’re literally rapping next to one of the best rappers in the game. That’s where his guilt is the members don’t want nothing from Eminem but he’s said they feel they can’t talk to him.
@@jerrymoore8701 "I was hopin' they do so I ain't have to shoulder the group The plan was put everyone in position so that they knew how to stand on they own" "I love all of you, men But I just can't be the guy Everybody depends on for entire careers 'Cause that's not even fair" Here is where he clearly say he doesn't want to carry the group on his shoulders. And, let's not lie, most of them were average at best who would never get any shine if there wasn't for Em. He is the one who carried them higher then they ever would go without him. Before Proof died he was the leader of the group, and after he died they also turned to Em for leadership, as well as riding his coat the entire career, and he simply saya I hoped you would blow up and stand on your own so I don't have to take care of all of you. But they didn't, because they weren't good on their own. And Em wasn't in a state of mind to pull them forward. He became a recluse, left if all behind to focus on himself, year later it just wasn't the same I just noticed the oomf was gone when we go in the booth 'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group And maybe they fell betrayed for it, but they had no right to. He brought them up, and let them stand on their own. They couldn't, they fell.
Kafanska TV But Eminem said in his interview with sway it’s still all love and they don’t blame him. Eminem himself felt it was his duty to carry the group no one told him to do this listen to shit like yellow brick road he’s very aware that his star wouldn’t be as big if he wasn’t white and with everyone ignoring his friends who once again I not going to agree with you the other members of D12 are way above average as you keep saying their freestyles show that. I’m not sure what other rap groups you’ve listened to but once again when you’re rapping on the same song with one of the best you’ll look average. Shoot, many great players never got their shine because Michael Jordan was so dominant at the game and Eminem is MJ. Listen to some of the other guys solo projects they are good remove add Eminem then your ear will be like well it’s no mmlp
@@bateson811 Nah, even if Proof was alive they wouldn't be making music as a group most likely. These things just don't last. They had a specific style which worked for that era, but it went out and they wouldn't be relevant in 2010s with that type of music. And realistically, the generally relied on Eminem to make hits and he couldn't carry them forever. The truth is D12 was over way before Proof died. That was just a great excuse to officially end it.

The word play in this song is incredible "We were so bulletproof, wrote, souped and soaked in our youth thought we was runnin' shit 'til we lost the sole of our shoe, the death of Doody"! Bullet proof and the mention of Doody got me crying and running shit till we lost the sole of our shoe and Proof/Doody was the soul of the group.
Yes sir that’s how it is man even the underground shit no matter how hard it gets still gets me through all the shit that I currently go through on a daily basis
"I just noticed that oomph was gone when we go in the booth 'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group." Such emotional honesty. D12 needs to give it up it isn't the dirty dozen without eminem and proof so give it up
Wow just fkn wow His sincerity is impeccable A man who's lived it all and still remains humble He loved all the legends and they all love him. I'd never thought I'd say this at 47 years old but Em is the greatest rapper ever And I'm not really much of a fan But I think I'll give him a chance now
There were plans for a third D12 album, but after Proof was killed, things started slipping through the cracks. If Proof was still alive, I'm not sure if the group would still be full-time active, but I'm more than 100% certain that not only would that third D12 album have been recorded and released, but every album of Eminem's that would eventually be released, there'd be one track on each featuring the group.

When i came across this track it motivated me to follow him up and make amends .even if its not the same energy anymore ,i have a peace of mind and no resentment.i now live with a clear concious ,even if we met by accident i am not bitter .
All because of this song
Finally its accessible on youtube! Thankyou!!! I love this song!

@@lgoony9909 no. The last line of the outro is "I never meant to use you all for my stepping stones"
D12 will always be the one and only band i will remember forever
He sounds like early 2000s Eminem in this wtf
Just the way this flow works. Probably realized he needed to address his demons in his past. Probably the closest to Eminem show/ encore you can get in terms of mix and style.
Nathan Harris Yeah it’s the way his vocals are layered, mostly on the chorus but the verses too.
Because Em tries to blaze paths.
He raps pop. Rock rap. Hell, even traditional Arabic tunes.
This is perhaps something that remains of Shady. The Shady he's been trying to bury since When I'm Gone
It’s almost like they’re the same person lmao
@@danceswithchihuahuas well said. Will the *real* slim shady. Please stand up
God that sounds like Em from 2002-2006... I miss how he use to double an tripple up his verses..
What do u mean
harmonic layering search for it
He did that a lot in Recovery tho
@@ARose47 yeah you're right. he did do that in recovery. But it just doesn't sound the same as The Marshall Mathers LP or any song within that era. Recovery album is up there with The Marshall Mathers LP them 2 are iconic albums
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
"Went from rainin' cats and dogs in this bitch, to tiny drops little drips
and by the time your reign (rain) is over, you'll hardly be missed (mist)"
Perfect example of his double entendres nowadays, but it has narrative value and wordplay value.
*Absolute* fucking fire.
This beat and the tone of the song reminds me of The Eminem Show. I love it.
Max You’re missing the point entirely Jesus.

"I was hopin' they do so I ain't have to shoulder the group
The plan was put everyone in position so that they knew how to stand on they own"
"I love all of you, men
But I just can't be the guy
Everybody depends on for entire careers
'Cause that's not even fair"
Here is where he clearly say he doesn't want to carry the group on his shoulders.
He became a recluse, left if all behind to focus on himself, year later it just wasn't the same
I just noticed the oomf was gone when we go in the booth
'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group
And maybe they fell betrayed for it, but they had no right to.
Wish proof could have heard it R.I.P
If proof was alive this song probably wouldn't exist and d12 would still be making music.
You can be damn sure, where ever proof is he heard it dawg
He heard it
@@bateson811 Nah, even if Proof was alive they wouldn't be making music as a group most likely.
@@KafanskaTV I'd say judging by what was going on at the time and the numbers Eminem was still pulling. If Proof lived or never got shot they probably would have had at least one more album before disbanding in the early 2010s
"I better stop and say my grace,
from that I pray that I don't fall,
'cause on the way back down I may,
end up runnin' back into them all"
"It's not goodbye to our friendship, but D12 is over" 😣😢😭 that hit a soft spot, ain't going to lie, it made me cry. I grew up to this, it can't be over...
I love the honesty of this song. True artistry and transparency here in a way that only Eminem could provide.
I just love everything about this song. It gets better every time I listen to it. Rip Proof and all of D12. ❤
Man. D12 still my favorite rap group to this day.
The nostalgia on this song is so high ❤
This is the Em we need ! The story telling genius that spit fire 🔥
this song is just pure emotion
3:44 another level of universe that flow 🐐
This song makes me cry every time i hear this hook 🥲 also the lyrics "cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group" hits so hard...😓
He sounds like he's about to cry at the end, someone give the man a hug, we're here Em, we love you
This song is so old school, with the old vibe from 2002-2006 em, its nothing to do with hus new mumble style and the other songs on kamikaze or revival from tha era, love it, i wish he would go back to this style 🙌
Sole of our shoe = Soul of our show... This man is a bloody genius!
3:44 is the best thing I’ve heard

hadda comment again when that beat switched and eminem just went in, that was some good shit thats the rap and eminem that i miss.
Eminem is my all time favourite rapper he is just incredible and this reminds me of his early albums which were the absolute best! ❤️
You know what Eminem and Tom Brady have in common...
They're both in their 40's doing better than the 20 year olds in their fields. 🤔
😂😂
Debatable
Just Eminem. Not too sure about Brady tbh
Joseph Scaduto em still relies on relevant ppl like logic, Joyner, etc and does songs with them to get his relevance back, true em wouldn’t be doing that, he would be making songs himself to make him popular not rely on others to do it for him, em really messed a great opportunity up
Markel Scott half
Eminem has lots of emotional songs but man…This is something else i swear as a huge D12 fan this shit gets me
This track is a masterpiece must of been heartbreakin to write..eminem the 🐐
I remember in 01-02 I was only 11-12 years old & Eminem was my favorite rapper. I was like a Stan, I begged my mom to lemmd dye my hair blonde lol(she didnt lemme) but being 32 now. I'm just happy I could still put some up to date Eminem music on & enjoy it. Not many artist last as long as he has
This sounds like fire 🔥
Prolly the most underrated song of Em. Personally to me this was the best song off Kamikaze. I always when em flows as Marshall Matthers like he did with mocking bird, when Im gone, Bad Husband and this track. We miss you D12! I still hope they do a track together one day.

you can feel the love he has for his crew
This song is amazing. The flow is so smooth in the verses, the production is superb, the chorus is catchy and emotionally hitting, and that last part with vocal layering makes it so much more amazing. Easily a Top 10 Eminem song.
How come, we don't even talk no more
And you don't even call no more
We don't barely keep in touch at all
And I don't even feel the same love when we hug no more

The word play in this song is incredible "We were so bulletproof, wrote, souped and soaked in our youth thought we was runnin' shit 'til we lost the sole of our shoe, the death of Doody"! Bullet proof and the mention of Doody got me crying and running shit till we lost the sole of our shoe and Proof/Doody was the soul of the group.

I love how Eminem puts his emotions in his song it's like his old style
def. one of eminems best songs
Nobody has ever spitted like Eminem. I thank God for you 🔥
Straight poetry 🙌
"I just noticed that oomph was gone when we go in the booth
'Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group." Such emotional honesty. D12 needs to give it up it isn't the dirty dozen without eminem and proof so give it up

One of my favorites
That 2002 flow Em 🔥🔥🔥

This song is dope i play it because it reminds me hes still the eminem if old minus the drugs. Drugs didnt make slim. Hes truly talented either way.
Malcolm Piper he doesn’t sound old he’s still got it unlike some artist come back he matures like fine bottle of wine,he still looks great 🐐🥇🇬🇧
Wow just fkn wow
His sincerity is impeccable
A man who's lived it all and still remains humble
He loved all the legends and they all love him.
I'd never thought I'd say this at 47 years old but Em is the greatest rapper ever

You have Jade approval let's blow this track up!!! D12 foreva
One of Ems Greatest Lines Ever. Raining Cats in Dogs in this Bitch till tiny drops turn to Drips and by the time your Rain/Reign is over you'll Hardly be Mist/Missed. That is Fucking 🔥 Bar, Love It
His thought process is crazy. I hate these new rappers who make random lyrics up just for it to go well with the beat
Gosh ... this song is absolutely beautiful
My favorite song from Kamikaze. So emotional and the hook :O

The reality em will never get is he is just flat out much more talented than any of them. He can’t see it because they are his idols and mentors and peers. But they had no shot if going big without him. I have them a chance as a kid and a shady fan. They were all great but not undeniable like slim. It’s not his fault he was simply better and destined to be big time
