I feel like symmetra's design changes tell a TON about what happened in-between ow1 and ow2 with her. Like you mentioned, her clothes look more unsymmetrical and that strip of Hair coming out on the front is also very unorganized. It shows us that she came a long way with her will to keep everything perfect and accepted that there's also beauty and order in chaos. The strip of Hair was the first thing to tell me that since a perfectionistic person definitely wouldn't want to have that, yet she just allows it to happen and doesn't seem to care that much anymore.
Junkrat got himself a bit of a glow-up, and he actually has hair on his head now. I wonder why him and roadhog have switched out their yellow for red though.

my only criticism with the new skins is yhe dulling down of a lot of colours. Characters like sigma, zarya or baptiste just got drained of their colour and personality, and ngl it looks rlly cool but it also feels dry and generic
i agree fully, i'd also add that in switching out a lot of the fabrics for sleek future spandex we lost a lot of texture and wear-and-tear. it works for some characters but overall it makes everything look smooth and as you said, dry and generic
Yeah I hate how bland a lot of their colors are now they bleached half the cast and took away a lot of colors from outfits. Also they now hate gold as all the gold parts of weapons and outfits was removed from most of them for some reason.
What I have to say for Brigitte is that her body doesn't look as strange with the armor as it did in OW1. And I can appreciate that she seems a little bigger/bulkier in OW2 without the armor deforming her body :)
I have to say the Junkrat's redesign is my favourite. The buzzsaw blades on his R.I.P Tire are just unbelievably nice to look at and his hair has a nice new look.
The only things I don't like about the junkrat redesign is that his hair isn't as on fire and his tire looks less like put together scrap which was part of his character
9:29 it's because the dark purple chemicals that she's using are toxic and are slowly mutating her, this was already evident in ow1 that her right hand was a little darker and a little veins, her arm in ow2 just shows how far the corruption has gone, it's not just a brand new accident, it's something that slowly progressed overtime
I prefer the helmet with reinhardt, and I do hope he gets a option to have his helmet on, possibly revamped a little, but it's fine as is in my opinion.
Symms redesign is easily my favourite but I can't help but feel that a lot of redesigns are downgrades, I think they made everything too smooth and slick especially with characters like Junkrat
Yea, Syms change is one of my faves - her "Slůt strand of hair" or however you put it, kinda is in line with her story. Syms chilling out, not everything needs to be perfect and Symmetric- not even her hair. ♡
The old skins have more details, the materials look far better with the grime, worn and texture to to them while the new ones all look like they are made of the same sterile plastic, some designs even feel like "Fisher Price" toys for toddlers.
Junkrats skin has to be my favorite in the game. It has so much more complexity and black tone rather then junkrat’s traditional bright colors and metal theme.

I think it's because in lore, she was discovered like a month before the OW2 cinematic or something, so it makes some sense as to why we don't see any changes. That doesn't really explain how -McCree- Cassidy and Ashe changed so much in a month when we saw them in the Reunion cinematic, but hey, maybe they said "New Year New Me" or something, idk
I really love the new Orisa look, I think she is way more appealing as a character this way. The only problem I see with it is that she looks less Nigerian and almost more south east asian and I hope she won't lose too much of her identity this way ...
As someone who’s half Nigerian, I’m actually really glad they went this root with her and she feels more Nigerian than she used to be. The dreads and her new voicelines make her feel like she isn’t just a newly remodeled robot, but a legitimate warrior who has learned more about the culture and world she comes from and has to protect.
Most of the outfits look great! But I’m not fond on most of the characters colouring. Sigmas mint blue poped in his old design, Moiras iconic black is now faded which doesn’t work with the silver eye patch and Soldier 76’s 76 doesn’t stand out as much cause there is no white to make it pop. Other characters have similar problems but a few work or even make the characters look better so mixed bag
I gotta disagree with doomfist, his new clothing designs are definitely of african design, and the fur can also be seen as an african style, I like his OW2 look more

I’ll be honest I think with a few exceptions like Sym and Zen I prefer the old skins. What I like about the originals is how they are able to balance modern design tropes and cultural elements with futuristic ones. OG Lucio has a modern skater aesthetic with futuristic elements to make it fit overwatch. New Lucio looks a little generic because everything about him looks “futuristic”. I just feel like the old ones had a lot more personally to them.
Man. Some of these designs are better than before, some I way prefer OW1's, some are barely any different, and some have both good AND bad qualities. Your skins of choice are all up to you though so hey no harm done. I LOVE Ashe having more of a red/blue color scheme and I LOVE Sym's more traditional Indian outfit, however I think the mohawks on Hog and Baptiste are not good fits personally.
Completely agree with Symmetra and baptiste, whovever I'm not a huge fan of Ash, I think her design lost a bit of contrast and Hog looks fine to me, it wasn't a neccessary change but it doesn't change his vibe.

As someone who didn't like her very much, I much prefer this design, she's got more of her own identity. She's got a somewhat more "construction worker" vibe which should sounds weird but actually looks better. The only problem I have is that her hair look kinda glitchy, I wonder if it is because it is still coliding with her old armour or if I'm the only one seeing that

I literally love all the new base skins so much, but I REALLY love Lucios new design lol, the green hair is just so cool and the way they made his bottoms less robotic and more sporty but still kept the design futuristic and also made the legs a little bigger at the bottom to help with extra strength for the jumping is just such a nice change

I think Genji’s redesign is one of the best not because it looks the best even though it does look good the main thing is it shows him just trying to live a normal life and integrating back into society

don't mean to nitpick at all but the symbol on ana's back is most likely a falcon, not an eagle. horus, whose imagery is used consistently for both ana and pharah, had the head of a falcon, not an eagle :) also in a similar vein, zen definitely isn't wearing clothes bc he needs them, but more likely bc they're part of shambali / tibetan culture and just significant to him bc of that
Mixed feelings. Most of the characters got changes to their designs which get rid of things to infer their backgrounds. And everyone being smoothed out or having their clothes look like they’re made of lego. Like junkrat for example, being from junkertown and having to scavenge for things, being clumsy with his explosives, it makes sense in ow1 to have a worn riptire, soot on his face, patchy clothes. Most of those things are completely gone from his design.
I personally like rein and soldier with their helmet and mask on. There's something off about hanzo and maccree. And now road just looks like a toy. But that's just my opinion.
I personally dont like how clean the game looks, its giving mobile game vibes, like i prefer the rough edges and bullet scars in the armor, it gave more character to the designs… of course this is my personal opinion
@@RM-56 like pn dva’s mech,the legs have bullet damage, same with reapers clothing, almost every character has damage in their outfit. Roadhog was another example of a messy character, and in ow 2 he looks so clean and tidy and that just doesnt fit him you know? :/
Call me biased, but my favorites are Hammond and junk rat (my two mains). I don’t know why, but I have this thing about character design where if you just add goggles to a character, I immediately think it looks great.
as a rein main, I like it without the helmet since my main skins were most of the skins that had him without his helmet like conductor or the one with his golden hair.
Me. But i'm fine with that. I'd rather have a sudden massive burst off content on october 4th than play the beta and go back to o1 and hate it even more. So i'm content with not having it.
As a Bastion main I hate his new Appearance same goes for Soldier I think I'm just not used to him not wearing his mask and his usual 76 jacket though his facial design's are sick!
i feel like doom’s white markings were a big part of his design at least to me 😅😅😅 i wonder if they removed it because it’s part of his story or something? i do like the rest of his redesign but it feels like a weird detail to remove. i think a big thing with the ow2 designs though is a big increase in detail but i think some of those choices removed some iconic things i really liked. like d.va’s bright pink mech feels so heavily associated with her character that i feel disappointed that they really made it more of an accent.
I think it's really kinda sus that Doomfist's "main african ties" were the tribal body paint and the bones attached to his clothes. Don't get me wrong, it's iconic drip, but well... lol
If you read the comic book about Symmetra, you would understand that the new skin is much more suitable to the canon and shows that the Symmetry has changed after the events in the comic. Speaks of your ignorance😢👎

Lots of people are happy with their mains new skins, but they did rein dirty man 😭 The helmet is a big notable part of rein’s fit for me, and I hate that they got rid of it.
It definitely seems that the Overwatch crew wanted to give a sense of upgraded to the heros, Bastion's cleaned up and sleek, Winston while not having much changed, has a general refinement to it in shaping and size. Same for Reaper, the dude even got arm blades and lost the hand spikes because his melee is an elbow strike, not a back hand. I don't like the apparent loss of a metallic shine for OW2 though, probably conveying that the materials were swapped out for lighter, possibly stronger material than whatever the metal is, but even the silver colored bits that look like they're shiny just aren't. The weapons look like toys now.
I love a lot of the new upgraded skins, but Widowmaker's just blows me away. Her sniper rifle looks far more intimidating and the hourglass on her scope ARE YOU KIDDING-. Her bodysuit is immaculate and the braid is such a great touch.
I've got to say, Echo's redesign really adds a refreshing feel to her already iconic look. She definitely got a glow up

Ashes new skin is by far my favourite new classic skin. It actually looks so slick and amazing, and the gun is amazing as well

Orisa's redesign is so cool! I love how the horns aren't as intrusive and big, and her face seems much better with more depth.

don't mean to nitpick at all but the symbol on ana's back is most likely a falcon, not an eagle. horus, whose imagery is used consistently for both ana and pharah, had the head of a falcon, not an eagle :)
also in a similar vein, zen definitely isn't wearing clothes bc he needs them, but more likely bc they're part of shambali / tibetan culture and just significant to him bc of that

Bastion is rocking new hardware.. it looks shiny, clean and fricking epic.
Mixed feelings. Most of the characters got changes to their designs which get rid of things to infer their backgrounds. And everyone being smoothed out or having their clothes look like they’re made of lego. Like junkrat for example, being from junkertown and having to scavenge for things, being clumsy with his explosives, it makes sense in ow1 to have a worn riptire, soot on his face, patchy clothes. Most of those things are completely gone from his design.

I personally like rein and soldier with their helmet and mask on. There's something off about hanzo and maccree. And now road just looks like a toy. But that's just my opinion.

I personally dont like how clean the game looks, its giving mobile game vibes, like i prefer the rough edges and bullet scars in the armor, it gave more character to the designs… of course this is my personal opinion
I never saw bullet scars in the armor for OW1. Can you give some examples?
@@RM-56 like pn dva’s mech,the legs have bullet damage, same with reapers clothing, almost every character has damage in their outfit. Roadhog was another example of a messy character, and in ow 2 he looks so clean and tidy and that just doesnt fit him you know? :/

Call me biased, but my favorites are Hammond and junk rat (my two mains). I don’t know why, but I have this thing about character design where if you just add goggles to a character, I immediately think it looks great.
as a rein main, I like it without the helmet since my main skins were most of the skins that had him without his helmet like conductor or the one with his golden hair.

Me. But i'm fine with that. I'd rather have a sudden massive burst off content on october 4th than play the beta and go back to o1 and hate it even more. So i'm content with not having it.

As a Bastion main I hate his new Appearance same goes for Soldier I think I'm just not used to him not wearing his mask and his usual 76 jacket though his facial design's are sick!

As a rein main, I like both. It’d be cool if some of his new skin will have the helmet back on for nostalgia but I think he’s sexy without the helmet.

i feel like doom’s white markings were a big part of his design at least to me 😅😅😅 i wonder if they removed it because it’s part of his story or something? i do like the rest of his redesign but it feels like a weird detail to remove.
i think a big thing with the ow2 designs though is a big increase in detail but i think some of those choices removed some iconic things i really liked. like d.va’s bright pink mech feels so heavily associated with her character that i feel disappointed that they really made it more of an accent.
I think it's really kinda sus that Doomfist's "main african ties" were the tribal body paint and the bones attached to his clothes.
Don't get me wrong, it's iconic drip, but well... lol

Lots of people are happy with their mains new skins, but they did rein dirty man 😭 The helmet is a big notable part of rein’s fit for me, and I hate that they got rid of it.

It definitely seems that the Overwatch crew wanted to give a sense of upgraded to the heros, Bastion's cleaned up and sleek, Winston while not having much changed, has a general refinement to it in shaping and size. Same for Reaper, the dude even got arm blades and lost the hand spikes because his melee is an elbow strike, not a back hand.
I don't like the apparent loss of a metallic shine for OW2 though, probably conveying that the materials were swapped out for lighter, possibly stronger material than whatever the metal is, but even the silver colored bits that look like they're shiny just aren't. The weapons look like toys now.
I love a lot of the new upgraded skins, but Widowmaker's just blows me away. Her sniper rifle looks far more intimidating and the hourglass on her scope ARE YOU KIDDING-. Her bodysuit is immaculate and the braid is such a great touch.
i’m gonna learn widowmaker just so i can be a boss with this skin in OW3
