Funny how these reports always ignore the fact that we (Batswana) have made this decision, from community consultations & committees. I personally don't fancy a hunt, but I cannot ignore the fact that it works for my people here, not only as a source of income but also as a way to manage the human wildlife conflicts, look at the numbers of people killed by elephants during the ban compared to before that and now, look at crop raids too, hunting concessions have acted as a barrier between park/reserves and populated settlements and for years it has worked really well.
We allow it for the benefits, and we have zero tolerance for poaching.

How ironic is it that the vert people who are against controlled hunting say so with tummies full of meat from some killed animal or bird. Moreover those animals they eat have been raised in unnatural conditions and kept in large populations in a small area. Botswana does what is good for their environment and people. Let them be. The biggest problem is that the "moral police" are not benefiting from these hunts. If they were they would be quiet. In my language there's a saying that a dog never barks with a bone in it's mouth...

Those who ban, never expect to pay the price of the ban.

That Adam Cruise knows nothing about life in Botswana the population of elephant has increased in recent years to a point that elephant are seen in some places where they were never seen before. A number of families has lost their loved ones due to elephants, families are left without food as they grace from our farms.... even the livestock has got no grassing land... If they want this elephants they should come and get them to their countries we lost so many Batswana due to elephants!!!!!!

Well said, why are Western countries make decisions for us. We do know know that they make money by making noise about animal rights and forget or ignore human rights. We as Africans are capable of making independent well informed decisions for our benefits

So sad that people in the UK don't empower Africans and allow them to manage their resources without needing Robbie or Adam for that matter to explain it to them, how self-righteous can you be? Spot on Robbie Africans in the bush everywhere are thankful for you explaining how it is. We need all the tools in our tool box.

Africans do not stay in the bush. They stay in habitual places, in communities

      @mauricesekale4835 - I'll take a jab at it . . .
many ignorant people, oops, I meant intelligent people (🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣), think that indigenous people only live in straw and mud huts. These Madison Avenue, snooty and arrogant people
believe that Africans dance around a fire at night. They are illiterate and, frankly, mentally challenged.
They don't believe that there are cities in Africa.
That Africans are unable to direct their own future or manage the great game herds.
Do not take offense, but educate these
      imbeciles.

I don't like hunting n I don't hunt like neva. Botswana has lots of food for me to hunt but u can't ignore how elephants population have grown so much such that they enter where people stays n even kill people. They break n destroys trees . Causing harm to the environment. So reducing their number would help. It's OK to have measures in place to do hunting just to balance this growing population of animals and population of people.

Trophy hunting benefit the few corrupt leaders of those trusts. As a Motswana who does not hunt, I am not against managing the population of Elephants as they are encroaching into our agricultural land. Maybe we should look into donating some to the European Union and the USA as they are against them being culled. This year we are experiencing a surging number of Buffaloes in agricultural communities such as Nata, Mosetse and Dukwi as a result of not managing animal population. As people who depend on livestock exportation to the overseas market, we cannot sell them cos if the animals comes into contact with the buffaloes the whole zones are flagged as a danger zone cos buffaloes are carriers of Foot and Mouth disease. As Batswana we need conservation, coupled with management which is not decorated to us by the Western communities.

Good that you are rebutting Adam Cruise here, but how do you get this to those with the power to approve the trophy ban. You have 6,77k subscribers who could all voice their support for TH, make phone calls, send email etc. You mention you've seen the financials of the communities, that is very important to know as the old saying goes money talks! Hon. Philda Nani Kereng went to UK to defend TH as a conservation tool. She has been a Project Officer for Community Development of the Action for Economic Empowerment Trust, a local partner of the US African Development Foundation (ADF), working closely with rural communities to identify, plan and manage community ecotourism projects. Thanks for creating this video.

We share this video. The video helps provide talking points. The video is pushed beyond TH-cam in various other social media feeds. We have a small but growing voice. Hopefully in the future we have a lot more people seeing content like this and sharing it into their respective communities. The power of sharing on social media cannot be understated - if everyone that watched the video shared it to 10 friends, could you imagine the reach? That's all that needs to happen. People though have a tough time sharing educational content, as its not your typical "viral" video. Slowly but surely we are changing that. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!

I love elephants, but they will destroy their environment if their numbers aren't controlled. Managed hunts will keep their numbers down, while bringing in revenue for Botswana. Anyone who isn't directly effected by this issue needs to stay out of it.

Who would have thought that a land that the British invaders considered a rugged desert in 1966 and deliberately underdeveloped it would in 58 years turn out to be a centre of eco-tourism gem of interest to them.

Botswana is a desert that failed to pay british taxes.. why the interest now? Europeans should keep their hypocrasy to themselves..Keep your trophy money and leave us with our elephants..the british stole treasures from those people living hand to mouth..it would be ludicrous for batswana to walk that path again..wish you luck.

You guys still do not distinguish between controlled hunting... Which is reducing numbers of specific animals which can be utilised for food !!! And trophy hunting which claims to target the old and the weak! Those that have served their purpose ( in your opinion ) looking in the photo section of any hunting magazine shows this up for the bullshit it is !!! These photos show animals in their prime.... Highlighting record sizes...animals that are not utilised for food.... Lion, leopard, serval, caracal etc. etc. Trophy hunters are just butchers and should not feature in this discussion !!! Reducing numbers of edible species when justified is one thing !!! Killing off species for fun is reprehensible and banning them from exporting their parts is justified !!!
