At 34:36, Soulbond only works if both creatures are unpaired. Aaron could not pair with the Angel token because he chose to pair with the Skyknight when he played the Mirage Phalanx. He would need to have chosen not to pair at that time in order to pair with something else later.
Back when Ghirapur Aethergrid was in standard I had a U/R clues deck that would use the aethergrid as its win-con, so its always fun to see it whenever it's played.
Great game. Definitely a slobber knocker. Crazy that the urtet counters was never activated at all. But letting urabrask's forge go the entire game was insane. How many loran triggers were there? Craziness.
40:40 It's actually totally legal to assign all 22 first strike damage to the first Myr here and then get another 22 life from the second round of combat damage, as long as you assign lethal damage to the first blocker you CAN move on to the next blocker, but you don't have to, and you can stack as much damage as you want on any blocker you've dealt enough damage to reach in blocking order. The rules work this way mostly to let big attackers kill small blockers that have damage prevention effects set up on them, but it also has some interesting edge cases, like making a blocker with a death trigger to stay alive if you load all of the damage from your attacker onto another blocker first.
Urtet was one turn away from going infinite. Galvanizer + mycosynth gardens (which notably doesn't have summoning sickness) + cryptolith rites means infinite mana and untaps, which with urtet makes the board infinitely big. any draw engine or other payoffs wins. shame the wipe came out to stop it :(

Was there a misplay when Gabriel's ichorclaw myr got blocked by the necropede? Since both has infect, they both inflict -1/-1 on each other. The myr should've died at end step right?
I like seeing the growth about rules knowledge over the course of the series, and catching missed triggers, etc. The last time I played against infect, I killed them by proliferating poison counters on them too lol

I just realized the combat where Esmond swung in on Elliot for 22/22 menace/lifelink/double strike Esmond had 4 life before the block. I think Elliot had exactly enough artifacts to ping him dead before the damage. Definitely not a misplay with that much stuff going on, just something crazy I realized!
I was thinking the same thing but nope, Esmond was at 5 and took 1 after blocks were declared from Elliot tapping the creatures blocking, So Elliot needed one more artifact on board in order to survive
I was looking at that as well but Esmond would have died because of his pain lands (modern horizon). There's no option of picking colourless. Just something small I noticed but the video was amazing

If two or more creatures are blocking it, it assigns its combat damage to those creatures according to the damage assignment order announced for it. This may allow the blocked creature to divide its combat damage. ... An amount of damage that’s greater than a creature’s lethal damage may be assigned to it. The last line states you can actually assign more than lethal damage. Nice hack!! xD
Around the 25:00 mark, wouldn’t Gabriel have been able to Flawless after the Kabira + first Flawless resolved? Each layer resolves independently and can be responded to, I’m not sure why he was told he couldn’t?
At 23:01 shouldn't the Ichorclaw Myr have gained a -1/-1 counter from Necropede, thus dying upon losing it's buff in Gabriel's end step? Or am I missing an effect? Very fun game regardless. Everyone brought a lot to the table!
According to rule 608.1 all players have to pass in succession to allow a spell to resolve, so the wrath would remain on the stand and Gabriel would be able to save his board as it had not resolved yet since everyone didn’t pass in succession
@@QMTG every phase and spell has to pass the succession clause, so if someone wants do do something before you change a phase then when they finish their thing you are still in that phase and must try to change phases again, same with spells, if you are worried someone won’t respond then you must hold priority to add onto the stack otherwise just wait for your opponents to do their actions and then do yours after while your original spell is still on the stack trying to resolve

You just have to cast your flawless maneuver in response to another player or when you first cast wrath. You are first in the priority chain, not last. :) so it works out!
Hey guys quick update, infect does count as combat dmg so this does stack with toxic, dmg is taken and applied as -1/-1 counters and no life is loss but combat dmg is still assigned hence still triggering toxic. Just heads up for next time!
I think the Ichorclaw Myr would have died at the end of Gabriel's turn? Should have gotten a -1/-1 counter from Esmond's blocker as that creature also had infect.
Missed the trigger from Myr Retriever dying to White Sun's Twilight, not sure there was any one artifact in the graveyard that would've saved him from losing next turn though haha
Why did Gabriel not target Urabrask's Forge with Loran on his last turn instead of Ghirapur Aether Grid? I do not see how he died on that turn cycle if he had.

14:26 Serra ascendent should of die also to double strike, yes it pro red but the owner of Serra ascendent choose the use it as a blocker so the pro red is invalid only work the other way around if Serra Ascendent is attacking and has pro red, defending player red card cannot be use to block, deal damage etc.

Yeah Elliot spent a few long minutes trying to see if he could kill me but he didn’t have enough untapped artifacts
One thing he could've done though, was pinging his own 2 blocking myrs away (after blocks & before damage). To prevent the lifelink happening.

9:36 poison does combat damage, but damage is done as poison counters in players and -1-1 counters in creatures. Doesn’t cause life loss.
Toxic does cause loss life but infect does not. Toxic uses the stack after causing combat damage and infect is a replacement effect.

infect deals dmg to creatures as -1/-1 counters aswell. so the Ichorclaw Myr wouldve died EoT due the block from Necropede. 22:51

Yep, infect replaces combat damage with poison counters, and toxic adds poison counters after that damage is dealt

Yes Skrelv gives Toxic 1, hexproof from a color and can't be blocked by creatures of that same color

the sac & draw of the canopy lands actually doesn't cost life, only the mana abilities do
