Brother man I got the same orange carpet offer and I got 6 distinctions,I tried to register and I called. I was told the class is full, mind you that I tried to register on the 16th. I recieved an email from them saying I had been admitted and so on but in the end received an email saying I had been declined. Luckily I received an offer from Wits for the same course. In most countries artisans, IT specialists, nursing, teaching have specialises colleges and people don’t frown at those colleges and think they are lower than a university qualifications. Sounds like he got accepted and delayed to register then the course got full really quickly. This is nothing new. I've have friends who have experienced this, especially ones who are with nsfas because they'd try to sort out the financial unblocking before registering only for the course to get full. Once you're accepted, phanda chelete ya registration and register within a day or 2 coz its bad out here. Too many students on the waiting list for them to reserve placement, even if you are a high achiever

They said they'd open the portal for him because he's a top achiever. If you've been at UJ you'd know that the portal is supposed to be open to all accepted students unless the course is full. The fact that they told them they'll try to open one for him means that it was closed already due to space constraints. The brother went on to say that they told them space was full and there was nothing they could do because that's how quickly it fills up. Look, I totally believe that they tried to register. I think what happened was they couldn't register without paying and wanted to use the bursary for payment but to sort that out can take time, so that explains why they kept calling UJ and enquiring about registration. Registering with your own money is easy, even a child could do it. The fact that they didn't means they were delayed by the funds. The UJ system barely crashes for extended periods of time. Everything I'm saying is based on experience my brother, I'm knowledgeable enough to make this speculation. I'm not saying these are facts so take it with a grain of salt.

Some choose another institution, some can't afford to pay for registration, some decide to take gap year because they don't like the course they applied for, etc. So varsities will generally accept more people. All the universities must be investigated for even if you ask for appeal forms they fail to send you and it is the right of any student to appeal any rejection by any university.
This happened for me twice in a row and i had a bursary from SASSETA...UJ told me i was provisionally accepted then after all varsities were done accepting applications they said i couldn't register....same thing the following year because i was dependent on the bursary ....today i am home and couldn't do my varsity education. Provisional acceptance is not a final acceptance , When they accept students they do not accept the exact number that they want to take for a specific course. If they want to have 90 students for the Bsc they can admit 110 students then registration is first come first serve .
Cause mist students apply for 4 to 5 universities & upon acceptance decide where to go. Others take a gab year after being accepted to improve their marks go work overseas etc.

When it comes to schools, parents apply ages in advance only to see children from other areas being admitted ahead of theirs then told ‘there is no space’ What’s going on?

I then did not register in time and then I got a regret letter. Nothing is guaranteed. There are other learners out there who applied for the same course and if they take space, you're done.

He was studying for unemployed, I say this as a holder of a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and I triple majored in Chemistry, BioChemistry and Microbiology in 3rd year but I am currently employed as a sales manager at a factory and my job has nothing to do with my qualifications🤣its probably a blessing in disguise, hang in there young man.

@ UJ gets most applications in South African 600k is not childplay so if you don't register in time they give your offer to someone else.
