At wits BHSc Biomedical sciences is more advantageous to get into GEMP because first and second year of medicine and Biomed are the same. Literally the same. And if u are doing BHSc Biomed and get an average of 60% in second year you will exempt from writing the selection test for GEMP 🙃
Thank you sm for this video! Im considering going to Stellenbosh. My friend told me that at Tuks they took 45 people for the mid year transfer out of 500 people.Plus the amount of modules they do in 1st semester is like 8\9. I checked stellies and with BSc human life science i saw that we do 5 modules and the maths(bio) is only in 1st semester and that the physics(bio) is" less difficult" than normal physics.
I wanted to ask. 1.What average in 1st year should we aim for in order to transfer to medicine in stellies. And secondly could you do a video on 1st year BSc human life science on how to work effectively in each module.eg Bio, maths(bio) ect...
If I study BSc biological sciences in UKZN do you think that I will have a chance to get in after my last year of studying for this degree? Because I didn’t get in after 1st year even though I did get over 80% last year for all my modules and I got Deans Commendations for both semesters. I was told that first years are only considered if 2nd and 3rd years are not enough to fill the spaces
Firstly congratulations on getting such amazing marks. You should so proud of yourself 💕💕 Honestly University have they own merit system that they do. What I would suggest is to apply to all medical school and also speak to the admin office of the medical facility at your school and ask what actually they want.
You can do any first year human biology course (biochemistry, Genetics, human life Sciences) if you are thinking of transferring after first year but if you thinking long term human life would be the best. However it's highly competitive.
Physics and chemistry overall with medicine, so that is a big positive for you. You may have to do an additional first year course in physiology and anatomy if you are accepted that depends on the university you want to study at.
I'm honestly I'm not sure how it works for the extended programme. I'm sorry. I would suggest taking to the admin of the medical school to see their progress when it comes to the extended program
Let’s say you applied for a BSc degree with your grade 11 marks in order to get provisional acceptance. Can you then apply for medicine with your grade 12 results because they are better or??
Hey Keabetswe I would suggest that you talk to the administrator of the medical faculty of the university you applied to during orientation/registration and as if you can transfer. I think they will either A) put you on a waiting list (such honestly I doubt because they would already have people on their waiting list who applied doing their matric year) or B) tell you to apply for medicine for the next year (2023). I hope you enjoy your BSc tho. The Sciences are amazing 💕
I currently finished my grade 11 year and my marks are not fantastic so I was asking if I could apply for a BSc and receive provisional acceptance and then after I finish my matric year (with better marks) apply for medicine, is that possible?
@@keyaTleane Unfortunately it's not possible because Medicine is a highly competitive field so you have to apply from the get go. However, you can do BSc for one year and then transfer to medicine the next year after that. That's possible
I made a stupid mistake and chose to apply for a Bsc specialising in chemistry and not biochemistry by the way at University of Pretoria. Please let me know if its possible to get into medcine.
It is possible to do medicine🥰. Chemistry is not a useless major. You take it in your first your in medicine and it's also useful when you do pharmacology. Apply every where and trust in yourself and your degree. Praying that you get in🥰
Looking at their course modules is seems well rounded in biomedical topic. If you are in your first year I would suggest emailing the universities that you are interested in and see how the feel about external transfers. From my understanding most universities either want someone who just matriculated or they want someone how has a completed degree. It's easier to switch degree internally but there's nothing wrong with asking.
Hi Miguel If you want to transfer university the main thing is that your marks are within a good average (aim for above 70%).
