    I'm hoping to be doing a biomedical Science degree in the next few years , and I'm just wondering what level degree do I need to be a biomedical scientist , is it like a 2:2 or can i still be one with a 2:3 ?

    • @cbscboys8784

      I think 2:2 is the standard. You can’t really do much with a 3rd class degree but it’s better than nothing as you can aim to work your way up through work experience

    Did you do the placement year? If not, did you complete your portfolio after graduating BMS or not?

    • @LifeofHelena
      @LifeofHelena  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey, I didn't do a placement year at university. I did the standard 3 years Biomedical Science degree. I got accepted to medical school once I was about to start my portfolio, so I didn't end up going ahead. In terms of whether to study MSc Physician Associate or not, I think it depends on the career path you want to go down. Physician Associate degree has more clinical placement exposure, face to face contact with patients and Biomedical Science is laboratory-based. Do you know what you prefer? I think once you decide this, it will make it easier to tailor it down and don't rush to make a decision :)

      Hey! What degree are you studying at the moment? In the UK, to study BSc in Biomedical Science, you need to do A-level (or equivalent) in Biology and Chemistry (or in some cases one of the core sciences). You have to check the university entry requirement on their website too. I'm not sure if this is the same in Australia, you'll have to double check.

    • @user-ik1jo2vd2j
      @user-ik1jo2vd2j 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seems like all the so called ‘good’ universities or the better known ones are not accredited but the smaller ones are - I personally think the accreditation and your future with that course is more important than the reputation of the uni/ their rank. Obviously good teaching is key but at the end of the day most of the course will be independent learning so it will be up to you to get the grades. It will make your life much easier (if you want to be a biomedical scientist sometime along your journey) to just go to the accredited degree uni in the first place. And anyway, to get a non-accredited degree regulated and accredited, it costs alot of money 😅 so yeah hope that helps haha x

      Hey! ✨
      I hope you’re well. I usually look at the topics I need to improve on and break them down.
      - Watch TH-cam videos around the topic e.g biochem, biology videos
      - Find a book in the library related to the topic
      - Good study group: people you can study with and give revision tips to each other
      - Active recall is so important - so maybe question banks or past paper questions to have an idea of how the exam is set up, familiarise yourself with the timing and test yourself too.
      I hope this helps. Wish you the best of luck!
