    Just found your channel, criminally underrated. I had to take down my tanks when I made my move and haven't set anything up again in a few years. I was thinking of setting up a shrimp tank and you have so much information!
    Thanks for taking the time to share.

    I was going to grow shrimp with moss, but it looks messy
    I chose something a little more manageble and hardier
    A floating forest of Guppy Grass.
    Easily my #1. It provides cover and is easy to take out when it's time to cull or collect the shrimp.
    It's the work smarter, not harder plant for any shrimp tank
    It grows fast, which means it removes nitrates just as fast and provides dense cover when allowed to become overgrown

    I’m just setting up a small 10g shrimp only tank. I just put 1.5 - 2 inches of aqua soil into it. Is there any benefit of this much substrate? Most shrimp tanks I see have less than an inch. I plan for some water wisteria and/or pearl weed with mosses and susswasertang. Should I decrease my substrate to 1 inch (no shrimp yet)? I’m new to this hobby (more like a sport).

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great suggestion! Indian Almond leaves provide the perfect location for biofilm and bacteria to develop, and shrimp love to eat biofilm 👍🏻

    What's the difference between Neocaridina and Caridina shrimps...?

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are essentially two difference species of dwarf shrimp. Typically, Neocaridina shrimp are less fussy on water parameters, and therefore generally easier to keep and breed than Caridina shrimp. Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp also have different shaped reproductive parts meaning they literally don't fit together, and as such they will not crossbreed.

    are all these plants good for low tech setup??

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All of these plants work well in a low-tech setup. While almost all plants grow better with higher light and the addition of CO2, all plants on this list will grow under low to medium light (with the possible exception of Pearl Weed which does like medium light). None NEED CO2 to grow well
